    long shot through here because I have not been able to find the answer anywhere else. I am having issues with my layer states. I am a drafter with a home builder, and we have 2 files. 1 file called the BASE file, which is 3/4 of the floor plan, and we have a second file called the ELEVATION file, which contains the remaining 1/4 of the plan, front elevations, side elevations, and rear elevations. The BASE file is XREF into the ELEVATION file. When setting up the LAYER STATES, I have one called SLAB PLAN, and this will change my fixture layer and wall layer into dashed lines to make it easy for the concrete guys to read. However, when it comes to paper space in my viewports, it seems like the foundation overrides the 1st FLOOR PLAN, and the walls should be continuous, but they stay dashed as if the SLAB is overriding what I want to happen on the 1st-floor plan. My layer states have the option that says "apply properties as viewports override," but for some reason, it still overrides my layer states. This also happens with my electrical plans, and it is driving me crazy. I need help figuring out what the issue could be. Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated!! Sample 1 is the interior walls not being changed to dashed even though I have the layer state to perform this task. In sample 3, the walls changed from continuous to solid, so the slab layer state overrides the walls for the electrical plan.

    When you do this with blocks in the model space, it doesn't change the colour of the blocks.
    Is there a way to grey out the blocks in in the viewport without having to go into the blocks in the model space?

    • @Cadintentions
      @Cadintentions  10 месяцев назад +1

      If you use the layer 0 for the objects in your block, ie. in block editor, add all of the objects in the block to layer 0. Then you're block properties should be controlled by the layer you have them on and any changes you make to the VP overrides.
      So set the objects to layer 0 in block editor, then you can put the block on any layer you want in "model" space and the properties will match the layer the block is actually placed on.
      Hopefuly that helps and makes sense!!

    Your explanation is excellent. for some reason when I change the VP color in viewport - model state to greys with 3 num. (91,91,91 for ex.) the greys changes also the colors in other position of the layers (not only in the view port). can you please help me to solve it? Thanks a lot. Idit

    I want to plot with the style Legacy Hidden, but then it uses the original colors instead of the viewport colors. Any idea how to fix?
    Things I tried was setting the actual display style to hidden instead of 2D wireframe and the plot style to As Displayed, but that does not give the quality I want for the result.

    What is the command for layer overides? I know there is a value that you can set to 1 or 0 in the command line.

    How can we copy a viewport's layer settings - including VP colour changes - to another viewport? I keep googling the problem and have the LAYERSTATES manager come up a lot, but this does not update my colours as needed in the new viewport. Is there an answer?

    Hi Brandon! I am having an issue. When I turn off/on layer inside Viewport in particular layout, that change applies across all other layouts, even in model space. Do you know what is that could be? Thank you

    is it possible to change the transparency of a block in one specific viewport however in another viewport the same will appear at transparency level 0???

    • @Cadintentions
      @Cadintentions  2 года назад

      Yes you should be able to use the layer transparency setting and override it based on each viewport.

      I have a inserted a block in model view, with transparency setting bylayer. Then switching to layout and selecting a specific viewport, VP Transparency is set to 75, however do not see any effect. Overall
      Transparency setting is selected.

    How to convert a color drawing (NOT plot/print) to a monochrome-grayscale drawing ? I mean what if we get a drawing with many colors and we want to convert the drawing in greyscale ? is there any fast way ? Propably a way that will change the color of its layer with its greyscale equivalent ????

    Great video. Is it possible to have a viewport within a viewport and change color or transparency of area outside the second viewport. - This would highlight an area on a plan? Like a window over a larger area and everything outside the window is greyscale

    Hi Brandon! Good video! I unfortunately have tried changing just the viewport color for just my interior walls. But its not changing. Other items can be changed just fine, but not the interior walls. Any thoughts? Thank you!

    • @ivo001

      Check if the object colors are set to ByLayer, or in case of a block, make sure the objects in the block are set to ByBlock, and the block itself to Bylayer.

      Maybe you have colour by block and not by layer. This only works when all the stuff inside a layer have properties by layer, otherwise you won't be able to override their properties
