Global migration crisis: What solutions do politicians have? | To The point

- They are desperate. They have little choice. They are escaping from war, persecution, and even the effects of climate change. In search of a better life, they are taking up dangerous journeys. Their hope is to find a more promising future...
However, this hope often leads to crowded refugee camps, as we've recently seen in Lampedusa, where an increasing number of refugees endure harsh and inhumane conditions. A similar situation unfolds at the US-Mexico border, where many face the grim reality of not being recognized as asylum-seekers. The host countries appear overwhelmed and are increasingly showing a harder stance in their approach. Even the most expensive deals are not able to stop the tide of illegal immigration.
So, on ‘To The Point’ we are asking: Global migration crisis: What solutions do politicians have?

The solution is simple
START SENDING THEM BACK‼️
Tell Europe to leave Africa and African resources alone. Europe is built on genocides and looting of African resources. Today France refuses to leave Africa even after bieng kicked out, it's still trying to loot African resources, because without African resources, it's economy can shrink to a 3rd world economy.
Lots of countries of origin don't want them back.
It is not a solution, because millions have already arrived in Europe, and hundreds of thousands are on their way
Send to Ukraine…
@@paulcock8929Put them down. 💀nobody wants them.
They should be sent back, the boats confiscated and the smugglers prosecuted as this will only lead to further chaos and a disregard for international borders. People should be able to apply for asylum from their country of origin if necessary.

The shift that made illegal mass migration acceptable needs to change.
The idea that Europe, and North America needs to be a catch all at the detriment of it’s citizens is totally absurd. The growing resentment and anger over unaffordable housing, food etc will only grow and rightly so.
@allanblack "The shift that made illegal mass migration acceptable needs to ..." Why "rightly so" ? The questions posed by the host are simply touching the surface and not probing but rather eliciting a circulatory response.
Traffickers exist only because there are people willing to pay for the opportunity for a better life either for themselves or for their children.
Sure! It is capitalism at its worst not one that plays out from your moral playbook of privilege and standards. The low-level traffickers also do it to benefit their families and rise above poverty in their own lives.
The heart of the problem lies in the simple fact that the people fleeing their countries are cynical of their own governments. The ruling elitist in their countries has failed their citizens to provide better opportunities. Corruption and the decaying of public trust in their own institutions is part of the cynicism within civic society. The worst is when Western interests (companies and governments) coincide with the ruling elite in those countries to profit on the backs of the larger civil society. The so-called democratically elected officials pose as false guardians and bastions of democratic rights. Just look around Africa and its glaringly obvious.
The solution lies partly in imposing a higher tax on goods and mined earth elements from countries and companies that profit from foreign investments.
Secondly taxing the individual country where the citizens are fleeing from. Either through aid rationing or per-person exodus tax.
Sanctioning their leaders for not doing enough for their own citizens.

Plus developed countries in general throw away a perfectly good phone after a year or 2, where do you think they end up?
Will also add that solar panels have become incredibly cheap. As low as 1$ per watt, probably more power in Africa.
@@notfunny3397 not at all! And not in this country they aren’t 😉
Sink a few of those boats and it will stop.
The asylum rights needs to be updated and limited. It was made for poeple like Assange but not for economic migratens

Everyone is acutely aware that a time will inevitably arrive when Europe simply cannot, beyond any shadow of a doubt, accommodate any more individuals. There's an instinctive understanding that there exists a natural threshold.
Now, as this is undeniable, it's clear that merely waiting for it to occur will lead to profoundly distressing outcomes, far graver than mere pushbacks. This situation will eventually escalate to involve national militaries employing force indiscriminately, with their single-minded focus on preventing further influx at all costs.
Within each nation, movements bearing a striking resemblance to traditional fascism will undoubtedly emerge. There's absolute certainty in this. When the will of the populace is continuously overlooked, their susceptibility to extreme ideologies increases exponentially. And here, 'extreme' refers to a genuinely radical extent, not the current, comparatively moderate interpretation of the term.
In light of this, wouldn't it be more prudent to adopt a decidedly firm stance against unchecked immigration now, rather than waiting until immigration has irreparably compromised each nation's systems to the point of collapse?
Certainly, something to ponder.
Less talking about the problem & more action.
Do you happen to have a solution?
I'm from UK 🇬🇧 please send 🙏 more of those people to London we have plenty of accommodations.
Please stop using the word "populism" as if the democratic will of majorities is a bad idea. The problem is that democracies are failing. Majorities are no longer able to express their political will in any area of policy; housing, healthcare, education, climate change, defence ...... Immigration is not the totality of politics but the electorates have a right to express their views on that, too.
It's not possible, this is a big break from Italy, they have to return to their land of origin, it's not possible, there's talk of global economic problems, even Italy has serious economic problems,
Since countries of origin don't want to take back failed asylum applicants , the destination countries could consider the option of an artificial island having a special status in international law as a camp for failed asylum seekers. Another option would be to create a new state similar to the way the US created Liberia for ex-slaves. I'm not necessarily recommending either of these options which sound quite dystopian. However, as stated in the program the current situation is not working.
The irony being Turks don’t want the Arabs blaming them for serious crimes.
We are screwed big time do not worry about war it's hungry and desperate people that will dilute that problem.
We need strict rules full stop, stop,stop...
What ever reason for moving from one country if it’s illegal it is akways illegal
Get rid of social media !!
I hear a lot of people talking, but no one really going to back up a solution. I think unfortunately no one or no country will agree on a solution. Hopefully I’m wrong. They really got to put teeth in a solution to work but I’m thinking they’re too weak or too afraid to do that
"If there cannot be a humane way, are we still Europeans?" *awkward silence*. There, silence spoke more than words after that idiotic question-answer.
Stop liberalism!
you gotta have more strict rules so these illegals won't try again and again, you gotta make it not worth it.
Make their home countries livable and free w decent non criminal non dictatorship non corruption
In many countries most of them are politicans or political parties involved in human trafficking to make money. countries like Eretrea, ethiopia, gambia, kenya, etc etc and same in Middle east and Asia, In pakistan govt and opposition politicians are involved, Bangladesh same In sri lanka political party called JVP is very active, said to be have luxury offices to recurit them in colombo to sending them to EU via eastern europe etc. and dont forget people have to pay them before and after arrival. And they collect money from them illegaly transfer back to their countries. Even leaders of those parties visits EU and collect money. EU totally failed to secure its boarders and citizens. why they sitting there in EU and enjoy tax payers hard earned money???
*LOL. Karolina, if Europe was really humane society, they would not have been the colonizers and the initiators of various wars, including WW-I and WW-II. Europe has never been a humane society.*
WWI and WWII were both started by non-European powers (Britain and America).
SATURATE EUROPE 😢 with People from Africa will Loose the Appeal of European Culture to Tourists
Poverty and political instability is the majority of the planet.
