After last weeks poll the clear winner for this weeks anime openings reaction was Durarara! This one was really interesting since even with 5 openings we couldn't exactly figure much out about the show, all we know is that there's one dude with shades obsessed with throwing poles or anything bigger at other people.

“Trying to figure out who the MC might be” to be honest, there are so many characters you could argue are the MC
The City is the MC/Protagonist
Ehh kinda, there are a handful that get the most screen time and could be argued are the main characters but it’s really more that the location/city itself is the main character
I mean, the three are the main characters, right?
@@keginayers9497 You could argue the city is the MC, Celty is the MC, Shinra is the MC, even Shizuo and Izaya could have good cases made for them. Yeah, the group of three is who we are introduced to first, but they aren’t exactly the center of everything.

The big appeal of the story is how theres A LOT of shit going on. Narita, the author, is known for this stuff. He takes a setting, adds a shitload of plotlines and has them happen at the same time and interact with one another from time to time.
If you noticed, you have the three kids, and each one has their own thing going on, then you have the blonde dude and the black haired dude constantly fighting, the four guys with the van who just do their own stuff and so on and on. It's great.
Yeah that's Narita Ryohgo's style, everyone is the main character.

The cut scene are last scenes from previous episodes. It¨s happening in all openings. The first 1-3 just had that part cut out.
The story is dark and carzy since the start
The guy who made this, Narita, has made multiple stories alongside Durarara, such as Baccano, which you may have heard of and a few others like Vamp and Etsusa Bridge which haven’t gotten animes. But the coolest part of these stories is that they are all connected and reference each other a lot. Like how the narrator of episode 1 of Baccano lives nextdoor to Mikado, one of the three school kids from Durarara.
Omg what he lives nearhim XD He had hell off a time seeing one kid slowly showing how mad he is XD to the point the information dealer is affraid of him XD
This show is an absolute masterpiece in character study especially with characters like celty and of course Izaya
Izaya may be one of the best written antagonists ever

Mikado too people often ignore Mikado because they think Izaya made him the way he is which is like? No. Mikado never was normal but had very strong mask to the point he almost forgot /believed he is normal. No normal person has his reaction to the events even before ep 10 when we started to see who he is. So you can talk for ages about most of the more prominent characters
Durarara is really not your typical shonen. I think it has a really unique and captivating story :D its nice if you're looking for smth different plus those openings pls... years later and theyre still bangers

i only watched season 1 so i cant tell for the other seasons lol but i mean shonen in terms of targeted demographic like its definitely not a shojo targeting girls thus the "not typical shonen"
@@nananya7073 the lightnovel's demographic is just listed as "male", which doesn't necessarily mean shonen either. I think it leans more to seinen (demographic of older young adult males, ages 18-40s).
@@burnburn2644 tbf lightnovels doesnt use shonen shojo terms so just "male" doesnt rule out shonen but speaking of the first ANIME season it is definitely not seinen imo because its not that dark and psychological you can think what you want but compared to other seinen durarara is too tame for me
Normally every opening has these in-between clips that sum up what happened in the last few episodes and the transitions from the clips are always really great! Without spoiling: The show is about gangs and the mystery of the black rider.
This confuses them and then there’s the Nanbaka op and ed with all their sparkles in prison
okay so i only watched the first season of this show like 4 years ago and the story still stuck with me lol,, its kind of confusing since its a nonlinear storyline but it's an absolute must watch. even the most basic characters are built with so much depth and dimension that they stick with you. awesome show
One of the best out there honestly, season 1 and 2 are incredible. Would be a surprisingly good reaction-show I think 🤔 with the mystery aspect.

A boy that wanted to become something special and escape his ordinary boring life, a dangerous but charismatic informant, a kindhearted bartender that causes havoc like a natural disaster, the mysterious non coloured gang named "The Dollars", the urban legend "Black Biker" and the city of Ikebkuro where all of this unfolds.
There are actually people reacting to Durarara...its so good but so underrepresentated in the reaction community. The little scene in between happens in every opening and briefly shows what happens in the last episode
I quite liked the anime and the OPs were a bop!
I think it was really cool that all the major characters in the show had their own goals and motivations and many individual plot points and characters come together and interact, becoming interconnected as the show goes on
Durarara was a kind of anime that we can watch when we get bored. Because there is no protagonist and there is no main story. Total random anime. But i highly recommend this because this anime just that good. Well it is more like "how society works" type of storyline where lead to no main storyline

underrated af anime . unique storytelling pov really makes it stand out .
there really isn't a linear storyline, more like arcs with characters interacting with each other and creating bizarre situations in the city .
why am I so lucky, anyway the last two had cuts from the episodes, and those clips were previews that most episodes have, and more than those two openings have recaps in them
The MC is the town itself, lol. Also, that black hair girl with the white school uniform on the side the van or buses in the ops is from another anime called The Irregular at a Magic High School. Also D.Gray-man ops please.

one of my favorite animes ever! just for the fact that it has a HUGE cast but the story weaves them in so cleverly and the story is so good

Try reacting to psycho-pass and sangatsu no lion openings. Baccano is in the same verse as durarara so you could check that out too

Narita is really good at writing interesting and complex character dynamics. Especially friendships. Especially friendships between men and women that don't immediately default to "me boy, you girl, now we smash".

