I had a couple of non waxed canvas stuff bags, I decided to try to wax them, I just happened to have a 50ct unscented tea lights (paraffin wax) which is nice they are already ina biscuit shape, I rubbed on the bags and held it in front of a radiant heater and melted it in, I had to get about 5 coats on but it worked pretty good.
Mate that's a hardcore little bag ( I say little ) you got loads of bits in there 😂. Will have a look at your camp with that gear in a few days 👍 take care J 👌

Thank you, thank you, thank you. You carry a few tent pegs which weigh next to nothing. Totally agree that to have them handy when needed instead of what so many on utube do by taking the time to carve some. No it doesn't take long to break a few branches and wack a point on them but you're hardly weighing yourself down with the few ounces these are. For me the same goes with carrying a folding saw. I have one with about an 18" blade and again weighs less than a lb. Yet others will bring only a blade and mess around with a sharp knife in fridged weather to carve notches in a stick and make a bow saw. I never understood that. In the time it takes them to craft their saw I'd have a nice pile of wood cut.

Thank you very much Tennessee Smoky. I really appreciate your view and comment. The food mess kit is stainless steel and smaller than your average mess tin, which better suited my requirements. I got it from Amazon but I don't believe that they are available right now. Cook kit usually consists of a large folding bushbox and either a homemade alcohol stove or the trangia burner for backup. I also use a haversack, and I like the way that you put yours together it’s a different type of course. I saw you didn’t I thought your first one and I see you’ve done a lot so I’m glad keep them coming I enjoy them I’m in my 70s so I get to watch a lot of them now.
I also got three Swiss .8 liter canteens with aluminum cups. They are flat shaped and fit nicely into the side of the bag. I’ve got my 8x5 tarp with reflective side rolled up and stowed on the bottom instead of in back like yours. May move it though as i like the way it carries on yours. Spork and fold up stove and first aid kit also. Folding saw and Para Cord.

Hi Will, thank you so much for your very kind words. I hope that you enjoy using your Polish Bread Bag as much as I still do. Waxing it is quite a simple affair. I use a wax puck of 7 parts paraffin wax to 1 part beeswax and melt them on a stove. Once mixed pour into a cupcake case and leave to solidify. Apply generously to the bag when you are ready and just melt it into the canvas with a hairdryer (That's what most folk tend to use). One wax puck will easily provide 2 applications. Some gear goes on my belt when I'm far enough from civvy attention and the wet consumables reduces during the trip. Hiya Dene, you can't go wrong with the old DD Tarps. Great bits of kit and definitely won't break the bank. As for a groundsheet, I usually use a dpm poncho. Multiple uses and if you need to cover a larger area, just use more. Hope that helps buddy. Atb, J 👍

Those are super compressed paper towels my friend. You add a small amount of water to them and they greatly expand. They have multiple uses and in there dry compressed form you can even fluff them up to use as dry tinder 🔥👍
For fishing I use a bread bag of the German army (Bundeswehr). It is certainly smaller than the Polish one, but everything you need fits. ...and even one bottle of beer🍺🤣🤣🤣
Your wax coating you said was a ratio of 7:1. What combination did you use and how much of each (measurement wise). I had no idea about the Polish bread bags, I'm definitely going to look into them, a hell of a lot more affordable than some of these other haversacks that I've been pricing out. Also VERY nice video, I would've never heard of them if I didn't watch it. Thanks again and I'm going to check out your other ones.

The quantity is entirely up to you, depending on how many items you would like to wax. One wax puck the size of a cup cake will be enough to easily put 2 coatings onto a Polish bread bag. Nice loadout... Ive seen a guy with that over one shoulder... On other shoulder a plash palatka roll with bits like small axe in it.. Looked good

For fishing I use a bread bag of the German army (Bundeswehr). It is certainly smaller than the Polish one, but everything you need fits.

Your wax coating you said was a ratio of 7:1. What combination did you use and how much of each (measurement wise). I had no idea about the Polish bread bags, I'm definitely going to look into them, a hell of a lot more affordable than some of these other haversacks that I've been pricing out. Also VERY nice video, I would've never heard of them if I didn't watch it. Thanks again and I'm going to check out your other ones.
Hi Peter many thanks for watching and your comment. The ratio of the wax is 7 parts parrafin wax to 1 part beeswax. The quantity is entirely up to you, depending on how many items you would like to wax. One wax puck the size of a cup cake will be enough to easily put 2 coatings onto a Polish bread bag. @@peterv1318 Hi Peter, l just rub it onto the canvas and heat it up to melt the wax in. I'll give it a couple of coats and then your good to go. Hope that helps.
