It was very telling how Chris Evans had no interest in talking about Marvel junk or analyzing it in any way. He knows it's just a nonsense ego construct. It shows how its just a meal ticket and his true passions lie elsewhere
@@leob4403 if you listen to him talk about Marvel he's always incredibly affectionate towards both Steve and Johnny Storm, and also very complimentary about Kevin Feige (and was yknow, at Kevin's Hollywood walk of fame ceremony) and the Russos. I think it's pretty insulting to Chris to insinuate that he would see such a big chunk of his career as no more than a meal ticket. It's clearly very dear to him and he's just careful in how he talks about it.

I've loved both pete and chris for decades now. but I didn't know I could love them any more than in the moment where pete said "love is free" and chris said "this is why I love you" its so refreshing to see just two good ol boys.
Chris was so honest and vulnerable in this and hearing him say that even he - a person who is adored all over the world - struggles with anxiety and lack of confidence sometimes is weirdly comforting. Don't get me wrong, it is not because I want him to suffer but because it confirms that no amount of money or number of accolades can take away the uncomfortable feelings. Also, the work he has done to help find relief from those is admirable and he has some great tips! I tried the "take a vacation from your thoughts" last night and it worked! He could do his own podcast on mindfulness. Mindfulnevans! :D
The more I get to “know” Chris the more it makes me love him, all the way from his laugh, personality, eyes, smile, even thinking, the way that he is humble and genuine in this interview makes me love him more, my best wishes for you Chris if you’re reading this, take care stay safe and keep loving the way you love ❤️ and do whatever is best for you 💜hopefully someday we can all find someone like chris 🤍
This podcast was enlightening, humbling, and effortlessly cool. Thank you @peteholmes and @chrisevans for this honest conversation. The energy was magnificent!
This episode was so fascinating, I feel like Chris & Pete were so perfectly on the same wavelength with eachother that I honestly hope Chris could become a regular guest
Chris, I don’t if you read these, but I want to say, it’s striking how you paint a picture with words. Your use of metaphor and imagery is a gift. You should write. Honestly.
1:14:48 Dogs are incredible teachers! Much like Chris says about his dog, my own old pup often sits in the yard, taking in her present environment. It looks like she's doing some doggy meditation. Her brain will still instinctively process sensory clues (no pesky squirrels in her yard lol), but she looks so at peace and fully taking in her "now". I WISH I could do this! I love hearing humans talk about learning from animals, its so beautiful.
It's so refreshing to see Chris and Pete talk spiritually, and appreciating their existence, it what islam teaches us, and we constantly, pray and fast during the month Ramadan to remind us constantly to what we have and be grateful 🙏
Wait, I’ve never seen or heard him in his own vibe, clothes and ACCENT 😮 I’ve literally never heard his real voice outside of a character. He seems really cool.
Indeed I was blown away by this podcast. Soooo many things you discussed resonate, I got shivers and goosebumps, and the concepts you mentioned, the awe of life, EVERYTHING was SO relatable. This is the best interview with Chris Evans, thank you both for the laughs and for this meaningful discussion.
Saw a clip on IG. Immediately jumped to YT search bar. I absolutely loved the episode. Pete... gotta hand it to you, a tremendous effort to incorporate your perspective on things, running a podcast and simultaneously transitioning and guiding the concepts through various narratives. It is apparent that you have done your homework on Chris' work, that is what I appreciate as a viewer. Chris is such an inspiration of mine... and every time I come across a podcast or open format conversation on his work experience, personal life and goals, I'm all ears. Watched every second of it. Absolutely loved it!
I love interviews that are really more like conversations where the interviewer is more engaged with what the guest wants to talk about rather than keeping them on a script.
Wow. I've only just gotten around to watching all the Marvel films and while I loved Chris as an action hero I had no idea what he'd bring to this podcast. What a cool, chill, deep thinking dude. Loved listening to this conversation.
he's a fantastic actor and usually brings life to the otherwise meh films he's been in. Scott pilgrim VS the world is a great movie and Chris is in it. you get some comedy and action in one
What a gift it has been to be able to listen to Chris being himself, so natural, simple and honest. He is one of my favorite human beings and I love him 😍.
This was such a beautiful moment to spend with you both. So excited for you both to expand your journey of awareness deeper into the true self. Truly grateful for this space & time you created.
Loved the interview. Seeing Chris talk about certain issues that u don't normally see him talk about is amazing. Picking his brain. Love how the Amazon truck went by. LOL Dropping the F bombs, haha.
