I was thinking the same thing... her friends were probably on food stamps & that is why they got free food, I had friends in school who received free meals bc of this, has nothing to do w race.

My county qualified for a program a few years ago that gave everyone free lunch. I wish that other systems would have this program as well.

She saw other people mostly of a given race getting something for free her family presumably had to pay for. She called that a privilege. You can disagree with that for valid reasons but it’s a convincing perspective to those who feel attacked for being white.

The problem in ur country is u label ur citizens too much instead of just saying ‘Americans’ rather than African American, Asian American, Hispanic American etc etc. I reckon that is causing division & segregation. Here in Australia, we don’t have to specify what ‘race’ we belong unless if u r from First Nations background. Purely for cultural sensitivity, support and different entitlements they have. Otherwise, we r all Australians regardless the colour of ur skin. We work as a nation not as a separate entity.

Also, the Civil Rights Movement ended with a series of targeted assassinations of it's leadership and the mass incarceration of it's activists, plus they never did anything about the segregation that was developed during Jim Crow. They literally, intentionally, built a self-sustainable white supremacist hierarchy and went like "Ok, ok, we'll just leave it as is, racism over gang, woo!" and called it a day while people continue to die in the state ghettos.
Only the indigenous people are Americans!

Wendy and Rene have their point of view based upon experience. Both women worked hard and ever asked for a hand out. For the longest time, I never got anything special without brainstorming to hurricane proportions and working my tail end off in order to achieve my goals. I attended public school all of my life and worked alongside blacks, latinos, asians and whites to earn our high school diplomas! I then enlisted into the United States Air Force. During my tenure, all types of people of America were united for one purpose and that was to serve our nation gracefully and honorably! I attended college in Manhattan and worked alongside a diverse group of students, who studied and researched our way into a college degree. I also work with my labor union, alongside many people from all walks of life to make a better life for working people in New York City and far beyond. I even wrote a self published novel called: Guardians, which I'm so proud of this accomplishment. I'm honored and blessed to meet all of the good people in my life and thank them for making my life awesome!
This is not a collective issue, its a selective one. Racism exists but cannot be tracked, or abolished because ignorance will always exist. As a psychologist I'm surprised Dr. Phil would feed this narrative.
Not to mention that a lot of times when someone cries racism it ends up either being a hoax or there is nothing to suggest it had anything to do with race. The left in this country is feeding this narrative that the system is set up to discriminate against black people when there is little to no evidence to support it and it's simple, it's about power, they want to divide the country so they can convince certain segments that the left are needed to protect them from "systemic racism" and Dr.Phil is just as guilty.

When your parents create this narrative in you that you are oppressed due to your race, you believe your race defines you. I cannot believe we are accepting this as truth. Our perceptions are not always factual. Dr Phil spends his days telling people that their perception do not excuse their behaviors so it is surprising to see him embrace this one.

Banks aren’t withholding money from blacks because they only care if you can actually pay back a loan. If they were actually racist, you would probably see banks granting them more loans they know they can’t pay back so they can take the collateral. There is no white privilege. I am a white male who has been poor his whole life. Privilege is where you inherit wealth and property from your parents. Privilege is when you get your education paid for by someone else instead of having to drown in student loan debt. Privilege is getting a job because of your skin color (affirmative action) instead of merit. Privilege is people assuming when you fail in life it’s because of people’s racial prejudices against you instead of your own shortcomings. As a poor white male im seen as a lazy loser even though I work 40 hours a week and pay for everything. A poor black man is seen as a victim and people actually have empathy for him.
In the broader picture, 50 years ago blacks weren't allowed to own property, the intergenerational wealth that has caused is still felt today. I too am a poor white man but there are a lot more rich white families out there than there are rich black families.
I think the idea of white privilage is being used as an attack in this case, it's based on assumptions based on skin color and statistics, not on the individual.

You don't know what it's like being black. Stop trying to be a victim because you were American poor, where as others don't have access to clean water you had people to raise you and fund your way to being a worker. Most don't have parents or guardians for that. The moment you start your point by saying "you were poor", you're already building up victimhood as if it was exclusive to you and you somehow made a miracle happen, when in reality, you was living better than 90% of the world's population. Affirmative action was done as a response to segregation and blacks being denied jobs because of their skin color. tbh, we don't want hand outs, never believed affirmative action was needed, but conditioning white people to not be racist was necessary to have a country "united". You had centuries of white people who were taught to see blacks and natives as subhumans. All of a sudden that changes? Even in your response, you lack sympathy and understanding of what it is to be black. Having a black friend doesn't given you understanding. The difference is, you can look back on your ancestors and know they didn't face slavery or a chance to build generational wealth. You were "poor", but you had family with money or government assistance. Theres generations of people who never had access to those because they denied of employment for their skin color. That is part of American history. Majority of American history consisted of slavery. So how you're gonna act like its the same thing you working when your ancestors never worked for free, yet black people worked for FREE for centuries. 40 hours isn't even a lot. I work 60 hours a week, run business while staying physically active and happy everyday. I don't let racism get in me way and I know a lot of people that don't. But I'm not a dumbass who ignores the context of history and knows privilege comes from how this country was built. You got to be an uneducated fool to act unaware whites were given access to owning homes, properties, gun laws were favoring them, access to country clubs, etc for the majority of American history. The after effects of that still exist today and it has bred a collection of coddled white boys like you who go on RUclips and act like victims because you're afraid to read a book. White incels who swear they worked harder than anyone but can't figure out what historical context means. Did your ancestors build a country for free, got raped and their history, language and education stripped off them? It's not about living in the past, but understanding it from a fair perspective. I got Irish in me and that "whites were slave" nonsense is a myth too, being a indentured servant isn't a slave. Anyone who knew the differences would say this, it doesn't take much effort to educate yourself. You work 40 hours a week to be an unhappy white incel trying to tell people about racism online. They got them because their parents can’t afford to pack lunches for them.Most black and Asian parents have manual jobs with minimal salaries which go to rent and electricity/water bills and all these other bills if the government is helping them what’s it to you it’s not like schools pick children to give free food they give it to those who need it

