The unusual instrument is a medieval halberd weapon with strings attached to it, and played a bit like a double bass. They’ve used it in a couple of their other videos and have nicknamed it the “thunder harp”.
The instrument you're referring to (played by Hauptman Feuerschwanz) is a custom. The band calls it a Thunderharp. It's the neck and strings from a bass strapped to a halberd/poleaxe. Whether or not it is actually functional is still up for debate. Jarne Hodison, the one with the ponytail, is the actual bassist of the band.
