Excellent video. One addition once you completed all these steps and parts have dried out: you can store everything assembled in the freezer - nothing will start growing inside
I heard a tip the other day that when it's mostly dry then freeze it. Kills any remaining pockets of algea and bacteria that may linger. Good video, thanks
This was super helpful! I was nervous to take apart the mouth piece/did not know you could... and got some pretty good mold. Now to cleaning. Thank you!
Very helpful. Thank you. I used a hairdryer for five seconds on the tube that connects to the base of the bladder that you are concerned about pulling. The heat loosened it enough for me to be able to take out the second tube that is attached to the base.
Hot water from the tap also helps to expand the tube just enough to pull the parts out. Once you've pulled the tube out once, it's easy to disconnect and reconnect in the future.
Hello, you should remove the bottom of tube too once in awhile. It easily comes off if you use a hair dryer on hot, just 20 seconds of heat, then take a small brush and scrub there. You will be surprised what you will find there.
On that part, I was wondering how to get the tube removed from the bag. So you’re saying to heat it up a bit to take off and then after cleaning, does the tube go back on easily?
Badass! Thank you! I definitely didn't know those tube pieces came off, I damn near broke the blue loops trying to swap the tube over the other loop haha
I've just bought a 2L bladder after throwing away my original 3L CamelBak bladder because I couldn't get the mold out of it. Thank you for the informative video.
Hi, I appreciate this video as I have the same osprey bladder bag. Is there also a video that shows the reassembly, especially of the mouth piece? I am struggling to get the mouth piece back together... MOstly with the clear plastic piece to the gray plastic piece. Please help!!!
The third step I'm not able to pull that nozzle out , it's very tight! Any suggestions ? I don't want to use a plier and possibly damage it or the tube
How do you remove the plastic taste ? I purchased it 3 days ago, fill and empty it 3 times with water. But today was impossible to use it because of plastic taste ..
Hey Andee, yeah, mine has done the same. Not sure exactly what causes it, but it should be ok as long as youve been consistently drying it out completely after each use to ensure nothing is growing in there.
The gray piece that twists in is not designed to come off. For a kinder solution, I turned the pack fully upside down, squeezed the drinking valve a few times and let all the water flow out gradually.
Martin Kohajda Hi, I did personally experience a slight plastic taste/odour but it did fade away after a couple of uses. Tho I think Osprey said in a video on RUclips to put lemon juice, here’s the link ruclips.net/video/j8pZruB9-MA/видео.html
Hey Martin, the plastic smell will reduce over time, but if you'd like to get rid of it immediately, I've heard of others using either mouthwash or lemon juice to clean it out.
@@yonatrek4668 My 1.5 l version arrived today and the plastic taste was pretty intense. Therefore I put some lemon juice in and put it in the freezer, as it was shown in an Osprey video. Thanks for your cleaning instructions, looking forward to upcoming uploads, @Yona Trek !
I worry about BPA leeching into water and ingesting. I've had issues with the terrible taste. Used it twice. Nice capacity but is too much work to maintain. Thanks for the video..I will use it to clean mine. Plastics are carcinogenic 🤪 I've read that the shitty plastic taste goes away after putting lemons in the bladder and freezing etc. Have you had to do this at all?
Hi, thanks for writing. I've been using this bladder every day this past month and recently started cleaning it with lemon juice once a week before drying it out, not so much for the taste though. The plastic taste does diminish over time, but remains present to some degree.
Excellent video. One addition once you completed all these steps and parts have dried out: you can store everything assembled in the freezer - nothing will start growing inside
Putting the closure grey plastic ro keep the bladder open is genius! Thanks!
Sure thing brother, thanks for the positive feedback :)

thank you so much! I had no idea all those pieces came apart! I wish osprey had better explanations for this.

Would it not deform/melt the plastic or leach chemicals?
@@murph_mustela I wouldn't worry. All parts are dishwasher safe, so even the hottest water from the tap should be okay.
Thanks for the vid :) cleared some stuff up for me :) just an easy way of cleaning it instead of freezer and special expensive tabs!
Everything I needed to know as a total rookie
Just got back from a hike. Very helpful - thanks!

