  • There's one reason why we are all getting so tired of our favorite FPS games across the board. Whether it's valorant, COD, APEX, Overwatch, really all of them suffer from this same problem.

    I don't think people play games just for the extrinsic reward the game gives you. The most important thing is that the game is fundamentally fun and rewarding intrinsically.

    • @jonei
      @jonei  Год назад

      I agree with that to some extent however it also partially depends on the game. Though if that was completely true then we wouldn't need content patches to keep players interested. There is a reward to playing the game, but that reward can only be obtained so much before we eventually get bored and move onto something else. And since all of these companies advertise the games as live service, it's expected that they deliver on that promise and keep rewarding us for playing. Also to keep updating the game to ensure it is fundamentally rewarding intrinsically. In the end, regardless if it's internal or external, we are driven by reward, and unfortunately that is not what these companies tend to focus on. Instead they focus on them bills lol

    I would probably buy the battle pass for games if after the season is over I can still complete the battle pass and if it's like season two or something I can still go back and purchase the previous season battle pass

    • @jonei
      @jonei  Год назад +1

      I 100% agree with this. If it's paid for you should 100000% be able to go back and finish them at a later time. It sucks that these companies try to force you to play within a time period to get something. Not everyone has the capability to do that and honestly they probably would make more money with your approach. However I think their concern is current player count and maintaining consistent retention, which is something that can't be avoided. In fact it's good to do those things. The main problem with that is the approach they always take tends to be the wrong one, (the greedy one).
      Rather than focus on providing a good experience to the player, they focus on manipulative ways to maintain retention.
      There is also the argument of making battle pass rewards limited to keep it unique for the players who achieved it within that time. Some people actually like that and I understand why. But there are other ways to achieve that and I don't think battle passes are the way to do so.

      @@jonei I understand why people want the BPs to limit time to show they did it or to show there OG. If that's the case during every new battle there should 50 extra bonus levels in the BP for buying it that season.(100 levels in a regular BP)
      It would be unfair to the players who were playing that season but didn't have money to buy the BP.(I say just make the BP free to everyone thats played more then like 5 hours that season or something) Or there should be multiple skins/cosmetics that everyone can get from playing the game not in the BP. To get these skins/cosmetics you should have to complete challenges. You can choose 1 of the 3 different challenges to unlock this skins/cosmetics. Only one challenge needs to be complete to unlock it . But you if complete all three of these challenges you get a bonus reward or something. Now I know everything I said is unrealistic but let a man dream😂😂🥲

    Do you know when your game will release and if so will it release on console?

    • @jonei
      @jonei  Год назад +1

      To be honest with you I have no idea when it will release. I'm still learning quite a bit and what's planned is that there will be 3 iterations of the game. First is the co- op game, which is to help us get a good grasp on the process and develop systems for future use, likely that will be on steam only at first, however I would like to get it to console as well at some point. Then the second will be the multiplayer side of things which I plan to have release on PC as well as console. Then The last iteration is a surprise lol, but the one I'm most excited for.
      It's going to be a while though. I want these to be finished before releasing and still have a lot to learn with little budget. But if I had to give you an estimate, the first will probably be 1-2.5 years from now. If it's successful the second will probably not take nearly as long since a lot of things will be put in place. So 3-4 years for both to come out.
      I wish I could get things to you faster :(

      100% lol. I'm sure it'll be hard depending on some circumstances though of course. Like if a publisher were to get involved and those sort of things. But I think it's really important to stick to the path of rewarding people for playing, not for paying.

    Everybody who plays it hates destiny 2 but everyone will buy the next season and dlc

    • @jonei
      @jonei  Год назад +2

      I have to admit I do think destiny is a step down in regards to reward compared something like WOW. But it is miles ahead of any other FPS game that's for sure, and that's likely why people keep coming back. Personally I fell out of destiny due to the lack change in pvp, or at least meaningful competitive change but that is also a whole other ball game. Destiny would 100% be my main game is it wasn't for that due to the reward system and ample amount of things to do compared to something like apex lol

    The "trick" I use to avoid FOMO about the Battle pass, is I only buy it if/once I have fully completed it. That way I never lose any money, but I also do not have to force myself to finish it.
    The only drawback is it takes longer to complete it that way because you don't get any of the XP bonuses.

    Some people make first person shooters to avoid animating but enemies are animated so so skipping Animation Development is basically impossible but first person shooter are definitely very satisfying and are better with scopes where third person is usually a more Rambo hip Fire Game.