This talk came at a great point in my life. Every concept I would have understood so surface level a year ago, like accepting your anxiety; respecting it but understanding it is best to hear it then move on. Or "being alone among people" this I have felt for a few years now but only with this talk has the concept been truly realized. Kinda wild it came from the podcast with college humor Batman, and Captain America. Love you guys.
wow... I was not expecting to run across such a wonderful interview today. I love watching interviews where both parties are engaged. this felt like 2 friends catching up. my heart is so happy seeing what a chill guy Chris Evans is. you worry about "dont meet your heroes" he seems genuine. also, it's such a relief hearing Pete say he can't watch certain movies or TV where people make dumb decisions... I have the same anxiety... this... this was good. wonderful job, thank you both.✌🏻
I like how Pete did his research and also allows his guests to just speak freely and also is giving helpful advice to people. I also like how Chris Evans is just open and his personality is really shining. It's amazing to see and I definitely see a difference when he's on and being interviewed vs here and being interviewed.
Love this sweet interview! So happy for Pete getting to do it, so happy for Chris getting to do it, so happy for Val getting to NO DOUBT listen in now and again at the door while she keeps Brody out of the room. Loved it ❤🥰
Chris is just so real, I honestly think I could have a wonderful discussion with him. I'd be friends with him if I met him, just one-part best friend, one-part superstar.
I adore Pete Holmes and although I think Chris Evans is a phenomenal actor, I've never seen him interviewed! What an extraordinary conversation among immensely talented and intelligent men! It was too short!
Absolutely loved listening to this 👍 Chris was so real and kind of amazing actually! It was so enlightening, and just the day to day stuff you guys talked about made sense and you could relate to it. It was so raw, but powerful with some of the comments Chris made, like living in the moment, and going on a vacation...f*****g brilliant! I'm a huge fan of Chris Evans, but just listening to his thought process, and how he answered some of your questions was great👌❤ Again, thoroughly enjoyed listening to it, would love to hear more from you and Chris again some day! 👍
I began listening when you had Elliott Smith's close friend. and now we have Chris Evans on dropping Elliott's name as well... it feels full circle. Love you pete! always make it weird!
What a great interview! As gal from Cambridge, I looooved all of the local references and nuggets! I love supporting people from my home state. MASSHOLE for life!
Fantastic episode! Pete and Chris were so great! But I have to say Chris Evans has done a podcast, he did Doug Loves Movies, got funny drunk and cursed at Leonard Maltin. It was one of the best things ever!
This was so fun and insightful! Thank you for getting Chris on a podcast! Another person who is a phenomenal podcast guest is Sebastian Stan. He'll talk about books and health and acting and writing and how he views social media. He's so great and honest.
Pete's stand-up and his TV shows have never really landed for me (not meant to disrespect him, just my personal taste), but WOW is he excellent at these interviews. This was a GREAT conversation. I can't wait to watch/listen to more episodes.
Wow Omg for sure could talk to Chris Evans endlessly like no just these subjects but a lot more on aliens , outer space, music, conspiracy theories, 80s my little ponies 😂 we have endless things to talk about! I’ll just never forget having my energy compared to his on set and it was in a sense I was a genuinely kind as him 🥹 best compliment! Thanks y’all for this was great to rewatch before bed…love your new look Chris.🥹
I was growing into my leadership status as a soldier when Evans’s Captain America came in to the zeitgeist. I grew up and saw myself in his story arc. I saw myself as a person of action and integrity but found myself in a world where the very big scale entities (my unit, the Army, our “missions”) disillusioned me and forced me to question my place, my purpose, my allegiances. My career in the Army ended in tandem with Steve Rogers, and I have found a similar peace by reflecting on my time and returning to what Angelica cared for and her interests before she donned the uniform and identity/mantle and burdens as we we do entering adulthood. I returned to my essence because I watched Captain America movies. So thank you, Chris, for being my Truman Show through the 10+ year commitment to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Your art matters. It mattered to me.
@@officialchrisevans800 I grew up watching a bunch of the stuff Chris was in, but he won me over in The Losers in 2010. One of my favorites is So Cool. Chris, you bring heart and humor to every project. Thanks for replying, team! 🤗
I am so glad I found this. What a fantastic interview! You both went to a place I love to be, deep in the emotional, connected cerebral vortex. Thank you.
In regards to Chris' comment about eye contact, I too struggle with this. I lived in Japan for a few years and one of their cultural habits that I prefer is that they don't maintain eye contact during an entire conversation. It's actually considered unnerving to them and you're supposed to allow your eyes to wander here and there
Great interview. Life is simple it only gets complicated when you try and explain using words, words are clumsy so trying to convince or explain a mindset/believe to a person or group of people is like a dog chasing its tail. Some people have a gift for explaining all you do is listening and enjoy and live it. Most people live their entire life without ever a thought towards these things like a Sparrow that's fine also. 😊
This is easily the coolest interview Chris has ever done
