    There is a common problem on Honda's of the O-rings on the inlet hose getting hard and allowing air into the system. That is the sound you might have heard. Always worth trying new o-rings before replacing the pump.

      Oooh, good tip. My steering will be pretty normal (a bit tough) one minute and rock hard the next. I kind of thought there might have been air in the system and that might explain why.

    • @lmsdiy

      Just want to confirm the diagnosis is the power steering? Not a whining like from the alternator or an idler pulley?
      I have another video coming soon where I incorrectly diagnosed a belt whining to be belt tensioner when it turned out to be alternator. Just wondering if you are experiencing the same.

    "Hello, I'm your subscriber from Indonesia, please help, when I have a new car, replace the high pressure hose on my power steer pump because initially there was an oil leak.
    But after I changed my steering wheel, if I made it turn left or right, there was a buzzing sound that could be felt in the car cabin.
    Where does this come from? I tried consulting with a repair shop and they said my power pump was damaged. In your opinion, is the mechanical analysis in Indonesia correct? And finally, can my power pump be repaired and what parts do you think need to be replaced? Thank you very much in advance, I am waiting to hear from you. GBU."

    I saw another video, where the guy released belt tension on top (2 bolts to adjust tension I believe... know of this method?

    • @lmsdiy
      @lmsdiy  10 месяцев назад

      I think it depends on the engine and belt tensioner type. I have done this on farm equipment like sweepers but I've not come across this on any automotive engines that I've personally worked on.

    Is the fluid getting on the belt anything to be concerned about?

    • @lmsdiy
      @lmsdiy  Год назад

      Although power steering fluid isn’t good for the belt (or any rubber or paint), a tiny bit isn’t a huge concern but best practice would be to try to wipe it off with a rag.

      It was a remanufactured part but I didn’t get it from Honda so actually I’m not sure if it’s remanufactured genuine Honda or remanufactured aftermarket.

      Hello, to be completely honest with you, I would trust the opinion of a licensed repair shop that has seen and diagnosed your vehicle over me, a DIY guy in Canada who has no access to your vehicle.
      I really can't offer you an appropriate opinion on this. I'm sorry but I would rather you and your family be safe and check with a local licensed repair shop on that issue.

      According to your analysis, my steering pump is the couse of the humming sound ? And the repair shop that handles my car also confused about analysing the couse of the sound because before replacing the high pressure hose there was no sound .

    • @lmsdiy
      @lmsdiy  3 месяца назад

      @@darmawanwardhana1836 hello, unfortunately I cannot offer you a diagnosis over the Internet. I recommend you have your vehicle inspected by a licensed service technician in Indonesia. 🙂
