Since you don't seem to care much about the frequency, it's possible to do much simpler with just two transistors, two resistors and two diodes, you make a ZVS oscillator which will be resonant with the transformer, and as a bonus the transistors will only switch at zero voltage and will likely not need a heat sink at all. I've done that a few times already.

I forgot to mention the potentiometer set value. Sorry for that. I set 12k potentiometer it's can generate 50Hz frequency PWM.
