That's the only job Barbie can't have, since it's not a real profession. Ken has no work uniforms, so the 10 yrs old really had to improvise.

Oh my god, I used to watch this show with my sister back when it was on Netflix (before they tried making their own version of it)! Honestly, some of the jokes in this series I still remember so well: This quote: "Ow. That's too tight, you ambulatory meatsack." (my dad still says this sometimes) The episode where Barbie's friend from the 1950s visits and is not only in black and white, but also has a laugh track that only one of Barbie's sisters can actually hear (it drives her nuts). The episode with the running gag of Barbie's age remaining unknown ("Wait a minute...but that would make her- *gasp* NO WAY!") The dresses still in their actual toy packaging. The items in the world looking like actual play sets you'd buy at a toy store. The episode where Ken creates a man cave at a clothing store to accommodate bored boyfriends while their girlfriends wait in line, ending with him walling up the room...with guys still inside...who are thrilled at not having to back out again, with the guys outside begging to be let in. The episode where Chelsea starts a lemonade store, but laments that she can't use a mermaid as the logo (for obvious reasons). Ken actually being an interesting character, skilled inventor, & top-notch boyfriend. There's an entire episode where he tries to pursue different jobs (lifeguard, astronaut), only to keep helping Barbie because he has a compulsive need to be good partner for her ("My Barbie senses are tingling...[cut to him running away from a launching rocket] I'M COMING, BARBIE!"). The fact that the series is technically a mockumentary, which does explain the sharp comedic writing.
I love how Alex didn't once mention Raquelle in the video, but the entire comment section is talking about her. Because she carried the entire show. Best character by a landslide (closet is up there as well)
I worked on this show as an FX TD, it was my first job and the happiest I have been working a job... I remember the glitter episode being specifically challenging cause we had to render glitter particles and it would take sooo long to render a single shot.
In one of the movies she does meet a unicorn. I wanna say... swan lake? It's whichever one starts with her at a bakery and she spots a unicorn and follows it out of town to a magical wooded area...which honestly describes most of the barbie movies. Although the barbie movies were "barbie in.." as in it would be a movie in the barbie universe and she's the well known actor whose name gets plastered on the posters.
I am comfortably in adulthood, and I unironically love Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse. It is silly, it's over the top, it's ridiculous, and it is perfectly self aware of that. It just has so much fun with it's Barbie references, or movie references, or crazy doll antics (some characters don't have legs with joints, for example). And Raquel, just Raquel as her own character. It's not, like, Fine Art, but it doesn't need to be, it doesn't pretend to be, and it does the self-aware referential whackiness so well.
The decorating with a button is so perfectly Barbie (the doll). It’s what it was like playing with the dolls. The button decor, the flipping island, the giant brush, how the old fashioned doll’s legs crack to bend, etc. it’s hilarious! 😄😂

As a teen I used to babysit my little cousin. It was around the time this show was starting to get popular. She was obsessed with it and always asked me to put it for her. I’d put it and just do my thing in the meantime. But one day I was like hmm what’s the jazz all about for this show so I sat and watched it with her. Kid you not we saw around 20 episodes and she finally got bored of it, I was the one asking her to watch it 😅 The show is a gem ok 😂

Brooo finally. I discovered this in 2018 in middle school, and I still remember it fondly and rewatch it often. It's just so good for no reason. It's one of the number one shows I recommend to people even if they're like, "Barbie? R u fr," but I swear by it.

Brooo finally. I discovered this in 2018 in middle school, and I still remember it fondly and rewatch it often. It's just so good for no reason. It's one of the number one shows I recommend to people even if they're like, "Barbie? R u fr," but I swear by it.

My friends and I discovered this show in study hall my senior year and absolutely LOST OUR MINDS. I feel like I need to go back and watch the whole thing because I definitely never saw a lot of the later episodes. But it’s sooo underrated and fantastic.
I love how in every one of these episodes, Alex always somehow manages to add some of his own "definitely not personal" trauma dumping
This series has the best unhinged wacky humour, and also intriguing worldbuilding

Given we were together at the time, I held my tongue and remained respectful. Seven years later, if we were still on speaking terms, I'd give her a very sharp reality check about her magical closet that somehow is just full of clothing.
This show was my favorite interpretation of the characters ever. Snarky, irreverent, and funny. All the characters got a lil shine.
