My PIMI parents were actually so proud to announce to me that the last talk of the 2024 convention was the same material that prompted them to have a study and eventually get baptised in 1986. I love my parents, I really do, but the fact that Armageddon was the topic that made them decide to be a JW (a topic btw that was constant nightmare fuel throughout my childhood) is just beyond me!

No. So far the FULL bible has only been translated to 750 languages. Keep in mind christians have been translating the bible SINCE the first century and thats as far as we got.There are confirmed more than 7,100 languages on earth and still various regions of the earth we have yet to explore. Then there's the various groups of people who we haven't gotten Christians to meet anyway. Then there are regions where Christians in general are banned. So if the condition of the "end" is based upon the gospel being spread worldwide then we have at least a couple more centuries if not another thousand years of living to do. If you believe catholics preach the gospel then they already have 1 billion members, but if you believe the witnesses have the gospel then they only have a little more than 8 million members and have done not done NEARLY the amount of work that catholics have done. I could even go into protestants and eastern orthodoxy vastly surpassing what the watchtower has done. Overwhelmingly more members and are present in more countries than jw's. At the rate at which jw's share the gospel the end won't come for another couple thousand years.

As a young JW I always had a HARD time imagining myself in “the new system” but decided as long as I chose which animal I would have (Koala, hands down) the rest would magically appear in my brain at some point🤣🤣🤣

O..good old Armageddon... I remember the hyped up members of my congregation when the pandemic started (the last of the last..shortly before..) And how devastated and gloomy they were after visiting their first in-person convention...(again!) I remember some of them really were depressed and couldn't understand why they had to 'endure' and wait for Jehovah for an unknown time😢 (Proverbs 13:12) And I always felt very uncomfortable singing song 73...Jubilation about a coming destruction...😵💫
I avoid ex jw material these days but when I do look I always go to your channel and few others first. Good news for me is my family being happy and good health. Take care

Thanks Stacy, great work on your podcast. I'm only half way through the podcast but felt compelled to comment, I think that human beings need some type of hope. All the religions offer that. Having an imagination is actually healthy. That's why childhood is so fun. Doctors usually think it's healthy when kids have an imaginary friend. Or when you thought santa claus was real, it felt magical. The problem with the watchtower's fantasy is that it involve everyone else dying an agonizing death just so they can have the last " i told you so". I remenber hearing jeffrey jackson saying " its good news for us but not for them". Witnesses never think about the colossal destruction of billions of people that is involved in their fantasy. It will never happen, it actually makes no logical sense. The best thing to do is to avoid JWs at all cost. It will give you peace of mind.
This is a profound point and thank you for sharing it! That loss of hope cause so much pain when someone first decides to leave. There is a vacancy in people's lives. It's also how they trap so many into listening.....giving a false hope

Hey Stacey, I agree about these speakers on the convention.. they used to put their a list speakers out there but ones were pretty odd.. I understand there was like 70 videos.. You quoted John 17:17 about truth. Maybe if you were more interested in truth vs. faith, you might actually learn something, then you'd be able to let go of the fantasies you hold so dear.
Ill also add that Im pretty sure focusing on style at conventions over the talks helped me leave somewhat. Having fun with mybpeers made me feel normal and made me crave more normalcy.

First of all, Bible chronology shows that since the autumn of 1914 C.E. we have been living in the “last days” of this system of things. Jesus Christ indicated that these “last days” would not extend beyond the life-span of the generation seeing their start. (Matt. 24:34) Hence, at least some people who witnessed the horrors of World War I will see the complete end of government by imperfect men and the bringing in of prosperity under the kingdom of God. If after a billion years of perfection youre still going "oh wow I have no aches, pains, or blemishes" something is seriously off. Also you forgot about going over the statue in the Daniel book for the umpteenth time as seen in Watchtower illustrations
That statue needs an entire episode. Not to mention the entire book of Daniel is known to be a fake and added to Bible canon many years after the fact. But it's still a good story!

Which means Jw's CAN'T keep blaming the devil for all of humanity's problems. After all if everything is Satan's fault how can god judge humanity. After all jesus did not blame or condemn the actions of people who were demon possessed. How could he? They couldn't control their actions. Watchtower: Jehovah will judge the world and he is greater than his son is all apsects The bible: being called the son of God makes him equal to god. according to John chapter 5 all judgement is committed to jesus so that we may honor him JUST AS we honor the father. So jesus is supposed to receive the same honor that the father receives. Also in john chapter 5 jesus does what he sees the father doing in the SAME WAY. Jesus must be a perfect copy cat. So the father makes a planet then jesus makes a planet. The father makes a galaxy then jesus makes a galaxy. The father makes a universe then jesus makes a universe. The father resurrects the dead and jesus resurrects the dead. The father forgives sin and jesus forgives sin. So whats the difference between jesus and the father? According to Hebrews jesus is the EXACT expression/image of God. So he's a perfect copy? Yet somehow he's lesser than his father in every regard? Watchtower: jesus is a created being. Bible: John, Paul, and the author of hebrews all say ALL THINGS are created THROUGH, BY, and FOR Jesus. Paul in collosians even says jesus is PREEMINENT and BEFORE ALL THINGS. Hebrews chapter 1 tells us he is the radiance of his glory and the EXACT representation of God's nature and upholds ALL THINGS by the word of his power. John. Tells us all things are made through jesus and not even ONE thing is made without jesus. So anything that came into creation only appears if jesus is present?!?! I wonder if this includes time as well?!?! Isn't time a creation of God? If it is then jesus is before time as well since all things only come into being if he is present. Did jesus create himself or was he always present with his father. Perhaps jesus is eternal as well??? Paul seems to believe this since he claims jesus is PREEMINENT and BEFORE ALL THINGS in collosians.