You should wath the opening for Baccano. It's in the same universe but set in the prohibition times, same style of opening but with the flow this was trying to copy. Both shows are about weird people in weird situations and supernatural events.

What is it about? I don't know?
It have street gangs and a little bit of supernatural, but I think the anime is basically about how Isaya create problems in the life of all the other characters.
It's very difficult to follow the many situations happening at the same time with all characters, but I swear it's a VERY GOOD anime, you two should react to this!
And, also, I reccomend react to D.Gray-Man and Jujutsu Kaisen openings

@@TGLReacts Yeah, it's like, they keep going without telling us the answers of the previous questions they put on. The chat that appear in the op 3 is an example. The anime starts based in it, but it will only be a clear thing in the middle/end of the first season
The show is basically about gang wars but what the show does the best is building up the city in which the story takes place in. In addition to good world building, DRRR is really really good at using its characters. You get to learn the motivations for so many characters and how they're all connected/ why they end up interacting with each other.
If you guys end up watching this, even if you decide not to react to it, just know that it takes a good chunk of the first season before you see the big payoff for all the building they've done. Once you get to like a midseason climax, I can almost guarantee you'll be hooked onto the show. So seriously consider watching this, especially together. Some of my favorite times were watching this weekly with my college anime club and each week just discussing the questions the show poses.
I love this series. In a way, you can say the city itself is the MC. Hope you guys get to watch it sometime.
guys i just discovered your channel with the norgami reaction video and i was so happy that you reacted to durarara!! it's my favorite anime ever. the story is so SO good and immersive. At the beginning i didn't know what was going on but you just have to keep watching and then it all comes together beautifully. It's all connected. There's a lot of characters and a lot of stuff going on so you have to pay close attention but at the end when you had all the pieces it'll be worth it. I loved this so much that i read the light novels and they even had more insight to the characters. This is definitely a must watch, not only the story is extremely compelling but the direction, voice acting and soundtrack are incredible. As many other people said, you should watch baccano! too, especially if you are into peaky blinders or gangsters movies.

You guys should totally watch the show! The show is just as good as the ops! Both the sub and dub are amazing with almost entirely manga accurate seasons
MC is the evil leader of the Dollars gang who poses as an innocent dark haired boy (the hand stabber), but every character gets massive screentime.
all the intros have recaps of the previous episode/ongoing storylines, but the versions you watched had them cut. the recaps are really good and exciting.

This is one of the most underrated master piece. One of my favorites. In short, its about groups, that fight because the main villian make shady moves to make misunderstands. The big dill is that the leaders of the groups are friends, but as all the problems are involved with chats/messages with the cellphones, they dont know that are figthing between themselves.

One of the Underrated so far
Its more so about the mythical Dullahan (from Irish myth) looking for her head in Tokyo and how her presence has effected Tokyo street gangs/underworld etc. The cat helmet biker is the Dullahan, that's why the shows called Durarara. (Japanese pronunciation replaces the Ls for Rs)
Actually Celty the motor rider. Is a Celtic legend called the Dillman, the female version of the headless horseman. She is searching for her stolen head.
Non-linear type of storytelling which every character have their own plotlines that interwine with each other and converge to form a single line which is the entire storyline from different view points of each character.
the first op. definitely my fav
The story basically revolves around black biker that is actually is Dullahan(spirit of the maiden without a head on the headless horse that comes to people before they die) that lost her head. It's the main storyline of the show.

4:24 previously you could see that shadow of the bike is the shadow of the horse, so it is supernatural.

Durara is a very special anime. The mc was in front of your eyes all along. Because the mc of this show is actually the city itself. This show is about this city and all the weirdness and daily life that takes place in this city.

Well this is news to me, I didn't know Durarara had 5 openings. I only watched season one, and knew about season two but never watched it.
Edit: (spoiler) That person on the motorcycle with a scythe is a badass chick, not a dude. Y'all will love her.

I really like Durarara.. the only thing that keeps me from watching all of it is that to fully understand the story you need to read manga and light novel too.. I don't have the money, too much of franchise xD

The endings of the series show all of the characters in a different way
Its a giant, many person love story that involves gang wars, yakuza, a touch of supernatural and serial killers. Also sort of slice of life. But in the end, its all about love. Awesome series.
That scene you saw wasn't part of the op it was an episode recap that is in every OP but the uploader didn't bother taking it out.

Not sure if you've already done the reaction for this but would definitely recommend Aldnoah.Zero, has the best music in anime, the op, Ed and the ost are fantastic.
The first ending of Durarara! is one of the best ending in my opinion, so do listen to it when you find time.

There is no MC in this show. Think of it kind of like Pulp Fiction where there's a lot of stories going on at once within the city and they sometimes overlap. Show is GOATED.
