  • The Crittergetter provides a gopher control technique that has been used successfully throughout the U.S. by savvy farmers and homeowners for decades. A report performed by the University of Nebraska for the U.S. department of Agriculture has proven this abatement method to be 90% effective for the elimination of gophers. A link to this document can be found here: www.crittergett... - Page B-25. The Crittergetter uses a proactive rather than reactive abatement technique that is safe for use around both children and pets.

    The method I used was a pack of 20 cigarettes. Sat next to the hole blowing the smoke down the entrance to the tunnel. It didn't work though. Turned out it wasn't even a gopher hole, just a drain pipe. I live in the UK and we don't have gophers. Hope it helps.

    @cklimen I've been doing this for 20 years. Took a old 100 foot section of 4in. fire hose,duct taped the leaks, and hooked it onto the exhaust of my Dodge dually with Cummins Diesel. Used it on digger squirrels that were tearing up my buddys almond orchard first. Then used it on gophers and moles in my own yard. Works like a charm.

    If you have a LP gas bottle and or some sort of fish cooker, Disconnect the hose from whatever it is connected to. Take the bottle and hose and go to your gopher hole and stick the hose in and mound the dirt around the hose and open the valve on the tank to a low volume for about 15 or 20 minutes. Just make sure that you don't light a cigarette near the area. Thepest will be gone when you are done. It works. I have done it!

    I'm on a 22 acre horse ranch right next to Malibu, Ca. called Malibu Creek Equestrian and we have a gopher problem. 100%! It might be easier to use this product because we have 2 diesel ATV's as well as our trucks so attaching a hose to the exhaust would be more universal. Tonight, the owner and I, used water to identify the main hole and the little sucker popped his head up for air. Philip was ready with his pump pellet rifle and... I think he got him. But for gophers they're hard to get!

    Not all CO is turned to CO2 in a catalytic converter.. Vehicles pre 81 (introduction of the three-way converter) barely removed half (if that in some vehicles) Not even the newer cars can remove 100% of CO from expelling. Refer to the entire state of California if you are still confused.

    @noclouds111 - Make sure you have all the burrow openings closed or covered other than the opening you're fumigating. Voles typically have a lot of them (openings), some of which may be hard to see.
    This method is extremely reliable. If it isn't working, there's an opening somewhere that's allowing the gas to escape. Keep with it, you'll get 'um!
    This method of burrowing pest control is extremely effective. It is not, however, always easy.

    The best way I found to do this is to revv the engine. With a high volume flow it floods the burrows with fumes before they block it off.
    A bitty garden hose on a mower not so good.

    @antknee420 Regarding toxic residue; any CO (Carbon Monoxide) that is not converted to carboxyhemoglobin rapidly oxidizes to Carbon Dioxide because CO is highly unstable. There isn't any residual CO in the body because upon the creation of a high enough concentration of carboxyhemoglobin to become toxic, breathing (and therefore CO intake) stops.

  • @cklimen
    @cklimen  12 лет назад

    @antknee420 Carbon Monoxide is not a poison in the classical sense as say Strychnine, Arsenic, or Cyanide. Carbon Monoxide is toxic because it displaces oxygen and causes asphyxiation while leaving zero toxic residue behind. Carbon Dioxide and Nitrogen, the two most prevalent compounds found in engine exhaust, are also toxic in this same manner.

  • @cklimen
    @cklimen  12 лет назад

    @JAG9100 at start up and idle, the catalytic converter is terribly inefficient. Under perfect conditions (appropriate temperature, new condition, perfect velocity, etc...), the catalytic converter is 70% to 90% efficient. Older converters and cool running engines even less so.
    That small inefficiency is more than enough to take care of the job.

  • @cklimen

    You really don't use much gas because you run your vehicle at idle and only for ten to fifteen minutes. The experts state it only takes four to six minutes to do the job... we like to err on the side of caution. Some animals (like moles) have very extensive burrows, so, if you're dealing with one of these critters go for the longer time period. Gophers, Groundhogs, Chipmunks, Prairie Dogs, & Ground Squirrels all have smaller, less intricate burrows that don't require as much time.

When you use the Crittergetter, you deal out gopher control on YOUR terms, not the gophers. Install the applicator, turn on the car/truck/tractor/mower/whatever, and do something constructive like paint the house, kiss the wife, or play with the kids.

Regarding "poisoning the earth", anybody who adds any sort of commercial fertilizer or pest control products to their lawn or garden are doing far greater harm than our product - The Carbon Monoxide quickly turns into Carbon Dioxide which is technically food for plants.
