That instrument in the end is an Irish flute. It turns up in a quite a few of his songs, as I recall. He's disgustingly talented and can play basically anything.
If I recall correctly, Zombie was written about the Troubles. It's all Irish. His voice is so perfect for this, like it was made for it, and it was. I'm so glad you had such a good time with this one!
“There is nothing hotter to me than an Irish accent” SAME!! IM WITH MY PEOPLE❤ but in all seriousness, there’s something about the way the Irish accent flows and dances in music that is just so beautiful, one of my faves to listen too! As an avid Cranberries fan, he did Dolores justice ❤
This is one of the best covers Colm has done. His accent really helps connect to the Cranberries original version. (RIP Dolores) You should check out the Peyton Parrish version. It was produced by Jonathan Young. Jonathan also has a great version of Zombie on his own channel. Nothing fancy, just stripped back and emotional 🤘
Great reaction! This, for me, is one of the best covers of this song out there - perfectly capturing the sadness with the gentle Irish accent and the anger with those roars. Love it when Colm lets loose with the guttural screams and roars! Have a listen to "Fight The Tide" where he has a screaming/roaring match with Jonathan Young (on Jon's channel) - think you might enjoy that ☺
Wonderful reaction! This song is so powerful sung in this way, with the peaceful verses...I'm very impressed with this one. One of these days DJ, you are going to headbutt your microphone and I am (sort of) desperate to see that...😅 #DJAntlers 💗
He has been doing a song a week for the last few months, and that doesn't include collaborations. This cover is amazing, but I think his newest one might take the top spot for me. We will get to it eventually.
Colm is simply phenomenal and DJ's reactions make his music even more enjoyable. I agree, the latest song Iris is very moving. Thank you,Todd, for putting Colm on so many reactors' plate!
I'm not sure where to try fitting it in. Next month is Hell's Comin With Me, and was planning on Hanging Tree for October, maybe it will get picked up for the Live Stream or he'll win a weekly poll
That 'vocal fry' sound is, I believe, him using his false vocal folds for the metal scream. I only know(?) this because of Jennifer Glatzhofer, The Fairy Voice Mother, Peter Barber, and Charismatic Voice. Ooooh, if you haven't already....I can't remember....you need to react to Frog Leap Studios (Leo Moracchioli) at some point. He's my favorite crazy Norwegian heavy metal singer, and he can turn ANYTHING metal. Any. Thing. He does a lot of multi-tracking with a normal, straight voice, and screams over the top.
Hell yesssss, such an amazing cover. If you want more of that grit, his 16 tons cover and his more recent hell's comin with me cover are so good. 16 tons has got a lot of bass too
Idk why i do this to myself... lmao I have spent the last hour or so watching people react to the og of this song. It gets me a little emotional but not bad enough to cry and then i stumble upon you. I have seen some of your videos before (keep it up btw like the content) but i went through the Colm playlist and saw that he did this cover. I paused the video at 3:33 and went to listen to the song with no pauses or interuptions. That first belt, scream, whatever it was... i wept the entire song f you Colm. I love you but f you
You should really react to the Cranberries original and the Bad Wolves cover from 5 years ago. Delores was scheduled to Join the Bad Wolves in recording this cover. She died in a hotel less than 12 hr before they were going to record. The version we are hearing right now seems to be a mixture of the two but with his own twist on it. When I finish with your reaction I will be doing the same as I did when I discovered the Bad wolves version. Listening to one after another, over and over. This was written during the Troubles in Northern Ireland after 2 children were killed by a bomb in a trash bin while shopping on a weekend morning.
Love your reactions. Hope to see you react to Colm's cover of Misty Mountains in Dwarvish from the Hobbit. He has a normal version and a metal one. I'm obsessed with the metal cover so I hope to see you check that out. Figured since you like DnD you are probably into lord of the rings as well.
except for the very beginning with Colm's beautiful Irish accent, this sounds very much like an absolute take off of Bad Wolves Zombie cover, an amazing song/cover that Dolores was supposed to sing on- sadly she died the day of recording.

I'm not sure I've requested any songs with the Irish Flute or Penny whistle footage, so he hasn't actually seen Colm play those yet
@@toddmaliepaard9777 Aha. It's hard for me to remember what DJ has reacted and what he hasn't. :)
well The Cranberries were an irish band. so its very fitting an irishman like colm covers zombie.
If I recall correctly, Zombie was written about the Troubles. It's all Irish. His voice is so perfect for this, like it was made for it, and it was. I'm so glad you had such a good time with this one!
It was written during The Troubles and mentions how it's been going on since The Easter Rising in 1916.

Colm is by far one of the best undiscovered artists

It is a tinwhistle, volume up in the mix to match the vocals.
❤❤Colm....is.amazing.voice.beautiful.super.mega.total😮
EPIC! Colm does not disappoint! So glad that you enjoyed this one!

@elkelackermeier9775 I'm trying lol I did you see Arab Man Reacts Now, Colly video?
The Irish accent and the amazing libretto is incredible. Great reaction
Lovely reaction! Colm is awesome, so glad he did this one will the full accent and even a bit of trilling, it truly honors the original.
You are going to NEED -- NEEEEEEEEEEED -- to put his cover of "Gimme Gimme Gimme" (ABBA) on your list. It's....brilliant.
I'm not sure where to try fitting it in. Next month is Hell's Comin With Me, and was planning on Hanging Tree for October, maybe it will get picked up for the Live Stream or he'll win a weekly poll
This was amazing! Thanks Todd, and I think you found dj's new favorite colm song 😂😂💜🦌
Just wait until he hears Iris

I have never seen this one. I expect it will be very interesting.
Okay, you must listen to Dan Vasc’s rendition of this song. No comparison. Please.
Thanks 😊
