  • The rarest catch of the trip happened on Monday afternoon, an aging DC-6 takes off from runway 33 at Anchorage. This old bird only goes up on Mondays and is a site to see!

So very cool. I remember when these flew over the house all the time when in passenger service. And the DC 4s & Constellations too. Miss hearing the big radials. My uncle used to fly DC6s with American way back when. Them & Delta had the coolest liveries. Thanks for posting.

The Navy called them the C-118 Liftmaster. I flew on them several times between Minneapolis and Chicago as a Navy Reservist. It took several hours between those cities. Eventually, the Navy replaced them with C-9's (DC-9) which reduced the flight time significantly. And more comfort.
