No Slater and Zack definitely were not the same. Slater was actually a good person in retrospect. Zack was a complete sociopath that exploited everybody to his advantage (including Slater). I think the worst that Slater got was stooping to Zack's low to get back at him a few times. But more often than not Zack is a horrible person lol, we didn't realize it at the time. Zack Morris is Trash explains it all so clearly! lol.
I don't think Zack was trash at all. Selfish and opportunistic, certainly...but he still cared about people for the most part. Of all his friends, his biggest allegiances were to Kelly and Screech, though Mr. Belding was "target number one" for his pranks. If you compare the two, Zack was a lot like a TV version of Ferris Bueller. Both could get away with almost anything - men wanted to be them, and women wanted to be with them.

For an Aprils Fool's Day prank video, could the Nostalgia Critic do a "review" of Horsin' Around, the Full House parody on Bojack Horseman? I would pay money to see a Horsin' Around parody review.
LMFAO! That is *nothing* compared to the times where the jokes *did* drag on for too long like a Family Guy episode, like his later Commercial videos, and the first few reviews he did when he started Critic videos again.
Hey guys, wanna convert to the religion of Bidoof? Our Lord and savior may look a little weird, but he has brought us much joy for his ability to cut tiny trees and smash rocks. His father Bibarel brought us the gift of surfing before we have a water type and pushing large boulders that impede our travels. His friend Tropius brought us the gift of fly to get from town to town and not let our opponents get an easy set up for our descent in battle, and allowed us to clear fog without wasting a spot for a better move. Come and join me my brethren, for Bidoof is the way, the truth, and the derp.
Ok, I know this is a really old episode, but I have to say this. If I was directing "Save by the bell" I would have made it so that Zack found Becky earlier in the series, maybe with a broken wing. So that that way he could take care of her for a few episodes and the audience would get to feel and care for her better. Then on one episode he relizes that since Becky's wing is all better he has to release her to the school pond and he tells her that he will visit her. Then the next episode, will be the oil episode. Becky dies and now everyone is crying over the death of a character that meant a lot to everyone, even the audience. Hope you liked my idea.
That actually would be a pretty good idea. She could become like the little animal friend that a lot of t shows had. That would make her death all the more surprising and tragic.
0:05-0:18 Millennials in a heartbeat! We had to go through a lot...9/11, The 2008 Panic, and now The Coronavirus! Now we just wanna get back to the 90's when we were kids!
She didn't really get addicted. She was taking them in moderation before Zack tried to make a get-rich-quick scheme with Kelly, Jessie and Lisa. Then there was the time he broke Screech's heart by making moves on Lisa while taking credit for helping her set up a fashion show. Then the time he gambled away Screech's dog trying to win $250 to buy an Elvis bust he and the girls broke that was Screech's mom's most prized possession. I can't believe he and Kelly marry at the end of The College Years.
No, it's going to be unfortunate in a few more years when 90s clothes come back. I'm personally praying this weird cyclical fashion thing skips grunge.
Caffeine pills? How do you get addicted to that? And even if you did I can't imagine it would be worse than just drinking a lot of coffee. Goodness knows there are plenty of people who can hardly start their day without a few cups. I guess they were too afraid to do an episode on the harder drugs.
People wreck their lives on caffeine pills regularly mostly diet pills coffee isn’t high in caffeine you have to drink 10 to 12 cups to equal 1 pill and they generally take more than 1 at a time
Pretty please With sugar on top 1 pill is equal to a 1 medium-large coffee. It’s 100mgs. Espresso’s can have up to 300mg of caffeine per cup. The pills, Because they are over the counter “medications” , have to be sold in safe dosages. So a few pills won’t kill you, or be any worse than drinking a pot of coffee. They are quite different than the diet pills you seem to be thinking of, those contain Ephedra(a methamphetamine chemical relative) and Caffeine. But, most stores have stopped stocking them, because they can be used in the production of a crystal meth alternative.
The caffeine pill episode was one of my favorites. When it first aired I laughed so damn hard. I think we they did a mini reunion on Jimmy Fallon Elizabeth Berkeley even mocked it.
I always thought Mario Lopez actually knew how to play the drums simply because he played the drums in a tv show band way before Saved By the Bell, called Kids Incorporated. It was like the Mickey Mouse Club, the live-action group of singing kids not the cartoon
2008 ?! Man, Doug's been doing this for ages. Thankfully, he's still around and I still enjoy watching his videos (even though I only started watching him in 2011/2012, which IIRC was around the time the show was on hiatus).
And this show ended up with a couple more continued series like the college years and one next generation featuring the children of the original class and at least one episode of the next generation when Belding tells a story about the original kids to basically the same group of kids.
Oh how the times have changed for the opening line. I'm now in college and everyone I know wants to be a kid again, and definitely not an adult. Even high schoolers are getting more and more nostalgic and nihilistic and existentialist and they're still kids!
Hey Nostalgia Critic, loved this video as i watched this show religiously as a kid but i was wondering why you didn't touch on the fact that the Good Morning miss bliss episodes were integrated into the syndicated run of Saved by the bell and they even added an intro bit of Zack explaining that these were from years prior to the Bayside years, it's a pretty interesting bit of TV trivia i can't really recall any other shows doing anything like that.

