@@alanrossreviews Yes true but I was planning to buy tribit maxsound plus upgraded version. So just checked out this video to see hows the video lag was in bluetooth 4.0 so now it offers bluetooth 5.0. Hence I assumed with the lag, I would be able to stream movies on my laptop and use it to watch movies.
Not at all! I for my part don't always buy the newest products but like to see what fits my intended use the best. And it's great to have an overview like that. So this video is much appreciated! And well done. Cheers! :)
Thank you very much Alan for taking the time and making the effort to make this comparison :-) , from my end i can say that I have tested youtube (and downloaded content) videos on my 3 year old laptop (Acer swift 3, Windows 10) and the latency issues differ (as you've said you'll get different results on different hardware). with the tribit maxsound plus it's 300ms instead of 200ms ...same for JBL flip 5. Sony xb30 and Jbl flip 3 had no noticeable latency issues (or mild ones) and JBl charge 3 has a mild one which i didn't measure but it's not a big deal. so it seems at least from my testing that the older Bluetooth speakers that had version 4.1 were more compatible for my pc and the newer ones had more latency issues. but maybe it's just a coincidence and testing with more speakers will show different results. Thanks again.
Excellent video Alan! I’m glad I happened upon it. I got a JBL charge 4 last week for my mom to watch live church services on her iPad Air 3rd gen. I assumed the JBL would a great addition but wow was I wrong. Horrible audio delay with movies. So bad it seemed like it was dubbed. Before finding your review I was going to return the jbl and stick with the iPod speakers. I’m looking for the MiniRig mini 2 but doesn’t seem to be readily available in U.S. however directly from MiniRig though. The Minirig3 is available on Amazon US if anybody looking
Hi, great video. It looks like per your stats that the JBL extreme 1 has very low latency but unless I’m mistaken it looks like you have the JBL extreme 2, based on the bass radiator design. Am I mistaken? When I watch the video when you’re testing it looks like the Extreme 1 but when you are filming at your desk it looks like the Extreme 2. Just trying to confirm which one is the one that was actually tested. Thanks again.
Just subs your channel.. great explanation ! Anyway, im user of motion+, have u tried playing those unit in gaming ? I feel lil bit latency when play.. quite annoy me..
Seems to me there is no delay when I input to the Denon from the TV on a 3.5 mini jack. But when I got the numark decks on the go and plugged them in phono to Mini jack, there was a delay between the headphones and the speaker. Wonder if there is a device to delay the output to match the 2? Also, same sound quality when I have the speaker on low volume and TV higher, and minimal hiss... I will be getting a second 1! Compared it to the xb32 the other day and it was much better. Your reviews really helped me and I am very happy with it.
How much is 'way shorter' 😁? Will it be appropriate to watch videos with the flip essential on a laptop (macbook in my case) or is there still some lip synch issue? Thank you 😊
What would be an ultraportable speaker (extremely pocket friendly - in terms of size especially and budget to some extent :D ) that has very very low latency.
Can you do a latency test for Anker Soundcore 2?? I want to buy that speaker but the only thing preventing me from doing so is it's audio lag while watching youtube or netflix
Perhaps explaining how to adjust the audio delay using different apps would have been helpful, eg Media Player Classic allows you to pre-bias the audio in either direction.
I was a bit shocked that my new Anker speakers (mini 3 and boost) had unacceptable latency for video. I won't be retiring my "dinosaur" speakers in a hurry as they had minimal latency (yet to test my Flip 4). Surprised that technology has taken a step backward in this regard.
The Anker Soundcore 2 has a massive latency problem. I bought the speaker to link (via cable) to my Akai MPC One, but the lag makes it useless. It's a great speaker, but the latency with the MPC One is too great.

The sammy S10 has BT 5.0, but most JBL's have 4.2 or something... Sir Ross, he is asking about the bluetooth versions on the devices, it's similar to usb 2.0 3.0 etc, bluetooth 5.0 is faster, longer ranged and has less lag.

How can something have negative latency?
its a lip sync test, quite easily, both devices have to handshake and tell each other the latency
when i use an aux cord the lag will be gone right?
