Yea though Godzilla still didn't seem very happy to let Kong live after the mecha dies. Godzilla was in the ancient war and he remembers what happend to his kind. But I also like that part.

Kong is the real legend. He saved godzilla with a newly relocated arm and he put up a good fight in the end with him being the one truly defeating mecha godzilla

According to the director Godzilla killed Kong so I guess one legend died. HEAV ship was used as a defibrillator to bring Kong back to life. And Godzilla charged the axe (which had been ineffective against Mechagodzilla up to that point) allowing Kong to be able to destroy Mechagodzilla. Godzilla and Kong defeat Mechagodzilla, not just Kong.
Two times Godzilla have chance but he didn't kill Kong.
So in Godzilla vs Kong the real winner is Godzilla
