Atmos codec is within the Dolby Digital + codec. So if you tv has the option to output Dolby digital plus (instead of Atmos) it should also push the Atmos codec. You can check this in the manual of your tv.

So I wanna make sure I got it correct
I got my Dolby Atmos sound bar (eARC) hooked up to Tv going into the (arc) input
Then I got 4 inputs on back of sound bar and I got my series x and ps5 hooked to it ..
I don’t have my next gen consoles plugged into my tv I got them plugged into my soundbar. My tv don’t support Dolby atmos but my sound bar does..I can get atmos and 7.1 on my ps5 when I hook to my soundbar.. so I got it correct? Everyone saying I should just hook my soundbar up to arc to TV and then hook systems up to tv and I’ll automatically get it from everywhere but it’s sounding better with systems hooked up to soundbar ..

  • @src916

The first half where you connected your TV to the soundbar its non sending output in Atmos.. Its stil Dolby Digital Plus audio 5. 1 or 7.1. You get the Dolby Atmos logo on the movie title screen when it detects Dolby Atmos. If the Samsung TV is a 2019 version you'll get a firmware update. For 2020 or later it should be right out-of-box atmos ready.

Awesome video very helpful! Unfortunately my Samsung HW-MM55 sound bar only supports Dolby Digital and not Dolby Atmos. It still sounds amazing!!! I have a Samsung UHD TV NU6900 it does support ARC. Quick question I did every step you have shown in the video and I’m using the Netflix app through my Xbox One X. But for some reason my audio delay is terrible. I noticed if my original Xbox settings for HDMI Audio is on Stereo Uncompressed and Optical Audio is on Stereo Uncompressed I don’t have any trouble with the audio delay. Basically I won’t get Dolby Digital if I go back to normal settings. I have my Xbox One X optical cord connected to my Samsung sound bar (Digital Audio In Optical), I have my Xbox HDMI cable in (Out To TV) which is behind the console connected into HDMI TV gaming (HDMI 1) and Samsung sound bar (HDMI Out) connected into (TV-ARC) behind TV. When I tried your settings it sounds way better but audio delay is terrible. I went to the audio delay settings to adjust it but doesn’t seem right either. Is there something I’m doing wrong??

I have a Sony 900E using a Samsung HW-Q70R soundbar with atmos capabilities. I’ve followed all of these steps but my only issue is that when I go to Netflix and select an atmos title, it tells me “we’re having issues playing this title, please select another title” with a (5.6.0) error code.
5.1 title or any other sound format title has no problem playing. I’ve tried hard restarting my Xbox, clearing the cache, unplugging everything from the wall including my tv, Xbox, and soundbar for over 5 minutes and still getting the same error code. Any idea how I can solve this?

3:20 on my TV, the dolby digital option is greyed out and I can't select it, only PCM is available. I think because of this, after I change the HDMI Audio to Bitsream out, I'm unable to change the Bitsream format on the Xbox to Atmos. When I do I get an error message and it automatically goes to DTS Digital Surround instead. You know what the issue may be? I've been searching the internet for hours but this is the closest I could find. The only differences with my setup is I'm using a Denon AVR 3600h instead of a soundbar. My samsung tv is a NU8000 and then the Xbox One X of course.

I need to know if it’s possible to play atmos files from a USB connected directly to the TV.
    I got different answers like:
1- No, the TV will convert atmos into stereo.
2- you can play atmos with no issues since the files are encoded with atmos, and you have the compatible sound bar.
3- you can’t have atmos but from DISCS
    Anyway, the following link
    download.dolby.com/us/en/test-tones/dolby-atmos-trailer_amaze_1080.mp4
contains a small dolby test movie, could you download it and copy it to your USB, and plug ur USB to your tv, and then give me the feedback wether you got full atmos (Not stereo) in your TV with no issues.

Basically I’m trying to connect my Apple TV 4K to my soundbar for Dolby Atmos but I can’t seem to get it to work. I connected hdmi from the box to the soundbar( I get no source from the tv) however when I connect it from the box to the tv it works but there’s no Dolby Atmos

Cos soundbars transmit both audio and video. So the Xbox video will go into the soundbar and then soundbar into the tv

If your Samsung TV is a 2019 model you'll get a firmware update that enables Atmos playback on apps like Netflix. Older models won't get.

Bro how come when I connect my 3,5mm jack samsung smartphone headphones in to my Xbox controller, the settings for the speakers (in the Xbox settings) goes transparent meaning, I can't click on it anymore and it shows:
"HDMI audio > headset layout" "Optical audio > headset layout" and Bitstream-layout apparently is off also??? (when I unplug it, it shows Dolby atmos again and also my soundbar *Samsung Q80R* let's me know via the display that atmos is active again)
All this time I thought I was enjoying Dolby atmos sound when gaming but turns out that it gets disabled when I plug in my headphones into my controller 0_0?? And it literally turns back on when I unplug it...?
    Please help T_T

Yes because the audio changes when you are using the headphones, there is an DA app for headphones too but you have to pay for it, the audio on xbox is complicated.😏
