- All canonically played by Mio Akiyama (秋山 澪) on Elizabass (エリザベス) in the full version of けいおん!!S2OP2!!
I use these for 3D music in VRC but I want to share them because the quality is so uniquely high!
This must be the most dynamic K-On song there is and it's one of my favorites! That's why I wanted to do something special to show all the tracks that are playing for one character as best as I could which I think turned out amazing! The cover art being in front of a whiteboard helped inspire that, which I made a blackboard for better contrast!
The frog mascot shows the tracks that play in every track after the first step of isolation, which means they weren't removed from any of the 'karaoke' CD tracks. I tried to remove as much of these as I could, but the FX are pretty much impossible with my method. The FX are also tricky because after the start they're confusingly quieter in Yui and Mugi's tracks and louder in others. The last guitar somehow could not be removed from any track.
Color meanings: Green = unaltered isolated track. Lime green = minor panning changes or mono render if lead guitar. Yellow = unavoidable major panning or volume changes. Red = phase cancelled out. White = not playing. Gray/Desaturated = not relevant for current track.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
No AI or other filters were used at all. It's isolated using only phase cancellation. This noise cancelling technique is applied in many layers to the special instrumental versions of this song taken from one of the K-On CD releases. In each of those instrumental tracks a different instrument has been removed by the creators, kinda like instrumental karaokes. Basically what I did is I magically inverted everything across each other in a very specific way, to make the instrument which is missing in those tracks the only one playing in mine!
You might think that it's way easier to simply put the missing instrument track over the full instrumental track. While that's true, you can't get the same quality isolation this way - at least for this song - because of major rendering differences between these tracks. Look at the tutorial I made in the playlist description for more details:
• Go! Go! MANIAC - All I...
I think the very quiet parts from the other instruments carrying over is mostly from the many small audio compression differences between the tracks, although I kinda like it like that. It feels like the sound is bleeding over from them wearing headphones, playing along to the song or something
Thanks for listening, use this as you wish!
Probably the most hearable Bassline of all of the songs from K-on
(I can hear the bass in this song clearly but find it hard on others)
I'm always rooting for you.
The interlude is too cool.
there was (or still is? haven't checked) one other bass isolated version of utauyo on youtube many years ago but this is such a nice surprise to find in 2022, much higher quality. Thanks!!!! one of my favorite k-on basslines fsss
You're welcome! I'm sure that must have been Bass + 1 other instrument, those duo instrument versions are much easier to make! In some cases their isolation can even sound cleaner, but of course you'd hear less detail with 2 instruments playing at the same time.

Heart Goes Boom! waiting room!
Can we get your discord by any chance?
Hope Mugi will bring you some tea in the waiting room because that might take a while! Sadly I can't isolate the tracks for Heart Goes Boom like I did with my other videos because it doesn't have a CD with the minus one instrument tracks. I can isolate the vocals / backing vocals but a lot of audio artifacts will remain, and there are desync problems that will take a long time to fix, if at all possible, like with other S1 songs. Might still upload what I can of the vocals eventually though!
Maybe you'll find the instrument stem tracks taken from the K-On game to be good enough, though they are shorter and arranged a bit differently: houkago-stem-time.tumblr.com/post/151244917999/heart-goes-boom-stems + Sorry but I won't give my discord, I don't have a server anyway
May i ask what type of bass Mio is playing with? Jazz Bass or Precision Bass? (Some people say that it sounds like p bass but in the anime she use j bass)
I really don't know enough about it to be able to tell you, but I assume that it's still the same jazz bass you see in the anime that played this since they were so detailed in depicting the real instruments and equipment they used. Couldn't it sound like the other type because of the way it was recorded and mixed?
Or maybe these tracks are actually canonically released in the future after they graduated and formed a real band, and Mio bought a precision elizabass for in the studio mixes!
@@PERFECTLY_Wasted_Potential Thank you for your explaination. I really appreciate it.
@@yapyeecheng9142 The guy that plays the irl bass uses a precision so everything sounds like a p-bass!
@@kuan1085 proof?
I have always thought it was a precision, here it sound more like a jazz tho