Again that is not a good argument because free lunch isn't dictated by race, it's dictated by socioeconomic status which has nothing to do with race, there are poor white people out there as well who get free lunch.

@Hypergamy Means She'll Monkey Branch my mother was a single WORKING woman trying to raise three children on her own. My sperm donor basically gave her pennies in the form of child support. She tried the best she could and thanks to the free lunch program we all received lunch at school. When she did marry my stepfather we no longer qualified. I thank God that there are such programs out there for the parents like my mom who worked but still didn't make much.
Good for these ladies, speaking the truth. I earned everything I have 100%. Nobody gave it to me, I worked hard and paid for it myself.

The "real story of slavery" is that slavery has existed in EVERY human civilization since before written word... but OUR civilization was the first to ABOLISH it...

Also, it's pretty weird to classify what happened to the natives as a genocide, which by definition has to be purposeful, considering that 90% of the Dead died from disease, not by war or anything. Also it's important to recognize that most native Americans who survived beyond dis ease ended up marrying the settlers, so it's much less of a genocide and much more of an interbreeding. That's why to this day so many supposedly white Americans claim to have native American/Indian ancestry, they literally do.

What is Privilege?
a) Privilege is wearing $200 sneakers when you’ve never had a job.
b) Privilege is wearing $300 Beats headphones while living on public assistance.
c) Privilege is having a Smartphone with a Data plan, which you receive no bill for.
d) Privilege is living in public subsidized housing where you don’t have a utility or phone bill and where rising property taxes, rents and energy costs have absolutely no effect on the amount of food you can put on your table, which is largely covered by Government Food Stamps.
e) Privilege is having free health insurance for you and your family that's paid for by working taxpayers who often can't afford proper health coverage for their own families.
f) Privilege is having multiple national organizations promoting and protecting just your race alone -- that are subsidized by federal tax dollars.
g) Privilege is having access to a national college fund that supports only one race.
h) Privilege is having a television network that supports only one race.
i) Privilege is having most of the media news networks refuse to cover incidents wherein one race (one-eighth of the population) commits 50% of the crimes.
j) Privilege is the ability to go march against, and protest against anything that triggers you, without worrying about calling off from work and the consequences that accompany such.
k) Privilege is having as many children as you want, regardless of your employment status, and be able to send them off to daycare or pre-school you don’t pay for.
l) Privilege is being able to vote in many states without showing a driver's license, voter ID card or other credentials -- just because your race claims they should be exempt from such requirements.
m) Privilege is being able to riot, loot, commit arson and tear down historic monuments without consequences -- just because you don't like folks such as Columbus, U. S. Grant or even Lincoln.
n) Privilege is being able to get into almost any college of your choosing based on your race, not your grades or merit
o) Privilege is having most of your life paid for by the working men and women who DO HAVE TO DEAL WITH RISING TAXES AND COSTS! you know, those you now call “PRIVILEGED.”

@FreShDoGZ I've seen lots of black people working in respectable jobs in many different environments. One of them came out of the ghetto in LA and moved here locally. He doesn't sag his pants, he doesn't mumble when he talks and he doesn't have a criminal record. He now manages one of the local Verizon stores here. Let's just all remember that it's not the color of your skin but the choice that we make in life that determine our success.

The problem is victim mentality and the lack of “tough skin.” I’m white but I’ve got a darker complexion. I work in the hospital and I get asked all the time “oh, you don’t speak Spanish?” Or “where are you from?” Big, freaking deal. Get over it and move on.

This issue require s a group of people adept in one, or all, fields of history, psychology and social studies with diverse, profound perspectives. It simply can't be discussed in forty-five minutes. I get, and (lord, help us,) agree with, what Phil was trying to do, even if it was somewhat questionable, but he did exactly that. Nevertheless, I stand vindicated. Edit: for clarity sake, I disagree with those two women. Some of their points are valid, though they're trivialising serious issues. This is all my opinion. It's an outsider's perspective, as I'm not American. (I'm a bloody proud Aussie!) If you disagree, that's completely fine, and, as such, I cannot argue with you.
I agree, topics like this need to be discussed from actual researchers or people who have a lot more understanding of it. Not a TV doctor.

Well that was annoying on both ends, lol.
So first off anyone that has to share their accolades to try and prove a point or make themselves sound smarter is a bit messed up. Also while I’m not saying what Dr. Gomez is saying never happened to her. I worked in retail and I never have once ask a Hispanic person if they speak English. Most the time if they have a question and don’t speak English they will ask if you speak Spanish and normally most retail places have someone who can speak Spanish to help the customer so that could be why they are asking if you speak English if they even ever do.