Do you pull the tube off the plastic thing or do you pull it out with the gray part attached?
Very helpful, just what I was looking for

Lol I really had a good laugh brilliant video thanks for this just what I need.
Thanks man. Really appreciate this video! Cheers
Very useful!
Thorough video on disassembling and cleaning! Thank you
My pleasure! Thanks Lynda for the positive feedback :)
Thanks for the video! Got me thinking, could you connect an air mattress pump to it and just maybe run it until dry?
How would that work? I wanna try it
Or an air compressor used lightly
Very very helpful. Thank you
Thank you! Was trying to figure out the bite valve
Great video bro..thanks alot...I bern drying the bladder out but i havent been disassemblilng my hoses and mouthpiece.
Very comprehensive and excellent explanation, best I’ve seen, many good tips which I’ll certainly use, thanks for sharing 😃👍
Thanks for your tutorial I think the bottom tube should be removed organics would build up eventually, otherwise good technique through out.
Great tutorial vid, thank you!
5 stars for being so adorable! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 😇

This helped a lot thank you! One of my pets bit into the bite valve and I had to buy a new one so this was very helpful!
Thank you so much!
This was the video I needed! Thank you so much!
Great video!! Just upgraded my pack to an Osprey Aether and this was concise with no bullshit. Liked and subbed buddy, keep up the good work!
Awesome video. Thank you!
Thanks man that was very helpful. Thanks
Nice video! Thanks Question, my red bite piece on the end of the hose through use has developed holes. Can this piece be replaced
Thank you so much ! :)
Thnx
Thanks you for explication
Awesome!

ugh i can't get one part off
Great video, thanks mate
Hey David, thanks for the positive feedback!
Gr8 - thanks.
Thank you,
Is just sticking the Grey lock in there enough to keep the two sides from touching each other? I've seen people do things with clothes hangars.
Thanks man
THANKS!
Damn helpful!!!!! Thx a lot
My pleasure! Thanks for the positive feedback :)
Merci beaucoup, j'ai réussi à ouvrir
My 2.5 lt version didn’t come with the quick disconnect and it’s frustrating
You need to purchase the Osprey Quick Connect Kit separately.
Thanks for sharing, how do you store it between uses?
How do you remove the plastic taste ? I purchased it 3 days ago, fill and empty it 3 times with water. But today was impossible to use it because of plastic taste ..
Thanks for the video!! How do you storage it at home?🤔
Hi Yona, Thanks for the very helpful video! When will you replace yours for a new one? Mine is 3 years old, water tastes a little yukkie...
Which do you prefer, this or the Platypus Big Zip Evo? The Platypus looks like it has a wider opening for cleaning?
Great video! My bag/tubing has turned yellow. What do you think that was from and is it still safe to use? TIA
Hey Andee, yeah, mine has done the same. Not sure exactly what causes it, but it should be ok as long as youve been consistently drying it out completely after each use to ensure nothing is growing in there.
Plastic tends to turn yellow from UV exposure. That’s probably what it is.
My tube is partially yellow, where can I buy a replacement tube

I don’t have that quick disconnect on the hose. Not very helpful
Mate im not gonna lie , this video autoplayed after another video and i thought you sounded like Kermit the frog . Good video though 😀
Hi!
Great video!
For clearing out the tubes, before shaking them i find it helps blowing in them to get as much water out
Hi Juliette, good call! Thanks for the tip :)
Hi. I bought a new one and I smell a plastic odor from the water. Did you have the same experience? What did you do?

@@yonatrek4668 i have terrible plastic tasting. Any solution?
Is it ok to expose it to the sun? Nothing will happen with this plastic?
It's fine as far as I'm aware. It's a pretty soft plastic, so I'm not really worried about it drying out and cracking.
I won't do that. The sun is very powerful it can degrade plastic.
what a bunch of shit to go through
Jeeezus its easier to just buy a new one