You'll find that firstborn did not always mean first child to be born. It was used to also describe someone who would become an inheritor or someone who is first in rank, stature, or important. Paul says jesus is the firstborn of creation but then claims in that same chapter jesus is before all things. So one must ask did Paul contradict himself or is our definitions or interpretations for the passage off? This is where becoming knowledgeable in language and how words change overtime also affect scripture because an individuals understanding may be based on modern definitions rather than how people of the ancient world used these words.

Hey Stacey, I agree about these speakers on the convention.. they used to put their a list speakers out there but ones were pretty odd.. I understand there was like 70 videos.. I think they're relying more on the videos and not the boring speakers.. a lot of people said the same thing , nobody said best convention ever.. but I am glad the couples had the Angel helping them drive through the mud puddle in the car..😂😂😂😂😂 😆 haha..

The biblical Garden of Eden story is a plagiarized version of the Sumerian writings that pre-dated the Bible by 1,200 years. The Biblical writer(s) responsible for the Adam and Eve fable simply borrowed it from another culture.
Jewish scholars have always recognized the Adam and Eve myth for what it is- an allegory.

Prove it. If you had actually done some research BEFORE latching onto your beliefs, you'd know that it was not until long after the Bible's writing was completed that believers began teaching that the serpent was Satan. In fact, the fictional character of the Devil/Satan was gradually woven into biblical mythology as biblical writers got more creative with their story telling. But, I doubt that matters much to you. You quoted John 17:17 about truth. Maybe if you were more interested in truth vs. faith, you might actually learn something, then you'd be able to let go of the fantasies you hold so dear.
Ill also add that Im pretty sure focusing on style at conventions over the talks helped me leave somewhat. Having fun with mybpeers made me feel normal and made me crave more normalcy.

If anyone doesn't believe me copies are available. In 1973 the kids who were raised up with the "children" book were in their mid 40s to early 50s. Most lost the opportunity to have kids. The bible: the gospel must be spread across the whole earth and THEN the end will come.

The bible: jesus says to pilate HIS kingdom is not from this world. (implying jesus is already a king in heaven)
Jesus says to his father "glorify ME with the glory I had WITH you BEFORE the beginning of the world. (Implying jesus already had honour, worship, and praise BEFORE the world began)
Watchtower: satan was cast out of heaven in 1914
The bible: jesus says he beheld saran falling from heaven like lightning. (So jesus is speaking in the past tense about satan galling from heaven)
Later jesus resurrects and says to apostles "NOW the Ruler of THIS world has been thrown out" (jesus telling his disciples that satan was even cast out of the earth) which if that's the case this means that all the evil that occurs after that point is the fault of man. Which means Jw's CAN'T keep blaming the devil for all of humanity's problems. After all if everything is Satan's fault how can god judge humanity. After all jesus did not blame or condemn the actions of people who were demon possessed. How could he? They couldn't control their actions.
Watchtower: Jehovah will judge the world and he is greater than his son is all apsects
The bible: being called the son of God makes him equal to god.
according to John chapter 5 all judgement is committed to jesus so that we may honor him JUST AS we honor the father. So jesus is supposed to receive the same honor that the father receives.
Also in john chapter 5 jesus does what he sees the father doing in the SAME WAY. Jesus must be a perfect copy cat. So the father makes a planet then jesus makes a planet. The father makes a galaxy then jesus makes a galaxy. The father makes a universe then jesus makes a universe.
The father resurrects the dead and jesus resurrects the dead. The father forgives sin and jesus forgives sin. So whats the difference between jesus and the father? According to Hebrews jesus is the EXACT expression/image of God. So he's a perfect copy? Yet somehow he's lesser than his father in every regard?
Watchtower: jesus is a created being.
Bible: John, Paul, and the author of hebrews all say ALL THINGS are created THROUGH, BY, and FOR Jesus. Paul in collosians even says jesus is PREEMINENT and BEFORE ALL THINGS. Hebrews chapter 1 tells us he is the radiance of his glory and the EXACT representation of God's nature and upholds ALL THINGS by the word of his power.
John. Tells us all things are made through jesus and not even ONE thing is made without jesus. So anything that came into creation only appears if jesus is present?!?! I wonder if this includes time as well?!?! Isn't time a creation of God? If it is then jesus is before time as well since all things only come into being if he is present. Did jesus create himself or was he always present with his father. Perhaps jesus is eternal as well??? Paul seems to believe this since he claims jesus is PREEMINENT and BEFORE ALL THINGS in collosians.

While you're at it, look into how jews used the word firstborn and what preeminent means. You'll find that firstborn did not always mean first child to be born. It was used to also describe someone who would become an inheritor or someone who is first in rank, stature, or important. Paul says jesus is the firstborn of creation but then claims in that same chapter jesus is before all things.
So one must ask did Paul contradict himself or is our definitions or interpretations for the passage off?
This is where becoming knowledgeable in language and how words change overtime also affect scripture because an individuals understanding may be based on modern definitions rather than how people of the ancient world used these words.
