Incase you'd rather read instead of listen, here's a short breakdown of the video information! I took two months off from RUclips for a lot of reasons, which early on led to me learning that our channel is screwed in the RUclips algorithm. This is because of the variety of games I've played, our dead subs, and some other smaller reasons. This led to the break being longer than I originall wanted. My position in the Pokemon community has changed. The Pokemon community was my friends, which aren't really all that close anymore, which makes uploading Pokemon way less appealing, which leads to worse content. I talk for a very long time about the Nappy situation. I left a couple things out, but I told him a long time ago that if he came back, I'd have to address the situation. So between his return, and information I shared with someone getting spread around, this talk was inevitable. I've been doing other things! DnD Presents, which is currently on hold with the state of the world, and as soon as I have an update, you'll see it on twitter! I'm on another song on Nate's newest album, so CHECK THAT OUT IN THE DESCRIPTION. I have a new TFT channel where I upload Teamfight Tactics 3-4 times a week, so check that out if it interest you! I'm sure this will get lost in the thousands of comments but Shady I've always viewed you as a role model from my years on RUclips and still do to this day. Meeting you at PAX was a pleasure and hopefully one day can cross paths again and be able to chat a little more. I relate to so much that you've spoken over the past several years. I know you aren't as connected to the Pokemon Community anymore, but from someone who is, so many people still look up to you whether or not you upload or feel disconnected. Obviously your family is your priority and I respect that so much. One day I'd love to be able to talk more and gain even knowledge from someone who I've looked up to and relate too. Sad, because what I thought I was doing in that moment sharing that information about you in my video(s) regarding the situation was the right thing cause juss like you everybody involved in the group has been borderline harassed about the same things you have and I just wanted it to end. After seeing this video I understand that is WASN'T my place until you or anybody else wanted to speak on it and that's your right to speak your side of the story of a BIG narrative that people continue to spin. The wisest piece of wisdom I have ever heard is that broken trust is like a shattered glass. You can gather all the pieces and glue it back together, it may even hold water again, but it'll never be the same glass. There was no right or wrong in your situation and we as the audience still don't know a lot, but if you left your line open to a friend in need, regardless of what happened, until you could move on and decide a verdict for yourself, you're already setting a great example for others. I remember you saying about 2 years when you started slowing down, “if you’re not growing, you’re dying” I remember finding you in 2014 and being a freshman, and watching your videos through hs excited for every new soul link, and always checking in during college. Now im a loan officer at a bank for auto loans, done with college, and this video reminded me of playing Pokemmo in hs and playing with my group of online friends that i spent thousands of hours and competitive pokemong got me into competitive csgo in college, and got super close to playing on a team in seattle for mt dew league, but I instead moved on and focused on school and i still have a few of those friends on fb and I am extremely close to them. Thank you for getting me into the competitive pokemon scene and honestly completely making a mark in my life, the impact you have on the future content creators and people of this world is alot bigger than you think :), because I was in a not so great place when i found this channel and competitive Pokémon and online pokemon

Shady, I've been watching you on RUclips for 7 years. Around the time that my wife and I got back into Pokemon and I started looking up Poketubers on RUclips. We ended up finding this guy that had a magnificent beard and awesome hair and pretty the best personality I've ever seen on this platform, next to Chuggaconroy. You inspired me to get back into game and into the competitive aspect of the game along with inspiring me to jump on the platform myself. So I can say this completely and wholeheartedly...you are my favorite RUclipsr. Your integrity has always been something that I can you haven't faltered on and I know that during that time with Nappy was like a knife being stabbed in your heart due to your friendship and seeing how it affect those within your circle. I've seen it happen in mine as well. Thank you for your authenticity on the matter when it comes to your chapter in the story, it does bring clarity in some aspects because of the betrayal that the community felt from Nappy doing what he did. I also understand keeping those lines of communication open because I have done the same, because I truly want to believe that people will seek and aim to better themselves and get help. Drugs destroy people and would say changes what a person use to be if they don't get help . I would say this is a little different because this is something nappy is and despite their friendship it a part of him he wasn't going share so you thought you knew him but you never really do know someone at end of day. I imagine but not to the same extent it like being a wife of rapist or something extreme , a side of them they never showed to their wife etc

