there aren't enough people commenting on what a fucking great lyricist Brandon Flowers is, can't think of many people who can describe a whole love story from the moment they met to the day she dies in less then 5 minutes... he does it so cleverly too, I had heard this song before when I got his album but only now I'm paying attention to the lyrics and it has me in tears. I heard this is about his dad, can anyone confirm that?

i love when his songs are about a man's whole life, which wasn't so special, but if he looks back, he's just smiling, and can remember so many happy moments..

this was one of my two or three early favorites from Flamingo. it sucked me in and got me going, and then the slow verse where Jackie passes away just punched me in the gut. I still get goosebumps every time I listen to it. weee!
This song always gets me a little choked up. It's so personal for Brandon, if I were him I definitely wouldn't be able to sing that last part without crying.

It's about his mom who died on February 11, 2010. What's really weird is that my grandma died on the exact same day of the exact same thing. It's a bitter sweet song for me. I saw him live in Royal Oak last November and he did this and it was unreal.

Absolutely! My husband, who is 81, heard me playing this yesterday, & he was dancing to it! We both saw Brandon peform with The Killers twice in Tampa, Florida & then we saw him singing his solo CD in Kansas when we went there to visit family for Thanksgiving in 2010. I paid for my husband's daughter and grand daughter to come with us to see Brandon's solo performance too. I am looking forward to their new CD coming out this year. So you're from the UK? So am I.
