Tommy Herts The ballast is a mixture of 3mm joining aggregate, rapid set cement and some black cement dye to tone the colour down a bit. Newer sections of the track have been ballasted with 3mm Joining Agg and external grade PVA glue, mixed with water to give a milky consistency and then dribbled onto the ballast to hold it in place. Hope this helps!
