    Do people actually eat the cookies and pastries? Those towers seem to show up every time something is celebrated but I'm not sure I've ever seen a single person actually eating something from them in these vids lol. Is it just a super elaborate version of something like American gingerbread houses that are mostly for decoration?
    What do they taste like? Based on the appearance of the "building block" buns I've always imagined something like un-iced animal crackers in the west.

      We do eat it a lot after Lunar new year. it has it’s own unique taste and texture. it contains sufficient amount of butter like grease (mongolians make it from milk but it is so different from butter) to keep it fresh.

    • @DA-ug6ox
      @DA-ug6ox 5 лет назад +3

      The “cookie” is a little bit sweet and has lots of butter. The cookie has a distinct taste because we use butter that is similar to ghee butter, like the one from India.

    This is like a video log showing expense of scenery and close-ups of the panning of traditional Mongolian dishes I assume having it called the moon food and must be a festival celebration food but very little is put into describing to the viewer what the person is eating what’s the significance to the Moon Festival
    I recognize the dumplings as being very similar to those made in China

      Super gamey. Like beef or mutton, but stronger. Wild, strong red meat. Almost like you can smell the stable it was in when you taste it. Odd description but there you go!

    • @Mike-oi2th
      @Mike-oi2th 5 лет назад

      @@hannahcpk interesting. with a strong aftertaste, i wonder how the japanese even eat raw sashimi horse meat. let alone their supply is mainly imported from Mongol, Uzbekistan etc so very little different in quality.

    • @hannahcpk
      @hannahcpk 5 лет назад

      @Mike Interesting! Perhaps they have certain criterias for the type of horses they select for horse meat sashimi (food fed, environment they are in, etc)? The horse meat (made into a stew) I’ve tried was on a mountain in Vietnam where they usually keep it for the colder seasons, so perhaps they prefer it more “gamey” for the warmth.
