I swear to God! This place looks like they all just went out to lunch. someone is working hard to preserve this as a time capsule instead of an abandoned location. it's nice to see how it would have looked when it was occupied. I hope they can keep it safe.
Lionel here in Central California. First off, nice video. Wood stove, not furnace, lol. The stuff in the first cabin isn’t left behind. It’s there for people to stay and help out if they forgot some supplies. Books and games to pass the time. The tools are there for the same reason. Just saying…
They keep cabin stocked for anyone who. Needs a pkace to spend the night, sudden storms, snow whatever. Just leave it in good condition and leave something useful for some one else.
Haha, that's a good one! It's a volunteer camp on forest service land. Put simple, it's an abandoned mining camp that has been maintained by volunteers wanting to preserve history.
First one Its all modern in seasonal use with them having modern "nice"hotel chain names as a tongue in cheek joke tells a finder that it is a outdoorsy persons retreat.
I've been kind wondering when you were going to get around to this one. We used to go up there a lot in the 80s and 90s. I spent a lot of time in that valley hang gliding. Finally moved there for some time.
I had this one on my bucket list for a long time. I'm glad I finally got to explore the area. It sounds like you have some incredible memories from your time hang-gliding in that valley and living there. I've always wanted to live in that part of California; there's so much to do and see.
@@DaveExploresYT I've been seeing it since the early 80s, and I'm still seeing it and there is still a lot more for me to see. Thanks for the tour. Glad to see it in good shape. Last time I was there all the water worked.
Good day everyone. I know this may sound like a silly question, but here it goes. I’m just wondering how all the furniture items (like metal beds, for example), and other large objects were brought to this site? Were those things brought in by vehicle, or carried in up the trail? Is there road access into that place. I was just curious, folks.
Lionel here in central California. I would speculate that beasts of burden were used to pack in supplies and materials. I sure that smaller items packed in by people.
things arent left there left on purpose for the next person to visit so other people do there part and leave things to keep it going people just need to respect for future people to enjoy as well
That's a once in a lifetime find. People actually trying to preserve it. It's always the 1or 2 have to ruin it for everyone else. I could live there. Thanks 👍
Great explore Dave like you say there must a another trail better then the one you took by boulders .The trails by cabins looked well used thank you for this explore and looking forward to part 2 Nice research ⛏️
My wife and I really enjoyed this video! We were surprised that there was only one outhouse for such a large complex. I guess that's what you call roughing it!
Silly me, I do not want this place vandalized but where is it. it would be a great place make an improvement and depressurize. Make it a little better for the next visitor, and leave some bottles water behind, along with a pack of ramens.
Thank you for taking the time to explore this camp fascinating!!!! This could not be boring .great explore,so well maintained and thank you to the volunteers that keep this place so lovely
Somebody is still using that first building - the food isn't spoiled and the room is far to neat to be "abandoned". You better be careful just walking into these building or somebody is going to shoot you.
Been up here plenty of times, and it has always been well maintained. It's up in the white mountains and that's about all I have to say. The primary reason it is still so well kept is: 1.) it's above 7k and the druggies, dregs, and other no gooders just aren't in good enough shape to drag spraypaint, garbage, and wreckless behavior up with them. 2.) caring, smart people don't go around chest pounding and bragging about a 'Way cool camp" they found. Be respectful folks. Leave it as you found it for other caring folks to enjoy. If you are fit and have the room. Pack some of the trash down off the mountain with you.
That's one of the reasons I put off uploading this video for so long. Unfortunately, even if a place is kept "secret" or a location isn't revealed, people still find it and possibly destroy the area.
I saw these cabins on another RUclips channel a few years ago, they still seem to be in the same good condition. It's great that no vandals visited them 🏡😁👍
How old is this camp?Saw the newspaper in the cabin,it shows Teddy Roosevelt That newspaper looks like its from the 1800s early 1900s🧸Some of the stuff looks recent. Would be Interesting what the history is on this place

I don't think it's right that your going inside these cabins going through people's belongings. If it belonged to me and I caught you there you would have 200lbs on your face . The only time you should go in to a place is when your in a life or death situation. Then I would get a hold of the owner and make it right with them. Replacing groceries what ever.

Didn’t realise how amazing this place was. Had it pinned now for a few years. Great explore Dave. Looking forward to the next one!
I'm glad you enjoyed the explore and have it pinned. It's definitely worth a visit!
The thing you pulled open, in the cabin, that you called a 'trash bin' was most likely a potato bin or flour bin.
All I can say is your getting better ( from Australia 76 years old ) very cool mine keep it up 🐿️

Great zip-through I am sure there are many intriguing stories about this mining camp. I hope you do come again when you have more time. Great video!

Why is everyone ignoring the fact that this place belongs to someone, is clearly in use, and you just entered and dug through their stuff.
