Fyi, not a beaver but a marmot, there's a lot of them in the Ecrins National Parc, the other carving was an ibex (bouquetin). Very interesting village. Thanks for the video.
PS: if you ever to the Ecrins in the summer, don't feed the marmots! My sister did, even though she was cautioned not to, and one of the chubby little buggers peed on her. I loved that pudgy little fur ball!!!!

Very beautiful, interesting, authentic and moving video! You are right, the 1914-1918 war was very traumatic! Both my grandfathers made it. My mom told me a lot about it! There were deaths in all the families, it was terrible! My grandfather was gassed and died after the war. The common people and the peasants were in the front line.

Thank you for watching. This obelisk monument is certainly proof of all you say.

@@adamsfamilyinfrance My other grandfather was 20 years old in 1913. He went to do his military service and then to the war, he fought first in France and then he went to the Balkans. He returned in 1919 on horseback. He was sick, but he came back alive unlike so many others. The French suffered so much during this war that they didn't want any more war and all these useless massacres . Thank you for this video !

Yes. My father (Polish) spent time in a Siberian labor camp when the Soviets and Germany invaded in WWII. He escaped and made a harrowing journey to the UK when Germany invaded Russia. He then flew fighter planes for the Polish division of the RAF for the rest of the war. I don't think he ever really recovered from his war experiences. Seeing the various "this is where he fell" plaques around France commemorating resistance fighters who were killed by the Nazis, or Jews who were sent to their deaths, as well as the many memorials to French soldiers in various wars is a sobering reminder that is less present in the U.S. Seeing the slaughter of civilians in Israel and Palestine, mostly for the political ambitions of various men in power, and the callous and often complicit response of Western leaders makes it seem that we haven't improved.

@@adamsfamilyinfrance Alas, the war of 1939 45 was even more horrible and it is still not over!
