A quick look at the rather unknown official Sony PlayStation 1 Trinitron TV from 1998, the KV-21SP1. A Japanese exclusive TV advertised as the "counterpart" television for the Sony PlayStation. This TV does not feature an internal PlayStation console, but supports RGB through a PS1 style multi-in/out on the front. I'll do a proper better quality video on this interesting piece of PlayStation history in the future!
Any noise, flicker or lines seen on the TV is a result of filming it on a phone.

There’s just something so special about the PlayStation ones graphics. I don’t know why I love the look of it so much but then mesmerize me

Much respect! I have still my Sony Trinitron 21 but unfortunately it's geometry is out of alignment and I can't seem to access the service menu to get it back in line. Very frustrating. Have since bought a Retrotink so I can game now on my Samsung 19 LCD. Much recommended product.

This is cool, there's a 3D TV for PS3 too but it's kind of expensive nowdays
There’s the PS2 Bravia too, some cool displays out there! I noticed the auction prices for this CRT TV have shot up recently.

I just borrowed one of these from the game company that I work at in Japan (none will be the wiser since we are all remote working now). I think I've seen the RGB cable for this thing a total of once in the 10 years I've lived here.
You can use a VMC-AVM250 cable (which is the PS1 multi out at both ends). I borrowed the same type of cable from a PS2 arcade board I had but there should be a few floating about in Japan as it seems quite a few Trinitrons over there had this port for RGB!

@@RyanUkAus In the meantime I tried running the signal from two RGB/Component cables into each other via female-to-female adapters, but got horizontal rolling so it's missing some sort of sync. Nuts.
@@CorporalDanLives Were you running a 50Hz game or system when you tried it? 21pin RGB has a composite in and out so they might not be pairing in the joiner. I did notice this TV didn't do 50Hz for me though!
@@RyanUkAus this is a 60 hz machine, set to RGB in the settings. It's probably missing the composite like you said!

It’ll be interesting to see how you get RGB out of the tv, I could only see composite and s video inputs?
On the front there is a PS1 style A/V Multi port same as the PS1 A/V Multi Out, there's a special cable that connects the PS1 to this TV (and other certain trinitrons) through this port with RGB and audio

Could you plug in a Playstation scart cable into the Multiout port on the TV and use a scart female to female to create an rgb scart input for the TV?
I tried this a while ago and it worked, I got scrolling but didn’t realise at the time this TV would only work with 60Hz (was using a PAL game at the time). I imagine that should work fine if I tried again!

My PS1 (SCPH-5001) is not outputting S-Video to my Sony Trinitron 36" (can't remember the model off hand).

Could you use a PlayStation Scart cable and a coupler to connect other consoles through the RGB port or does it only work with the PS?
That should work fine, I tried this with a PS1 SCART cable and it worked

Hello, this Sony Trinitron KV-21SP1 looks fantastic in gray colour, same as PlayStation 1. I too like that circle speakers. It is good that TV have AV ports in back and in front. It is good for someone who have more consoles like I have.

On local site there is for sale SONY Trinitron KV-X2971K with screen size 72cm (29"inch) for 10€ (approximately 10$). What do you think about that TV?
Hey! This TV was only released for the Japanese market, it was advertised as a matching PS1 TV and some boxed PlayStation consoles had leaflets promoting this TV to be partnered up with the console. It’s a 21 inch screen, you’ll likely only find it on domestic Japanese websites, I imported mine from japan. As it was around 32kg postage doesn’t come too cheap!

@@adamsayed6275 I paid about $50aud for the television itself and $350aud + in shipping but that was a few years ago. The last few I saw had started to sell for a bit more!

Will do, as they're a Japan exclusive you can check the Japanese auctions out to see if any are available over there but the shipping can be a killer. I believe this was about 32kg once packaged!

In this video I do, I’ve since got a PS2 arcade board rgb cable that works with it. Will do an update eventually!
