    Crazy to see how well these 2012 machines still perform in 2019. My 2012 Mac mini and MacBook Pro 15" still run the latest MacOS with ease!

    I build my families PC's, I use PC and mac, IT is no secret that you can build a faster PC for less than a mac. I dont know what it is, must be the OS, but MAC seems to run faster and smoother than a PC with higher specks, especially for recording/audio work. I am not Biased, I own both, and PC/MAC are both great computers. The one thing I could not see is using a small ass macbook for audio work, I could not imagine editing audio regions on that small ass thing. Also even is the macbook and imac CPU's spec the same, one is made for laptops, and one for desktop...desktop being the winner no matter what!

    Omg this waste of money, you can build a better pc for only $1000. Just kidding., I have one of these and it is GREAT. I love iMac. It just looks awesome and performs well with office stuff. Sure it's expensive but you will probably impress more people with an iMac than a dull ass gaming pc.

    According to the official document, new memories will use a technology similar to what is found in memories video card. This method allows DDR4 DRAM memory consume only half the energy used by DDR3 when reading or writing data.

    Depends on what you plan to do with the iMac. i7 has a larger processor cache(memory), higher clock speed, and hyper-threading. This "essentially" doubles the amount of processing cores, in most cases.
    If you need a lot of processor(video editing, photo processing, etc) then yes, very worth it.

    Very cool, very professional. I wish I had you doing every item I've ever bought-shoes, clothes, even food, medication, books . . . it would be SO COOL! And you have just the right balance of brisk efficiency yet not the robotic drone of someone reading off a cue card, plus an obvious vast grasp of the subject matter.
    I will be receiving this box tomorrow and you made it all the more fantastic! Brave-o!

  • @catsilvy
    @catsilvy 11 лет назад

    If you're always going to wait for "the next update" you will wait forever. It's not like an updated imac will make this iteration useless. The changes will be subtle but I can't imagine they will be big enough to warrant waiting that long.

  • @IrieBuilder
    @IrieBuilder 12 лет назад

    I was also impressed with the speakers. I consider myself an audiophile and couldn't believe how good these sounded compared to any other built in speaker I've heard on any TV, laptop, or computer. I still plugged in my speaker setup I already have, but I would have no problems using the built in speakers if I didn't have speakers already.
    P.S. I'm not an apple fanboy. This is my first Mac and I'm still coming to terms with it, but I can't deny the quality of it.

    fusion drive actually two SEPARATE ssd+hdd. apple's fusion technology is a driver in the os that dynamically scans your most frequent apps+os and moves them to the ssd (if everything fits into the ssd, it won't even use the hdd).

    I understand why you would buy the memory elsewhere and install it yourself. But is there a reason why you just didn't add two more cards of RAM, making it 32 gigs and use the other two existing cards? Is running two makes of RAM not recommended?

    Considering what you said, the 27 inch model would benefit you quite a bit with video work(it's display is goergous), and the easily accessible RAM slots will be useful should you ever need to add more RAM. The 27 inch model also has an option for the Nvidia GTX 680MX which is a top of the line laptop graphics chip, keep in mind though that laptop graphics are only a fraction of the performance of full desktop GPUs (you'd need to get a Mac Pro to support these cards). I hope this info helps.

    well if my calculations are correct, a 22" monitor at 1920x1080 is about 100 PPI this 27" iMac at 2560x1440 is about 109 PPI, so around a 9 PPI difference, which really is not that noticeable, but yes it is a higher pixel density. Hopefully this answered your question. Stay frosty

    It's a vulgar question. Some people are a little more able to buy stuff for one reason or another. We benefit as Mike not only loves technology but takes the time to share his passion with us.
    The interesting thing is that such passion and well presented video's may have become a self sustaining project due to the number of hits or even product mention and links such as the Ram. Either way, I very much enjoy Mike's reviews because he is very to the point and focuses on substance over style.

    upgrading the ram yourself on the new 21 inch voids the warranty as you have to take off the screen and remove a bunch of stuff to get to it. i have actually done it before myself as an apple store employee who works at the genius bar and in the back, it was one of the hardest things to do.

  • @JacksonMLProductions

    Normally apple will say like "If you bought a mac after [insert some date here] You can get a free upgrade to the next OS!". That's what I'm hoping because my family just got one about a week ago. I can't remember when apple said its coming out.

  • @TeamMemeSupreme

    I have to agree with Destiny Waits. PCs can render quite fast for much cheaper. If you prefer an Apple Mac though, the Mac Pro cannot be beat. It is very, very fast, but consider upgrading the GPU and the RAM in your home, as it is much cheaper and more powerful. I will warn you though, the Mac Pro has an insanely high price, even for the cheaper model.

    I bought Imac 14 years ago, at that time hardly any one used to buy them, problem with mac is that few messengers are in compatible with them or used to. If you are chatting with a person using pc there were features that weren't available for Imac. Also sending files sometimes you cant open them bec it doesn't support the software you are using. Not sure now, but few years back this used to be a common problem with Mac's

    I never thought I would say this, but the IMac is an amazing machinery. I always said that I would never buy an iMac just a MacBook Pro , but the screen is amazing. The 21.5 or 27i inch makes everything look amazing. Very ideal if you have a hard time seeing in smaller screens. I do wish it has the optical drive though.

    You should be using dedicated speakers with a desktop really. They need physical volume (as in space lol) to produce good sound which is why the ones in laptops and stuff always suck. They're good for what they are, but you should really get some proper ones or some decent headphones for the best experience.

    Just to let you know, you got the resolution wrong, its 2560 x 1440, not 2560 x 1600 unfortunately.

    What do you suggest? I want to be able to render and edit fast, The imac or mac pro? And if you suggest, please tell me what specs would be best! (Not the most exspensive Mac pro)

    21.5 inch probably. 27 is just too wide (if you have bad eyesight). But if you stream movies, 27 is great.
    But for reading, I would suggest the 21.5 inch. You should go to store and test it out.

    He did a jump cut. You can tell because he didn't have setup and it showed the end of the setup right before he got to the desktop.

    They don't mind RAM, just look at other Macs like my Mac Mini for instance, the wheel on the bottom allows easy access.

    I have a SUPER old computer running windows XP with a intel... Pentium processor, I think it's called with I think less than half a gigabyte of RAM. I need to upgrade to this, now! Anyway, that part where you opened all of the applications at the same time was so cool! Try doing that with the old box computer I have!

    the screen resolution is not 2560 x 1600. It's an IPS LED display made by LG with 16:9 ratio with a resolution of 2560 x 1440. =)

    OS X will use as much RAM as you give it, it's very dependent on it (much like Windows is very HDD/SSD dependent). This is how it keeps things snappy even when you're doing a lot, because it uses the much faster RAM instead of your SSD/HDD to recache everything. It's always a good idea (if you can afford it of course) to get as much RAM as you can for your Mac. Like the other guy said, you can very easily use it all up with complex Photoshop files and things like video editing.

    It actually says 2560 by 1440. 2560 by 1600 would be a 30 inch display which would be 16 by 10 aspect ratio.
