The The FW-187 - the almost forgotten hunter is one of the scale 1/12 fly2air.com designs. A really comfortable rc-model: very precise with a wide speed range and fascinating sight. The original FW-187 already had a top speed of 735 km/h on its first test flights back in 1937 - over 100 km/h faster than the P51 Mustang, which was first flown in 1942, five years later.

CORRECTION: At 4:30 you list top speed as 735 km/h - no, it was 525 km/h with Jumo 210 G, but prototype V6 got the intended Daimler Benz motors DB 600A and reached 635 km/h.

Yep, you're rigth. According to the book mentioned in the video pg. 71, the 735 km/h has been the speed during a (stung)testflight of Sander when the planes' tail began to shake awfully and suddenly with a bang all vibrations stopped. Unfortunately its difficullt to correct the video content without loosing the complete history/comments.

This should have been the opposite to the GB Westland Whirlwind, or the far better D.H. Hornet's, but it does look so right.

... even more: the He-100 V8 got the world speed record of 746 km/h at about the same time (20.03.1939).
Its incredible, what they engieered in these early days. Both, Kurt Tank as well as Ernst Heinkel were probably some of the most gifted aircraft engineers? Heinkel also has had the He-176 V1 in the air (maiden 20.06.1939, top speed 750 km/h) or the He-178 (maiden 27.08.1939, ref. "Heinkel Chronik ..., ISBN 3-925595-08-3). Followed by the He-280 with two jet engines, maiden flight at 22.04.1941 (top speed 900 km/h). If you look to the side view and wing, the He-280 looks very, very close to the later Me-262 and you can read, that Heinkel has been asked to assist Messerschmitt in designing the Me-262. Although the Me-262 has hat take-off problems due to missing vortex at the horizontal stabilizer - the He-280 used a different HS with two fins by not having these problems...
