He was known by many names... in Eregion he went by Anatar lord of gifts, around Mirkwood the Necromancer of Dol Guldur, but above all he was known as the Dark Lord and the Lord of the rings.
Not really the most faithful servant. Morgoth wanted to destroy so he could remake Arda, Sauron merely wanted to dominate the inhabitants of Arda. It's a signature sign there is evil at play, when they manipulate, abuse and eat their own. Sauron planned to overthrow Morgoth all along, and this relationship of sorts is reflected in the relationship between Saruman and Sauron. Saruman planned to overthrow Sauron, by way of use of the One. When it comes to Tolkien, if something echoes it's probably with intent.
The Lord of The Rings story is just like any of my childhood stories while I was playing with my toys; the good, the evil, good prevails. Difference is I never wrote any of them and would just end abruptly when my mom calls me for dinner.
I used to be frustrated with how it felt like The Hobbit was adapted to fit the bigger story. This was until I understood that The Hobbit was written from the perspective of a hobbit as if it's audience was also hobbits. fun fact. Tolkien wanted to follow up The Hobbit by writing what would be called The Silmarilian. The LOTR was a suggestion from his publisher stating that people wanted to hear more about Hobbits.
The amount of work JRR Tolkien put into his legacy is just unimaginable. Anything created after him is just pretending to be as good....it will NEVER reach this bar he set so high.
Can you do a video on Sauron’s master Morgoth and I am interested in Morgoth because like had there been no morgoth sauron would have still been called sauron the admirable and also like had there been no morgoth there would be no balrog in Moria and Gandalf would have made it out of Moria.
Another interesting thing is that when Gandalf confronts the Balrog at the Khazad-dûm bridge he screams that he ( Gandalf) is a servant of the Secret Fire ( Eru Iluvatar) and he calls the Balrog “ Flame of Udun ” Udun was the name of the big hole Morgoth made on the ground of Middle Earth to access the core of the Earth and release demons from depths and use its fire to make dark sorceries
Sauron killed Elendil in the War of the Alliance and was killed in turn after that, as wergild, the Ring was taken by his son Isildur from the finger of Sauron.. The movies show this a tad differently
Only old Peter Jackson managed to pull it off and it's sad to see Amazon fail in every way when it could have worked, despite Peter laying the foundations already 20 years ago, even then Amazon failed to understand what Tolkien's work is about, they were better off burning a billion dollar than making the atrocious joke for a show called rings of power. Which has nothing to do with Tolkien's work.
Pointing out that Anarion and Isildur ruled co-jointly in Gondor as kings in their own right with their father, Elendil as High King of both realms in the northern city of Annuminas.
Only that morgoths second in command was actually gothmog the balrog until he died and then it was the dragon glaurung, sauron was actually a 3rd choice lol
Absolutly Yes , Melkor was his initial name when he was a Valar , when he later turned out to become the dark lord he was given the name Morgoth by Numenorians .
Saying Mairon, was known as Gorthaur, in the early First Age is not really accurate. While he was so named at that time by some, it was neither the only name nor even the most common way he was referred to. It was used between speakers of Sindarin only. Sauron, was used otherwise, though several other terms appear in various works. Sauron and Gorthaur have extremely similar meanings/connotations in Quenya and Sindarin respectively, something like "abhorred terror" or "dreaded anathema". Tolkien's propensity to give us multiple names for different places and characters can be utterly puzzling and confusing to new readers, along with those who haven't dug into the appendicies/read the Silmarilion or at least a few of the multiple versions of other tales like Beren and Luthien. It is quite possible this video came by it's perspective honestly, I certainly can't even keep all the variations of the Fall of Gondolin seperate in my head! I regularly think of Tuor wielding an axe instead of the sword Turgon had made at Ulmo's instruction, despite the axe Dramborleg NEVER appearing in any of the latest revisions made by Tolkien near the end of his life.
Technically Sauron isn't dead as he is Immortal. However, he can never again take form or harm middle earth. He put almost all of his power into the one ring so when it was destroyed he was reduced to almost nothing.
If it's directed by a skilled director, a story of Sauron could be filmed, Silmarilion could be done but if it's not well made then it's better to leave it
Both. His body was destroyed but like Gandalf and the wizards he didn’t really die but become wondering spirits. Only the Gods can return their bodies to them but Sauron put most of his power into the ring and he only served the dark god which was basically the Devil in Middle Earth. I don’t remember what happened to him or why he can’t replace Sauron’s body Gandalf, the wizards, plus a couple of other immortal creatures are equivalent to angels/demons/ fallen angels or demi-gods. They directly serve the Gods of Middle Earth.
Has anyone seen the Movie "Indiana Jones and the Lost Arc?... If you do, remember Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) when he was challenged by an Arab man with a Big/Giant Sword, but since Indiana has a better weapon at his disposal than the Arab man with a Big/Giant Sword, Indiana just pulls out his pistol and killed the man with a single shot... Same Analogy... Why does Sauron use a Sword over them if he has some Power more powerful than the sword (medieval weaponry)?... logically speaking... does not make any sense at all...
The Numenorians had lost a great deal of their former power after the sinking of Akalabeth ( numenor). Their fight against Sauron was much more difficult because of it. There is a lot more to the Story of Numenor and it deserves its own mini series.
IDK abt u, but I see ALOT of Biblical references in this. Just like C.S.Lewis's Narnia, which should be expected bc Tolkien & C.S.Lewis were good friends.

Its great to see Tolkiens mythos become popular, its a truly a tremendous story.
A new definition for 'epic' needs to be created for Tolkien's work.
It's premeditated content for the Amazon Tolkien series
You can thank Peter Jackson for that. If he didn’t make the LOTR movie trilogy, a lot more people wouldn’t have discovered Tolkien.

There will be a TV show on Amazon.