I watched you and so many of the other “poketubers” growing up and after years and years it’s nice to see some consistency. You have been who you are since I started watching you 5-6 years ago, and I see you and hear you today as the same respectable, kind, and inspiring man I did back then. I was never one to buy merch but I remember the one thing I did get was one of your shirts years ago. It’s easy to see now why I was so drawn to you! I can’t express my condolences for this whole situation in any good way and I know I’m just another person out of thousands who have watched you over the years, but keep your head up and stay strong man. I completely agree with that. I started watching Shady back in 2016 because my friend suggested him to me and I absolutely fell in love with him and the content that he made. I may not watch him as much now, but he introduced me to many other youtubers (specifically Joey) who I've been watching as of recently. I love how ambitious Shady is to try new things and all the honesty he has in these kinds of videos. All of the shadylockes, lets plays, fire emblem, duel links and other things. Also love seeing you wear the NF hat just at random times cause I love NF too. You're such a genuine person and try to be super honest not only with your friends but also with your viewers because you know that honesty with your community is the way to go. I always loved your vids because you wouldn't put out content that you didn't enjoy. You wanted to put out the content that you enjoyed because you knew that your viewers would enjoy the videos. Honestly, Nappy was the one who kept me interested in pokemon for the longest time, Shady, I have loved your content and Nappy got me into it with the soullinks. After I heard the first bit of news on day 1 of the "reveal" of Nappy, I waited for an explanation video from him and you. His was disappointing, and after seeing the person, the entertainer I thought I loved to watch, I realized the same thing you did, the person I admired so much was a figment of my imagination. He never really existed. People see what they want to see. Hear what they want to hear. Now that you've finally released a full explanation, I gotta say that I am happy you decided to. It makes me happy to know I haven't made the wrong decision, deciding not to support Nappy, and justify his actions in one way or another. The end of this video hit me like a wave, I came here from Nexus's video and I stayed because I genuinely enjoy your energy and your infectious smile. I loved the stuff you used to do with Nappy but I'm happy you are moving on from that part of your life. Your outlook on life and kind words are inspiring beyond what words can communicate and I can't wait to see where you go from here. Though the idea of you ending your channel even as a far off possibility is heartbreaking, the way you plan to do it is poetic and bittersweet. TW: Depression/self-harm discussed. TLDR: I found your soul links at a very dark time when I was 24. I'll be 30 this year. Thank you for basically everything. It doesnt mean much as a lurker but I'm so proud of you, and I wish you the best. I dont know a better place to put this, so be warned, this is gonna super personal but I dont know a better way to tell Shady all this so.......here it goooooooes. In December 2014, I had a major life change. I went from being a young wife, mother, and college student to a homeless combat vet over the span of a flight. I was blind sided with divorce papers after a very rough marriage, after being set on a solo trip to see my mom who was living with her boyfriend (who at this time was a stranger to me.) I thought I was staying for 2 weeks, and fly home to my husband and 18 month old baby by Christmas. 10pm, I land in my town and my mom and best friend (BFF) meet me there. That's when they tell me I am not going home. I no could no longer see my son, and all of my belongings are gone. I literally had the clothes on my back, and whatever was in my suitcase. I was living on my mom's boyfriend's couch (who again is a literal stranger to me at this point) I went on a bender. A really really bad bender. The first 3 months of 2015 are still a mystery to me and I am very lucky to not have died from alcohol poisoning, self-harm, or back-alley beat down. But the important bit is your soul link videos are the only thing I remember. BFF was my rock through all this and we would hang out once a week to just get me out and keep me sane, and introduced me your soul link videos. And I thought it was pretty cool, so when I learned you guys did a series of it, I binged. Every time you finished a soullink, I would go back to the very first red/blue episode and watch them all again. When you guys announced a new soul link was coming up, I would rewatch all the soul link videos again. If i ever had RUclips on there was a 95% chance i was playing one of your soul link videos. For 4 years straight, you two were consistently playing most if not all the time I was on youtube. It was to the point where I would use soul link as a lullaby. There was only one other thing that I could play forever; sleep so soundly, and that thing got me through my time in Afghanistan. Your voices became a huge part of my rehabilitation. I got job at the time working for a great company (I am now retired), moved into an apartment with my BFF (we now living in our own homes), reesrablished connection with my now 7 year old (we Skype regularly and I am visiting as often as I can), have had