Regarding the oil-duck episode I guess nobody bothered to remind these kids that the Los Angeles area includes the La Brea Tar Pits and that animals have been dying in those for oh...tens of thousands of years or so. Education that must have skipped the Beverly Hills school.
When it happens in a place where it has been happening for tens of thousands of years and suddenly one pretends it's all about some wealthy industrialist then yeah. Better let it happen just like it's happening. Or you know, don't put a duck in a tar pit.
When in the story line they just had a duck swimming around in a pond randomly and it died from oil getting all over it, then yeah. It really does have nothing to do with it.

5:03 Wait a second....didn't Pepper Ann had a similar plotline to this? I mean, both episodes have the character (Zach, Pepper Ann) realizing that they have partial Native American heritages, but their stereotypical views of American Indian culture get them into trouble. Why do I feel that Pepper Ann of all shows did this kind of episode better?
I have not seen Suicide Squad yet, but from what I've heard Leto's Joker doesn't hold up when compared to Jack Nicholson or Heath Ledgers roles as the character.
Used to LOVE watching Nostalgia Critic all these years back. Hard to believe this review is gonna be 9 years old this year. Where the hell did the time go???
There was a few double standards on the show (mostly against men). For example, when Zack breaks up with Kelly for the school nurse, he’s considered a jerk, but when Kelly breaks up with Zack for her boss, everything’s okay (in what world is it appropriate for a person who’s an adult plus her boss anyways?). Another example would be that Kelly doesn’t have to pretend to be older to date a college guy (again inappropriate), but Zack DOES have to present to be older to date a college girl (in the fake IDs episode). Another one is that Kelly is unwilling to go steady with Zack for quite a while, but willing to go steady with Jeff after BARELY JUST MEETING HIM! Those are just three examples. After typing all that, I can see Kelly was quite a bitch!
I miss the old Nostalgia Critic. I’m sorry but I can definitely do without all of the little side characters and costumes. All the videos need is Doug.
I loved this show as a kid, it was hilariously over the top and, since I was watching it in Britain, it looked like what young British kids thought American schools were like; so it was fun.
You ever feel that some episodes gave the impression "Two wrongs make a right"? Still, Screech did get some respect when he became the assistant principal to Belding in the later series.
Kelly: Dumb Slater: Stupid Lisa: Crazy Jessie: Dangerous Screech: Stinks Doug: in one word, would I watch Saved By Bell? No way in Hell. (Okay, so that's more than one word)

Why is it always a Texan Oil Baron? There's oil in other places. Why not an Alaskan Oil Baron?
The cowboy hats make them look more evil
That part at 8:00. Zack in that scene reminds of me when my dog died last month.
Still a better Joker laugh than Jared Leto
I hope this is not sarcasm because I indeed found Leto's laugh horrible
+Levi's Height Infires my Jams Tis not sarcasm
TheJewGamer thank god
Fair enough, as Zack is a big asshole.
There’s an entire show on youtube that explains all the messed up things Zach did on the show but Kelly’s the bitch.
RIP Dustin "Screech" Diamond
Here after learning Dustin Diamond passed away. Rest in Peace
Still, Screech did get some respect when he became the assistant principal to Belding in the later series.
their 1990 camera then your 2008 camera back in the day.
*That's when you know funding was tough for him then XD*
Kelly: Dumb
Slater: Stupid
Lisa: Crazy
Jessie: Dangerous
Screech: Stinks
Doug: in one word, would I watch Saved By Bell? No way in Hell. (Okay, so that's more than one word)
The Critic has improved a lot over the years.
So nice to see Slater was eventually able to get new work as Barry Goldberg.
I am both laughing and cringing at the glitter jacket. Safe dose.
6:15: 🎶In the navy! yes you can sail the 7 seas in the navy! Yes you can put your mind at ease in the navy!🎶
@10:52 Oh boy, this episode is not aging well.
I'm ashamed at how hard I ended up laughing at the whole dressed up Zach thing. It broke me eventually and I'm just a little too high so I cackled.
