So, to clarify: the whole "hit in the head with a shovel" thing is a Sabbat ritual. For some of their turnings, not so much anymore, the person would be embraced (bitten and turned into a vampire), before being knocked out with a shovel and buried "alive". This would traumatize the newly-turned vampire and would make them embrace the beast, and they would, most of the time, emerge from the grave ready to become Sabbat.
Also, the recruits this was done to were actually called "Shovelheads". Kinda makes me wonder if that was Pyotr's intention with the family, given that was what he called Door.
In episode one, he also referred to the lot of them as 'future shovelheads,' so I think that's confirmed.
Also worth noting that, through the Sabbat's own blend of hypocrisy, shovelheads aren't considered real vampires. You only get to call yourself a cainite once you've undergone the formal 'rites of creation', and shovelheading is not a rite of creation. A shovelhead is, at best, a weapon. At worst, little better than a ghoul until they've gained a sponsor.
This is pretty much sabbat strategy. Whenever they go on the strike they just smack you and turn you into mobile meat for the kill. Hell Pyotr was embraced during Sabbath operations. Any other vampires would have convoluted plans but Sabbats just rush anything turning any human to vampire like no problem. Like not even full on Sabbath. People might not even realize they been turned and get killed off either by humans, hunters or any other sane vampire.

I don't think the shovel thing was Kitten. The Sabbat on occasion likes to dabble in a strategy employing shovelheads. Killing and vampirizing a bunch of people and burying them in a shallow mass grave to serve as foot soldiers. Leads to pretty nasty psychotic vampires. The name comes from the practice of KOing the new Vampire with a shovel, so you can bury them.
that, and even if knocked in a mass grave.. someone needs to have been here to Embrace ape, else he would have been a corpse, not a vampire. And despitre the theories, i really doubt Kitten is one (I think its just that his mouth isn't drawn most of the time for artistic reasons to match a little more his TTS full armor look, but its shown quite often enough that I really doubt the lower half of his face is actually covered up)
@@thorveim1174 I actually think he is fully covered, because to me even the drawn in mouth looks covered by fabric. However I don't think it is vampirism but rather some form of werebeast. Remember before he threw the boot he sniffed the air... and seemed to know Pyotr was in the area.
@@aquila4460 didnt notice any sniffing.. however I have a big doubt about him being a were-creature too: if he was one, he'd probably know full well already that a werewolf would be FAR more dangerous than the group of vampires they fought... yet he seemed to think it wouldn't be so bad before Big D corrected him. Also you'd think he would have transformed after witnessing his lover getting stomped bloody by someone who would have NO issue making his head pop like a grape, especialy with the kind of anger he clearly displayed here.
I think kitten is just cat-themed like he was in TTS, nothing more, with the full (or close to) full body cover as a callback to his TTS look (though nothing is stopping Alfabusa's team from making it a plot point).

And i intentionally said werecreature and not werewolf, while I must admit I don't know the world of darkness well I saw someone else mention bastets as werecreatures that don't start with innate abilities and knowledge and that they have to be taught instead.
@@aquila4460 Actually most supernatural creatures lack the intrinsic knowledge of what they are, especially if they're at least partly human. Also, werecreatures may not undergo their first transformation for decades, while some can do so from birth.
The "Hit in the head with a shovel and tossed in a mass grave thing" is a classic Sabbat recruitment schtick: they round up a bunch of mortals, smack them with a shovel, embrace them and bury them together in a hole so the (ravenous) newborn vampires must dig their way out through the dirt (and often the others which have been buried with them). The point is both "survival of the fittest" and to give them a brutal traumatic experience to start off stripping them of their humanity. Hence the slur "shovelhead" to refer to their newbies (and at times mortals).

Pretty sure Pyotr and his pack (especially Shitbeard) used the term shovellhead while talking to the main cast as well.

Generally speaking, Hunters tend to end up seven flavors of 'fucked up' at the end of the day. Disregarding the possibility of Kitten being some flavor of were-critter, this is a pretty typical end to a hunt.
Generally, you will have more success if you are part of some ancient hunter sect or the new inquisition.
... It just occurred to me that, other then Big D, most of the damage to the was done to Marcus by his own family and himself.
I wouldn't be shocked if he has werecat blood but in this universe are loners and don't cause a big hiccup like their werewolf rivals so hunters don't take notice of them let alone them breeding with humans.

