You guys helped me with my water heater problem. Your video helped me understand and replace my expansion tank.
    Thank you so much

I've had my TiVo Roamio OTA for almost 2 years now. I've since upgraded its hard drive to 3tb, purchased and installed the TiVo Stream to be able to watch what it records on my phone and tablet, installed a rooftop antenna outside and even purchased the breakout cables to be able to record video from it to my old vcr (for nostalgia purposes). If you get decent antenna reception, its an amazing replacement. And I've still not taken advantage of its full potential. Next step is a home NAS that can run a plex server so that I can use it with tivo for stored/collected video files.
I honestly couldn't ask for a better product.

Good review. The Tivo Roamio OTA Vox is now out with Wifi and voice control. Same price, $399, with lifetime guide service included. Hard to beat. Pair it with a Roku, and you really have everything you need.

Thank you for the interesting video. I am hoping you can answer a situational question for me. First I love and owned several older Tivo devices. Our community HOA has a new contract with Comcast who has implemented a new service set-up which has eliminated the cable card. The streaming service has only one stream at 720p which seems backwards to me. My question is do you know how or if I there is a TIVo solution to still get LIVE cable news ( I like CNBC and CNN ) AND record one while watching the other AND get HDTV? We can not cut the cord per se as it is part of our community, but we also don't have choice of cable company. Thank you!

Being a former HOA president and Tivo enthusiast, I should know this. We never did the forced cable thing though. 720p res, why would anyone be upset at that? 🤣
There are more options available now I expect. Obviously the HOA can't limit access to DirecTV, etc., but that doesn't help with a Tivo. I'd probably go OTA for your local news, basic networks and channels, then supplement with something like RUclips TV for live sports and a bit more than basic cable. You won't have DVR functionality with it, but it may be the best of bad options.
This also strikes me as illegal. Offering cablecards is NOT OPTIONAL on the part of cable companies. They'll tell you they can't do it. They can. You may have to press, but they'll cave. Doesn't solve the 720p issue though, and they don't have to bend there. That's why at your next HOA meeting, make sure your leadership are shown the door, for entering into a lock-in contract not in the best interest of your community. 720P in 2018? Please! 😂
Let us know how things progressed. I'm curious... 👍

Nice review. Can you DVR record programs you are watching on the apps, like RUclips or VuDu?

I don't think any dvr does that. But if you find one that does let me know

I love my OTA Roamio with "All In" lifetime EPG subscription. With a good quality Antenna, ( no such thing as an HD Antenna), the reception is better than Cable. My only complaint is no support for any Skinny Bundle Streaming apps. I was hoping to just have 1 device but still need another device for access to Streaming services such as Sling TV, Direct TV Now, RUclips TV, or Hulu Live. I mistakenly assumed the Hulu app on TIVO supported their latest Live Channels service, but it doesn't.

Can this work with just basic cable? Instead of renting there DVR box can I use this with a cable card instead?

The specs say it is wifi capable, but his box needed an ethernet cable, witch is correct.

yes it has wifi,, also has ethernet port for wired connection,, to expand to other rooms with tivo mini you have to use ethernet on the roamio

I just was on Tivo's chat service with this same Q. They gave me two links to checkout:

Dude on the right....take my advice...please. Stop watching TV and go for long brisk walks or ride a bike or go to the gym. You weigh what, 300 pounds??? And your heart is how big?? 4 or 5 inches and it's supposed to pump blood to the rest of your fat body??? Stop watching TV, learn how to make salads or other healthy food, and get some excercise, ok?
