they were so lucky to have John Heald as their cruise director, in case you don't know it, he is the Senior Cruise Director of Carnival Cruise Lines, and one of the best!!!!! Carnival seemed to handle the situation very good, and bringing the good out of the bad.
thank you for posting this so that others have a better idea of what was going on during the fire especially during what seems to be very soon after the fire/smoke started and with having some of the anouncement
yes there was alot of smoke smell and even poo poo smell but we were all having fun for the most part--some were mean spirited about it and proably never smile--but most people took it in stride nd oviously the crew was doing the best they could--dont forget they worked hard for 4 straight days trying to make us as comfortable as possible!!!
m3trooper depends on the ship you’re on. There are even big differences within cruise lines’ (notably Princess, Norwegian in my experience) vessels in terms of where the crews hail from. On some it’s at least 80 percent Philippines, others it’s less than half.
Don't know but I think the guy in the intercom wasn't ready and for that kind of situation. Saying that smoke is as bad as fire and saying that he'll ask something to the captain that just scares more the people. When talking in this type of situation he must seem as cold and fearless as he can.
Airplanes have something like it also with a small fan that drops under the aircraft from either a lever or a manual switch in the cockpit it provides enough power for the cockpit for some instruments to function
@4049848 Usually thoes type of devices (Fire Alarms, PA, Electronic Door Locks, etc) Run off an alternative power source. Such as a Battery or Back-up Generator.
@joecraine001 I'm not a Carnival employee, I'm a travel agent, and FYI we even book bloggers cruise for people to spend time with him, we are currently taking reservations for the bloggers cruise # 4 interested??? and I take that you do read he's blog, well let me just say THANK YOU! you are part fo the 5,000,000,000 people that read it....LOL!!! :P
@twilightchick1023 Yeah, because obviously a ciggarette is an out of control flame thrower when someone is smoking it. If you don't know what you're talking about, why would you publically display your ignorance?

John Heald is awesome. I have been on three cruises with him. He is a master at what he does.
“It is just smoke our crew is fighting the smoke” I heard that in a different vid of the same cruise
Ya same

John Heald: "No fire"
I prefer my cruise directors to just give it to me straight.
ALL CREW MEMBERS = about 75% Filipino crew.

The smoke was coming from a hole in the aft- the aft hole
if the power went out how did the intercom go on?!