If shapeshifters mate with each other, their offspring are deformed and hideous. These are known as Metis, and the punishment for the parents is death, while the Metos are shunned by their pack.

One of the Sabbat's standard tactics when they need something dead is to grab a lot of randos off the street, Embrace them, hit them over the head with a shovel and bury them "alive" in a giant mass grave, forcing the fledglings to dig themselves out.
When they do so, the vampires are deep in a murderous rage. The Sabbat then herd all these frenzied vampires towards whatever they want dead at the moment as highly aggressive cannon fodder.
Shovelheads, as they're called, are then treated as....not really "members" of the Sabbat if they survive whatever they were created for, but kinda like interns/emergency rations where if they're smart, skilled, and very lucky they MIGHT be promoted to full membership status. This is, of course, prefaced with the fact that as they are not yet "True Sabbat" pretty much anyone can kill them for basically any reason and no one will really give a shit.

The text on the shovel is just a lawyer friendly way of spelling Poundland, i.e. the British version of a dollar store.
Most likely a reference to the joke in Kevin's interview.

They have MAJOR anger problems, and when they freak out and frenzy they either run away or murder everything around them
Werecreatures are DANGEROUS. Think werewolves as they are werecreatures, the werecats are about as strong as werewolves
So makes sense he is afraid of himself becoming a 9 foot tall killing machine, with rage issues so intense it makes integrating with humans difficult
Only the simba and khan can match a garou in strength, the rest of the bastet breeds aren't as strong, but they can compensate in other ways by being fast, having good stealth or having access to ancient Egyptian magick.

I really doubt Kiten is a werecreature. he seems pretty unaware about just how dangerous they can be after all (when he thought a werewolf wouldn't be any worse than the vampires). Also Pyotr reacting casually with "weirdo" tells me the more catlike traits were here for comedic effect, not an actual transformation.
Kitten may just have some deep seated hatred of leaders that don't care about their subordinates.

Vampires in WoD do not have Innate Darkvision, they get better used to seeing things at night but unless they have Auspex, they do not see more than the average person would unless incredibly perceptive.
Also a gun does not discharge on drop unless the hammer is already cocked, the only way Markus would have hurt himself would be if he tried to catch it (and he likely did, he has no Firearms training)

What Kitten did was to strike at Pyotr's PRIDE. He says he's beyond human but he feels very human emotions like Rage, he falls victim to Pride, a VERY Human failing, his principles are more of how Humans get when law and order cease to matter, namely that the Strong rule and the Weak Perish.

I'm kinda new to White Wolf. I understood that Diablerizing gives vampire other vampires powers, but does it also give their weaknesses as well? Like, could Pyotr's rage also potentially be result of consuming brujah?
I just want to say that MODERN guns can not discharge when dropped, but old revolvers (like the one they did drop, I am assuming since I can't know when it was assembled) can, because the hammer would be up against the primer of the cartridge, so a hard enough shock to the revolver actually could ignite the primer and fire the bullet. This is 100% impossible on modern guns though.

Yes, well, kinda, Diablerizing is not simply eating to gain their powers, you are consuming the vampires very soul itself and their soul and your soul enter a battle for the body's possession, the one who wills is generally the one with the biggest willpower.
But even if you win and gain their powers, there's sometimes a few side-effects, like permanently gaining a piece of their memories, mannerisms, cravings and other stuff like confusing your name with their own or caring about things only they would, it is the same if they win and get your body by the way.

There is no hammer, sure, but there is still a striker that hits the primer when the trigger is pulled, which is NOT seated up against the primer. What, exactly, sets off the primer in the cartridge when a modern gun is dropped if not the striker?? It just randomly goes off by itself? Is that why bullets just randomly explode and go off when you drop one?? What are you talking about?

This is in fact a trait of the traditional vampire society's view of mortals; they call them "kine", an old term for cattle. They literally view them the way a lion views a zebra: prey, i.e. something to hunt down, kill and eat.

To be honest there are many different ways vampires view humans. For example the first true bruja wanted to create perfect human and vampire society but failed. Sabbath in all ways beyond humans because they lack humanity something that vampires actually can have. And oh for the love of God don't let me get started on Theodors. Honestly they did really showing different vampires because Pyotr team actually had different clan members. Brujah, perhaps malkavian. Not sure about Ape. He gave me Grangel vibes but might be different.

