      Hello..is the more than 20 hour working policy effective on Dec 7 2023 or will still be in effect in January 2024? Im confused about this because of the other link on ircc website that says that it's effective on January 1 2024. Thanks

  • @caneast99
    @caneast99 10 месяцев назад +1

    For many students, it is "show" money. Transfers to their account to show an amount for IRCC. Afterwhich, the money is transferred back to the lender(s).
    To survive on working 20 hours per week is pretty much impossible here in Canada. Add on the 20 G (plus work) to spend and it is definately reasonable.

    @rhandyagui 11 месяцев назад +2

    The new minimum financial requirements only applies to new study permit applications received on or after Jan. 1, 2024.

    The 20k-ish POF per year is more reasonable than the previous 10k-ish. When I came here in Canada with that 10k POF, I was so frustrated coz its not actually enough. Very far from reality.

    • @studyliveexploreca
      @studyliveexploreca  11 месяцев назад

      yes, that totally true! 20K/year is reasonable

    Best advice to potential international students: don't expect studies in a western country to be easy or cheap (housing crisis since pandemic ended). Inflation. Don't listen to agents back home telling u differently while also taking your $ (with some creating fraudulent documents). Canadian students pay less in tuition because Canadians have paid Canadian taxes all their lives.
    Are u primarily wanting to migrate to a western country (for free healthcare and to gain PR or citizenship) and doing so via being a student? Most (by far) seem to be, while also lacking sufficient funds to do so. Some are hiding this fact b4 arriving then they're very desperate for $ and cheap residence once here. Its become a big problem. Lifelong residents are competing with foreigners for affordable shelter. Bcuz the international student, immigrant, refugee, and illegal migrant population has EXPLODED since 2021 with no signs of slowing so far.
    Cda is trying to fix this so its more workable. Fyi: Canada is ranked in the top ten for most safe & trustworthy country in the world. Its always a work in progress.

    Hello, what about if we are waiting for the Transcript of records and completion letter, can we still work more than 20 hrs a week or until what while waiting? Since there was also a policy that they extend the allowable work hours. Are we still covered with that?

    Hi may I ask, how about students that will apply an extension or plus one, will the 20k also apply to them? Thanks!

    • @studyliveexploreca
      @studyliveexploreca  10 месяцев назад

      Technically yes, if you apply for another Study permit, you must meet the requirements again. The advantage of 1+1 is that it gives you time to accumulate more funds for the second year. Maybe you can save a lot of your POF by living very frugal.

    I'm an international student. I agree that there is no way 10k be enough , not even enough for rent let alone for living expenses

    • @studyliveexploreca
      @studyliveexploreca  11 месяцев назад +2

      The problem is just that they didn't increase it for 10 years and now suddenly double it.
      It should be increased in small increments every year to the rising costs of living.

    Can i get clarification on this please?
    Will i have to show the proof of funds and the first year tuition all in a bank statement form or i will have to show the first year tuition with a physical or ready cash?

    • @studyliveexploreca
      @studyliveexploreca  11 месяцев назад

      You have to show it in a bank statement (or multiple).Not in physical cash. But it should be funds that are liquid and stable. Not investments.

    Hi Coach MC, the 10,635 additional POF is per year? If I will take a 2 year program then I need 41,270 for cost of living.

    • @studyliveexploreca
      @studyliveexploreca  11 месяцев назад +1

      its for the first year, so we assume if you study for two years its better to have 40k+ for cost of living. If you your budget is limited consider 1+1 for now

    • @studyliveexploreca
      @studyliveexploreca  10 месяцев назад

      Sounds like you are pretty close, this is what it says on the IRCC website:
      For 2024, a single applicant will need to show they have CAN$20,635, in addition to their first year of tuition and travel costs. This change applies to new study permit applications received, on or after January 1, 2024.
      This amount reflects updated cost-of-living requirements. Going forward, these amounts will be adjusted each year, as Statistics Canada updates the LICO.
