Wallace Shawn, Gina Gershon explain why they’re still working with Woody Allen amid sex abuse allega

- The film "Rifkin's Festival" stars Wallace Shawn as a retired film studies professor who accompanies his publicist wife, played by Gina Gershon to the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain.
The film is not without its controversy as it’s being written and directed by Woody Allen who was accused by his adoptive daughter, Dylan Farrow, of a sexual assault when she was younger. Woody Allen called the accusations "preposterous.”
WGN’s Dean Richards spoke to both of the actors.
I think it is rude to ask the actor and actress about somebody else's family business. How do you expect they are going to answer.
Thank you Wallace and Gina for your courage in standing up against the liars Dylan and Mia and all who cower at their feet! Maybe next time they'll be able to discuss the movie, which was the reason they came on the show
I don't think they are liers...the Yale team of experts felt is was a false memory brought about by a hysterical mother who interrogated her daughter for 2 days. the NY social services investigation concluded the same...as did the two separate agencies who reviewed the case when he adopted two daughters later in life.
@@jamesknight3097 while I think you are most likely correct about the child having a false memory, so therefore it may not be appropriate to call her a liar, I have trouble doing the same for Mia. She seems dishonest and manipulative.
@@Lcacique I think that is a very real possibility. she likely considered the false memory thing and kept the attack up because of her rage over sunyi and being in a nasty custody battle.
I also think it's possible that she intentionally brainwashed Dylan...buy less likely
Well to me a false memory is the same as a lie, but that's just me,
FACT Woody Allen propositioned a minor, Muriel Hemingway. Take a VOTE your consensus is not the majority! So the police that would have pursued charges against woody, but didn’t for Dylan’s sake being so young, he was lying too? Power breeds corruption until you are in a victims shoes you have no right outside of either neutral or SUPPORT. Monsters can make good art but it’s still a monster. Manhattan story was about obsession of a minor! To say Mia or Dylan are lying, you CAN do better. You weren’t there YOU know nothing & neither was I. I HOWEVER am a survivor of incest so you shouldn’t be so quick to say they’re lying, but then who cares what you or other doubters say or feel. THOSE that survived WE KNOW that’s enough!! X
Rifkin's Festival - Terrific film by the 86 year old Woody Allen.
You'd have to understand the Fellini, Bergman, Godard, Truffaut and Bunuel references to truly appreciate it.
The cinematography was amazing. Needs a wider release.
Unfortunately the film is not going to get one. The court of public opinion must be appeased.

Knowing those films helps, but it doesn’t make the film ‘better’. Unfortunately there’s a couple of scenes that really derail and separate the audience from the characters and it falls flat overall.
The film is ok. But compared to most other movies it’s more interesting

I love Gina Gershon and Wallace Shawn. I don’t like seeing how uncomfortable they are with answering this question. They could’ve just said some thing like no charges were brought and no one’s been convicted of any crime.
No charges were brought against my family members. My God, no telling how many people "they" assaulted.
Or better yet: “I’ve done research and determined he’s not guilty. End of story.”
You need to shut these reporters down immediately otherwise they’ll persist in their ridiculous interrogation.

Why can’t an established news outlet set up a communication system for their guests that doesn’t have a 10 second delay?

I think both these people are sick for overlooking the facts of the case… there’s a phone call just released and clearly woody Allen was guilty by the way he sounded after being confronted via phone… Woody Allen has always been a sexually strange man and tbh it’s very obvious he’s guilty

The fact that anyone would defend Woody Allen is insane. You may not believe Dylan but the fact that the man married someone he knew from the time she was 10 years old, is fucking weird. Adopted or not. He also continuously used to cast younger women in his movies. And for some strange reason people think it’s far-fetched he would molest one daughter when he very clearly groomed another. There’s nothing and I mean nothing normal about marrying a child you watched growing up. And anyone defending that is insane. I wonder how it would feel to you if you watched your best friend marry your daughter. Let’s see how many of you would be on board with that. Someone of you let celebrities get away with way too much.
Now what do you say when you find out he did not meet her at 10 and did not watch her grow up and avoided all the Previn kids until Ronan was born and then still avoided the Previn kids as much as possible after that. Don't believe me? Believe Mia Farrow then who wrote just that in her autobiography. Believe the courts when they stated Woody had nothing to do with Soon Yi until she was 20 years old.
@@rl12345 There are literal photographs that show that Woody Allen knew her as a child. Actual photographic evidence. But in the interest of proving your point, please share the excerpt where Mia Farrows says what you’ve stated above. I’ll wait.

I hope when it is finally revealed how Mia Farrow ruined her daughter and invented this whole thing that Dean and others will publicly admit their complicity in the blacklisting of Mr. Allen

If I had 5 mins with them I would have stuck to the new movie as he's been investigated and cleared of all charges.
Both CT and NY child social service agencies exonerated Woody Allen of Mia and Dylan Farrow's charges. However implanted false memories are a proven thing. And 2 things can be true: the person making the allegation believes it. And that it never happened. Both things can be true. And I believe in this case they are. It is a tragedy for all involved. But to cancel a person who has been exonerated by 2 govt agencies is not ok. Even though I do not find him a great person. He usually does make pretty good movies.
Gina is beautiful and a great actress.
The interesting thing about Rifkin's Fest is that as much as I like Wallace Shawn, I wonder how it would have played with a younger lead. Wally and Gina as a couple is almost too fantastical. And the older guy and younger woman and man triangle is kind of shopworn. But I am about halfway thru it and enjoying it. An older woman and a younger man facing the same problem in the movie is still kind of interesting too.
What a terrible interviewer.. HOW many times are they go over this. It's like they "break" this 30 plus year old story EVERY year like it's totally new. The events were investigated by the police and CPS and found no credible evidence to support the allegations.. move on..

Dean did his job. If anything was cringe, it was their answers to an even more cringe subject matter. (which was perfectly relevant.)
I don’t know if they didn’t think the question would come up or they didn’t feel like they would have to answer it. Either way their responses are not great. Wallace did a better job than Gershon. I love them both so I was bummed for this. They need better agents to prep them. I doubt he’s going to be the only person to ask this question.
Both answers were fine. They know he's innocent and like working with him. What more is there to say? You go out to promote movie and get asked a 20 year old question? He may as well ask them their position on the war in Vietnam.

What's relevant about a closed 29 year old case. Dean was highly unprofessional. The interview topic and purpose was the limited release movie. What did you learn about the movie? Dean also did this to Mel Gibson.

Well I stumbled onto this by mistake, but I have to say. I've watched many a woody allen movie (mainly because my mother did) and I don't see the "genius" at all. I never liked a single one. Don't care at all what personal family issues he has either. As she said, none of anyone's business. Agh, actors are all so full of themselves. Frankly ever since some of my very favorite celebs showed their true colors with some really nasty comments about Trump, I won't ever pay real money for a movie ticket again. (And why does Gina keep making a fish face? 5:02 What's up with that? Did she suck a lemon or something? lol.)