So, there might be a reason behind the slight change in Pyotrs behavior, not entirely sure however since I dont know the lore that well myself:
But I am led to believe that when a vampire diablerizes another of their kind its not as simple and mundane as killing them, its doing a Shang Sung and eating their soul as well. But sometimes, instead of merely being swallowed up, the victims soul can linger and battle for control within the consciousness of the vampire that consumed them. So my hunch is that Pyotr is a little different now because of the other two altering his personality.
Granted, I think Pyotr was always a self interested dickhead, happy to let others squabble while putting himself into position. So the changes are very minor

So Kitten "could" be a Bastet and if Big D is a werewolf it would adequately explain pulling a Grand Claive out of his butt cheeks, however I feel that falls more into Mage Territory, as Big D reminds me of a "very" messed up Cultist of Exstasy based off his tactical drug use and/or torture techniques, or perhaps some other form of "Prime" caster cause he does "not" reek of traditional Celestial Chorus,especially if they are keeping this as a Prequel to 40k tts. Also in personal opinion, if Kitten is a Bastet he wouldn't have all this info wrong to begin with, however it "does" look like the file notes of a young Technocratic hacker, who only knows what he found on the internet about vampires.

I'm sure a few people have said this already but I don't want to skim over the comments until after the video, just in case. One thing I think you missed with Kitten's "dumb enough to accept you" line is that, well, for Nosferatu that is the perfect cut to the bone for them. Your the first person I've seen raise the idea that this is something personal to Kitten as well, which makes far too much sense, but I think we can expect the writing of Bruva and his group to work on multiple levels, haha. See, Nosferatu are the most hideous and ugly of vampires, visibly monstrous to any and all who see them. They also are usually recruited from people who are already social outcasts and generally miserable. Nosferatu have to live at the outskirts of even vampire society, unwanted and unloved, with only each other for support and they're all a bunch of flipping misanthropes. So an actual community of allies, even if they're not the chummiest? One that you then kill yourself, proving that it's dumb for anyone to get close to you? Yeah, that's a deep cut.
So we saw two madmen slowly matching wavelengths in Big D and Kevin.
And we all know how this crew tends to turn seemingly insignificant moments and gags into major plot point.

I’m both bursting with excitement and trembling in terror at the prospect of what Bruva, Karl and the rest of the crew might do with a Malkavian.
The thing with the Agent dancing and firing into the crowd seems to be that he accidentally grabbed the trigger during the heat of the moment, rather than being from the gun going off on impact.
Still agree that throwing firearms is a dumb idea but there’s a homicidal vampire loose, I think I can forgive them tossing guns to each other. Door sucks at tossing though.

Oh, also! Bruva confirmed on his patreon update, the next audiolog is...actually late and was supposed to come out last Friday. But see, they had the entire audiolog recorded and edited, ready to upload, when they realized it didn't address the cliffhanger with the police. So they then had to write, record, and hurry to edit an entirely knew one. Unfortunately, they didn't make the deadline and had to delay it, but it'll be out this coming Friday, tomorrow. As for the one they had already made, that'll be for the last Friday of this month.
Honestly, I'm just glad there's more coming out, either for HtP or the new four part series he's working on. Alpha just does a good job making fun videos. :)

Hunters have powers in world of darkness. One of the less obvious ones being minor regeneration. Not enough to grow back a limb but enough to be more durable then normal and recover in weeks what will normally take months.
Confirmed by Bruva, not sure if there will be more Hunter the Parenting. His next project seems to focus on a Half-Life project called Half-Life: Zero Viscosity, a four episode affair.
Well it does say Arc One, implying there will be more arcs. And he set up so much shit w/the audiolog w/Kevin that he needs to conclude it sometime. I think everyone would be fine w/waiting for more tho and letting him work on other projects.
Oh no no, there will be PLENTY of HTP. Mainline episodes will take a small break for Zero Viscosity, but we'll be making plenty of HTP content during that time, and most especially afterwards.

