Otherwise godly king Hezekiah made a mistake based on pride when he welcomed the Babylonians into his kingdom and displayed all his wealth before them. One hundred years later, Babylon, the then dominant world power, would ransack Jerusalem and take Hezekiah's treasures for their own. May we heed the reminder: "Pride goes before destruction...."