a stable healthy rationship with my current Significant Other. You and what's his face got me through one of the darkest times in my life and when all that shit when down I was absolutely devastated. You both had become some intertwined in my daily routine that I just broke down and wept. I remember me and BFF being completely blindsided by the accusations, and then the evidence... we both just broke all contact for a while. So it's very difficult for me personally to watch your videos because of that association. But I support you on Patreon, lurk in your twitch streams, and follow your twitter, so I dont feel too bad for not watching. Over all just.....thank you man. For being who you are. For being who I needed at the time, and for being just an incredible human being in general. I love seeing updates about your family, and want nothing more than to see you happy and succeeding. I wrote a lot here without realizing, it was sort of a mind dump as well, so forgive me if I seem a little scatterbrained, but I feel that this is an appropriate place to voice myself, from a sub/previously close member to a couple people involved in this. First, I'm glad to see you back. Instantly I got a chuckle and a smile at seeing the old hair again (which looks nice btw) and to answer the question about content, I think the last thing I saw was at least several months ago when you had started FE:3H. I wanted to catch up, but with myself being in college now, it was difficult to find time in between studies and volunteering to watch, though I loved it when I could. Hearing about your patreon, when this pandemic thing finally begins to diminish, I'm definitely going to be looking to try to make that investment. Everything positive at the start really boosted my mood and I was really happy to hear that. But now for the negative part, which isn't directed at you at all, it's more of just me voicing myself. I've been a part of this community for... I'd say at least 5 years, maybe more. And during this time, I had integrated myself into the community quite well I'd say. I made a lot of friends, was really active on discord servers and whatnot, getting to even meet some of the people whose content I had watched and loved, and everything was going great. It was about... I believe 2016 when I had first started picking up on stuff. Inflections in speech, the pathings away from certain topics, and being the positive and active member I was, I got curious. So I started asking around, and eventually, new information had came into my radar. And... well like the Penguinn above, I wanted to take the time to develop my own thoughts and understand it all for myself. Things began to click soon after, as my suspicions and the evidence suddenly began to line up as history began to slowly repeat itself. At that time... it was probably 2017 nearly 2018? I slowly and slowly distanced myself away from everything after realizing what had happened, but I was afraid to speak out. I wasn't sure how this would effect everything, and as a viewer, I didn't want a lot of content that I watched to go away, which was selfish on my part, but I was young (compared to now at least) and I didn't know any better. For the next several months, I stayed away from everything. Videos on the occasion, sure, but no discord, tore myself away from my friends (even if they were on my side as well), and just distanced myself altogether. I had completely forgotten about it until late night on March 31st, 2019. I was about to go to sleep, and then I was told to check twitter by some of my other friends. And that's when this all happened. The info finally came out, videos were being made, positions were being taken, and I breathed a sigh of relief after I didn't entirely feel the need to stand back anymore. I reached out to my old friends again, trying to make sure everyone was okay, but it seemed like they were all happy as well as they could breathe a sigh of relief. Of course, it didn't entirely sit well with me, I still was in awe about how everything was changing, and didn't even know what to say. It was like all of the feelings I had experienced had came back, and it was... well scary to say the least. But bringing it to a slightly more positive light, I got over it. I didn't let it effect me for too long, and I started supporting people in the community again, and everything was resolved, at least on my end, nicely. So now, in the present day, I watched this video, and the amount of times I felt myself smile, and feel a breath of fresh air about the situation (Ironic considering I'm sorta locked indoors atm) it felt great. It feels great to see that the person whom I noticed early on in my visit to the pokemon community, the person who always had put a smile on my face with his content, was able to get through the dark times, and make the tough decisions that I also did something similar to, and both of us were still able to come out with a smile and not let it effect our bottom line. I know that the severity of it all wasn't as heavy on my end as it might have been for Shady, so I'm not trying to compare our situations at all, heavens no. But I'm just glad that the Top Tier Penguin is doing great, and I'm always happy to show my appreciation on a video. Shady, I would like to apologize. I remember watching all of the videos when everything first happened with nappy. I remember wanting answers and wanting to know your thoughts. I never thought to think how it would affect you. I'm sorry that you are still having to suffer through this a year after it came out.
