Jeff how u doing today? Jeff I'll take Ryobi all day long. It works very good n the price is good to. While Milwaukee $190.00 has the same purpose as the Ryobi. Ryobi will do it for me. Thanks for the video. Is awesome. He take care n be safe. GOD BLESS 👍👍👍👍👍
This guy is pushing for Milwaukee and I have a lot of Milwaukee which after years I started to try Ryobi and I’m pleased with their product. Less expensive and tool is just as strong in fact I’m now purchasing Ryobi to save money. Batteries are great and less expensive as well. Red cost more due to popularity trust me I know.

At 2:00 I agree 100%! Sometimes (a lot of times) I want to use the package as a case, and they don’t even give you that option! They should make the package where you can we use it as a case, especially for like some drillbits. It will keep a lot of that stuff out of the landfills, and keep your tools last in a lot longer. Especially with things like laser pointers and laser leveler’s.
Hi I hope milwaukee can make a larger m18 model that can cut 3 inch - 5 inch pipe. I know it's going to be large but it will be nice to have one that size.
I have no idea what you are talking about regarding PEX. I have a manual PEX cutter and it is basically exactly like Ryobi but smaller and manual. Just like scissors. And it also makes a perfect cut. The only complaint I have about it, it does not automatically align the pipe perpendicular to the blade, which I believe is true for all these tools. Anyway, I have made hundreds of cuts with it and I am yet to have a single bad connection
I am baffled by the design of the ryobi other than they probably utilized some parts sharing with their lineup of drills to come in at the $100 price point.
Yea but if you're doing mains, or bathroom groups etc it would be perfect I'd imagine, I'm watching this video to see if that's the next tool for work, would like to see an HP version of this tool
Lmao! That music to those girls dancing was hilarious! Great video man! Thank you very much for making this! Now I would love to see more of the ryobi pex tools vs regular clamp tools, vs possibly the Milwaukee pex crimper... $700 vs $229! I’ve used both and the Milwaukee is definitely of better quality but for the price the ryobi works just fine! Has a couple issues and kinks that ryobi could work out but again for the price can’t be beat.
One morning I should have given him a video last night is not to use either of these tools to cut old CPVC pipes in an installation Because they will crack and shatter rather than cut the slightest bit of deforming of those pipes which any cutter will cause, makes these pipes shatter. The CPVC pipe you saw me caught last night was brand new from the store so those will cut just fine.
When I bought my milwaukee cutter I was excited but after only one week it failed only a week . I then bought the ryobi cutter well have used it for awhile it’s holding up well so I guess it’s better than the milwaukee tool .
@@jeffostroff I have lot of milwaukee tools only two have failed the cutter was one . I prefer milwaukee but I keep a open mind so have a few ryobi tools . I have there cutter pvc and the auger which surprised me how well it works .
What a cool tool! Great review! I’d love a Dewalt version since I have those batteries. The whole battery situation is the only reason I haven’t been buying any new were Ryobi tools. I actually have an entire tool room full of older blue Ryobi tools that I don’t use because all those batteries are dead. I recently purchased one of those Dewalt to Ryobi adapters for the battery, I was able to finally reuse my battery powered caulking gun.
Jeff, great video. Plumber’s tip: use a self closing tubing cutter works best for CPVC cutting. It won’t shatter like it typically does when you use a ratcheting cutter or any PVC/PEX shear tool. Disclaimer: I don’t like to install CPVC. It sure does make me me lots of money for repairs to replace it with PEX.
jeffostroff Here in Central Texas with a slab foundation we would typically charge 200 to 400 per fixture with the walls open. This includes new stops and supply lines. You really need to strap pipe in the walls and floors for a secure re-pipe. You should also use nail guards on all stud penetrations. If you are doing a reroute with no interior strapping or nail guards and just a few holes, you are looking at 600 for a single run minimum. This is just a guideline, you get the idea.
I don't have a sample of polybutylene I should have kept the one I had last year, you can't go to the stores and buy any there but it's a reasonably hard plastic so I would think that both of these tools will cut through it.
I had the milwaukee it only lasted 3 weeks before it broke down . I’m waiting for the ryobi to show up in a few days . The ryobi cuts up to two inches .
Maybe it was the angle of the camera but in every cutting shot, it definitely appeared the Ryobi cut the pipe with much less crushing of the pipe. Maybe its the design of the tool or the sharpness of the blade but if working with older CPVC or 200psi PVC, I would think the chances of damaging the pipe would be less with the Ryobi.
I would not use either of these tools to cut old C PB C because the slightest teeniest tiniest bit of deformation will cause them to shatter because they get brittle with age
Its because the Ryobi is 18v and the Milwaukee is 12v. Thats why the ryobi cuts easier, also i owned the Milwaukee and it sometimes had a hard time cutting all the way through.
@15:12 There are three things that will make the rest of my day go sour and make make me lose a good night sleep. Those are getting into a car accident, dropping your smartphone where the screen breaks and dropping your power tool from high above.
Milwaukee M12 2470-20 Cordless PVC Pipe Shear seems to have the shape that will get the cutting business into really tight places. If you're laying on your back in a really tight crawl space and want to reach a pipe with the cutting knife the Milwaukee would be a better pick of the two.
I have been remodeling homes for 30 years now. I just don't understand why EVERYONE automatically ASSUMES that Ryobi is and ever will be nothing more than a DIYer tool? I'm not loyal to any brand, and I buy what works. But there is absolutely nothing wrong with Ryobi. When it comes to some of the higher end stuff, miter saws, table saws, tile saws, planers, joiners, then yes, Ryobi just isn't quite there. But when it comes to power hand tools, Ryobi can most definitely hold its own. But wait . . . I can buy almost 3 power tools for the cost of 1 DeWalt or 1 Milwaukee. And I have never heard a customer tell me, Oh you do excellent work, but it would have been so much better had you used a DeWalt. Oh by the way, remember when Ryobi used to be blue? I still have an old Ryobi hammer drill and 7-1/4 miter saw from 10 years ago that still work great today. It's not the tool that does the work, it's the person using it.
good review. Literally walked into Home Depot the other day and I swear they told me that the Milwaukee version didn't take a standard ryobi battery. Obviously yours does. Anyway, I ended up buying a DeWalt PVC cutting attachment for a driver (compatible with Milwaukee). works great!---but costs as much as the Ryobi. The Milwaukee at my local HD is more like $229 tool only.
The design of the Milwaukee makes more sense. The pipe should always be placed on the ground for ease of cutting IMHO. It also seems safer. The Milwaukee tube/copper cutter uses the same batteries.