The back flip video was that he panicked when it drop and in his rush to pick it up he accidentally pulled the trigger
This episode helped me learn a few things:
Door has good taste in movies.
Boy was taught proper gun discipline and a crack shot.
Big D may need to take a bigger gamble with the info he drip feeds his family.
Sabbat bury their cannon fodder Embraced in mass graves, thus called Shovelheads.
Kitten is possibly a werecat called a Bastet, and definitely better at foreward thinking than his fiancé.
Marckus needs to hit the range and get a gun. I recommend the .475 Wildey Magnum because A.) Death Wish is kino, and B.) See a vampire regrow his sternum after blowing it clear out his torso. Gonna need satellite imaging and tracking to find that heart after getting hit with an African game cartridge.

The traditional "method" for creating new vampires within the Sabbat is to smash their head in with a shovel, feed them vampire blood, bury them, and watch them claw their way out. I think the justification is that the horror of doing so helps to chip away at their already shaky sense of humanity. Or something. It is very silly in my opinion but its the established lore of the setting. Probably not related to any hunter activities of our characters....although they are hunters so a mass grave of unnatural thing out back isn't out of the question.
Shovelheading is a common sabbat requirement technique.
Cream Crackers are Crackers made with Cream, Arier. They are very tasty despite technically being bland. I sometimes leave them for a while to age so the sourdough taste can develop.
Think Chicken crackers. crackers with a faint hint of chicken blended in. Cream crackers can "just" have the flavor baked into it as a stand alone cracker, OR it could be crackers oreo'ed with cream between them, its rather ambiguous which one they are referring to but I'm leaning towards the latter.
Or justp ut cheese and butter on it to get the flavor to kick in

Personal critique the fly landing on Bid D's butt. Pretty sure that was a ghouled familiar, and Pyotr would be the vampire to know the difference, aka it felt like a "yer totally @#$#@$'ed now" moment, why else would he laugh at that? Why else would they show us that?
Ape is a Shovelhead; a Sabbat term for a sort of ritual where they embrace multiple people, knock 'em out with a shovel on turning and bury them in mass graves to see which ones can crawl out.
Cream crackers are just square crackers that you can put stuff like butter or cream cheese or any kind of spread onto. In my country they're called sandwich crackers/biscuits.

It is apt to say that Vampires aren't really beyond human as Pyotr is convinced, or the Sabbat in general, but rather they embody all of the worst aspects of humanity with morality and inhibitions removed.

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one
E.O.D. Explosive Ordnance Disposal. These are the guys you call to disable and, as there name implies, dispose of ordnance. Which can range from hand grenades all the way up to unexploded artillery shells, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and various other explosives. The fact that Door was likely an EOD makes him more terrifying, because he has likely seen people turned into pink mist or paste, so he is probably de-sensitized as hell.
At the end, Pyotr fell into torpor from all the damage he took. Technically, he was still kicking. Only the sun finished him off.
22:49 Definitely reading into this too much, though I’m a bit confused in how you got this connection when these death dates are the dates these 3 were turned, so there is little to no evidence of Kitten being involved.
Regarding the shovel, it’s likely something that either Kitten or any of the others bought for either the house or to partially bury the mines, likely being Big D since it essentially reads Poundland on the shovel and given that he can be very stingy about money, so it wouldn’t be out of the question for him to have went out and got one for cheap.

With The eod suit being Doors 'old mining equipment', his mining days are actually military Service (USA army most likely) as an eod specialist.
By 'mining', he probably armed, and disarmed mines.
Vampires in WoD technically have a circulatory system, since they need some way to circulate their special, processed blood called Vitae through their systems. It's why stabbing one through the heart just disables them since you're just cutting off their power supply. So yes Pyotr saying it'll heal in a heartbeat is him being literal since his heart would beat to circulate Vitae to his leg to heal it back.
Small detail:
The Camarilla are not pro-Antediluvian. Most of those older vampires are regarded as mythical figures. Officially, the Camarilla don't regard Antediluvians as a threat or dismiss concerns about them as superstition. They're more secular than the Sabbat that way. The Sabbat has a stronger religious streak and take those olde timey tales more seriously and have a lot more vampire eschatology going on. Though it's basically an open secret that there's some broader war for influence going on through invisible blood bond influences from older vampires to younger. The vampires refer to this political game as the "Jyhad." The older vampires spend increasingly more time in torpor, sleeping centuries and waking up. After a point, the older vampires are no longer sated by simple mortal blood and begin to feed on the more potent blood of their children.
The Ventrue are a Clan (bloodline) of vampires stereotypically associated with the ruling class of the Camarilla. A lot of their powers, as you might expect, revolve around social Jedi Mind trick type of stuff (i.e. Presence and Dominate Disciplines). Though they also have access to Fortitude disciplines to make them tougher. Of course, there are still some Ventrue in the ranks of the Sabbat and Anarchs, but the majority are Camarilla. They're referred to as "blue bloods" because they style themselves aristocrats and tend to turn humans who have wealth, social power and influence.
Pyotr is taking shots at how stuffy they are. Though I honestly find it strange he specifically picks out the more theatrical vampire stuff about unlife and "the modern night" goth shit, since all vampires tend to be melodramatic like this. The Sabbat in particular are very larpy and more prone to doomsday religious prophesying and mystical gobbledygook.

