I think I’ve FINALLY done it! I’ve been trying to perfect this song/track for over 4 years now. This is my favorite musical theatre song of all time and it is finally at a place that I feel I can’t do any better with it. I hope you all enjoy (I know this is a bit of a repost, but who cares!) Thank you all for your love and support. I hope you’re all healthy and happy!❤️💙🎉

Brent Carver will be missed terribly.
It is also thanks to him if Parade is such a powerful musical, both politically and emotively.
And Ethan, you did justice in a wonderful way.

Something I’ve always found interesting about the piano arrangement vs the orchestration of this song is the sustained notes that play over the chorus. I personally experience the chorus in a different way when the sustained note is strings than when it’s the piano.
When it’s strings, the steady quarter/eighth notes (which seem to be a variation on Leo’s theme of steady quarter notes) seem to support the string part and come across as almost secondary.
When it’s held in the piano I barely notice it and only pay attention to the quarter/eighth notes theme.
I’m also just referring to the Broadway orchestrations as I’m not as familiar with the Donmar version.

@@bengold7942 This is a really great observation - the orchestration is certainly nice and busy (in a good way!) and so those strings really pop. In the solo piano arrangement, those sustained notes over the chorus are some of my favorite parts to listen for. But a b&%$# to play! Hahaha