No, your statement is completely wrong sorry. C- PVC weakens with age it gets dry and brittle and that's why all over the Orlando area plumbers are making a fortune by re-piping houses with this brittle C PVC pipe it works fine just like regular PVC when you first install it but there's just something wrong with it that it dries up and gets brittle. I would hardly call that getting stronger with age your statement doesn't even pass the common sense test, especially since it is not backed up by any real engineering studies that we can examine.
Lost alot of credibility when you dropped that M12 on the battery. I'm on #3 for the m12 sheers. All of the Jaws on the Milwaukee took a crap. Looks like I'll have to buy a Ryobi for 1 tool.
I've ran miles and miles of 2" & 1.5" with those M12s I'm glad that an alternative has come along. First thing to do with the M12 blade is to grind off that lip on the end, eggs the pipe.
@@jeffostroff I had to buy the M12 personally. And all my tools are Milwaukee, but, we all know if that tool drops, it's jaw heavy and that's going to hit. I ran Fire sprinkler pipe using these. M12 was the only alternative to ratchet sheers. Love the M12, but when the jaws done so is the tool
All my tools are m12 no other tools I use they are compact and get the job done I’m not a big fan of this cutting tools they seem scary to me accidents only happen once it’s only a matter of time when you may chop your finger off
Many of the plumbers today are using packs they seem to love it and new construction I hope it does not turn out to be another polybutylene or another CPVC fiasco.

From my perspective, it seemed the Ryobi deformed the pipe less, and may cut ever-so slightly better because of the blade angle.

I like the Milwaukee better the way its design
I like both, but both are awkward in the way you trigger it with that safety mechanism
Remember to rock the tool as you cut. Especially if it's cold
I like to keep it still and let the blade do the work
When it's warm I do too. However, when it's cold, the pipe isn't as flexible as in the video. I've had it shatter
You definitely should rotate the cutter while using it, especially if cutting old thin wall pipe, or it very likely will shatter, hot or cold.