Their "Distorting & Warping a static 2d image" method of animation has come a long way, I remember them trying it in one of the TTS episodes (I don't remember which) & it looked pretty bad & uncanny, but now it's pretty great. You can see what they're doing but it displays the emotions they are going for without breaking the models face or looking super weird

The eye thing: no those eyes are colored that way because its a power that he activated: Protean lvl 1, Eyes of the Beast. Its a power he sucked out of Ape boy in episode 2. It allow near perfect night vision... but with the counter-effect that it make your eye glow yellow/red in the dark. So upside: you see everything in the dark, downside everyone in the room will see you. not quite a light beam effect but at least 2 mildly litted spot in the night. Also that's not permanent, should someone point a flashlight toward his face, he would be blinded for a moment and turn them off, after wich his eyes would return to their dark and sunken appearance.
I doubt kitten have garou lineage. If so the others would be unconfortable around him and big D would be able to determine what he is. Its a far milder version of the delirium but others feel a weak and fleeting sense of danger when you are around. something quite similar the effect of a blank in 40K.
Vampires dont have a system: they are factually undead. Their blood does not circulate and is'nt being diggested. A dead heart doesnt need oxygen to work so lungs are offline too. Hell, even their brain wont show any electrick signal on any medical scan. That is why Door call him "blank", by all modern definition, a vampire is clinicly dead. for the rest... well most of it is handwave away as "bloodmagic". Even if the lungs dont work, they have to breath a bit for the vampire to talk. The body cant and wont produce tear or saliva... but rather a very clear and transparent blood will replace it. Otherwise a vampire eyes and mouth would be a permanent bloody mess. Ho fun fact, their undead state prevent them from using any modern technology using a touch screen. You need to be alive to produce static electricity.

Okay I need to comment on the dropped gun discharging thing, it isn't like in the movies where if you drop a firearm it will go off. It is a supremely rare thing that it does even if the safety is not on, and in a older model gun with looser tolerances, and fewer safeties. With newer firearms it becomes so incredibly rare that it might as well not be a thing that can occur. Now, this does not mean you should just drop guns all willy nilly, because even if there's a 0.00001% chance that it can cause the firearm to accidentally discharge YOU DO NOT DO IT! Just needed to spread the info that it doesn't work like in the movies.

It still pains me going back to this and hearing Airier dismiss Pyotr's claims about being Sabbat because he just doesn't know what being Sabbat actually means. I know he's more educated now and that he would learn more about the Sabbat as time went on, which is why I held my tongue back when I first saw this, but DAMN if my blood doesn't still boil at the thought.
And for those of you wondering what the Hell I'm talking about, ANY vampire can declare themselves to be a member of the Sabbat, and the Sabbat is founded on the idea of rejecting those facets of humanity that are no longer essential to life as a vampire. Guilt, shame, attachment, general human decency and morality? All abandoned in favor of brutal animalistic rage, hedonistic indulgence, and a cold cruel logic that disregards the perceived value of human and vampire life in a manner that can often be declared 'objectively evil'. It's the logic of intelligent apex predators who are tired of playing by the rules of the prey they used to be. So when Pyotr says that he's the goddamn Sabbat and beyond human, he's not wrong, and he's conducting himself like a wolf explaining to a rabbit why he doesn't care about killing other animals, including other wolves. This is the core philosophy of the Sabbat; to embrace the Beast and become an idealized version of their new vampiric selves without succumbing to it and becoming mindless animals, or having to shackle themselves to the laws and restrictions of polite vampire society.

Plus some of tge Hunter's can use the so called "True faith". Basically any cross won't work on vampire unless the user has true faith. Basically it allows them to pull some magic stuff and blind them or something.