shady a bit of advice for when you start playing zero: - at the start you will be given 22 packs after the tutorial - open these immediately - if you dont get atleast 6 RRR cards then delete your user data and open the packs again - this is called rerolling for cards - once you have atleast 6 RRR, the game will be very enjoyable in all aspects ALSO good to see you happy again and doing what you love

You are legitimately one of the nicest guys on RUclips. The fact that you were willing to give nappy a chance to redeem himself when others would have immediately ceased contact with him says volumes about your character. We need more people like you in the world.
I personally think he doesn't deserve a second chance as someone who's dealt with harassment from people in the gay community to the point where i had 1 guy I used to play counter strike with track me down and find me in person knowing im a straight guy and I cut contact and he still went to that extent is an incredibly TERRIFYING thing.
Shady; I'm sorry to hear that the "Nappy" situation affected you and everyone involved. Everyone's lives and plans getting messed up over a situation like that is heartbreaking to all. I'm glad to hear that you were there for Nappy. Yes, wishing for him to get help without saying it is selfish; but with what you are aware of, that's the best you can hope for. The only other thing you could hope for is that it's not true, but possibly hasn't got "the receipts"; like how ProJared had a similar situation months later after Nappy's situation, and made a hell of a comeback which re-iterated what you said here: "you don't have the whole story; it's not your business". I just wished Nappy could've made a comeback as well, but he's just...drifting back, and he seems the same as he was in his videos prior, albeit slightly subdued; either due to the effects of the situation lingering, or due to being rusty on not making content for a while. He actually mentioned the situation and his absence (very loosely) during his first Sword livestream which is uploaded to RUclips, but nothing of substance. At least the chat and most comments are positive? People don't seem so quick to judge people on situations like this after the "ProJared" situation which happened a couple months after Nappy's situation. I will miss the soul-links as you said you would; but I'm glad that you have kept your half of those videos up, so we can remember the good times and relive those hype and best moments. I think you are the only one that hasn't affected both yours and Nappy's previous projects. I'm sad they won't return, but at least you have explained why. I recall Nappy also mentioned soul-links not returning in his livestream before starting Sword, so he is aware. I'm sorry you lost a friend, we've all lost a content creator & I hope he returns. I might check out his latest nuzlocke, see how I feel, as I've stuck around not only for hope, but to watch the content I've enjoyed in the past (like ProJared). I don't know the whole story, none of us seem to. I don't make judgements of my favourite content creators' personal life; it's not my business. I just watch for the content, the personality, editing, video creation and humor. For an example: Tear of Grace seems quite raunchy due to his humor; but I laugh at the jokes, the editing and his personality. I don't know how he is in his personal life, it's not my business unless it becomes so. I can mostly tell how people are, and when Nappy announces at the start of every project that he "is loud and boisterous" he seems to be that; loud and basey, full of energy and doesn't hold back with swearing; but was a tad much. But I didn't mind; it was hype, and you were the perfect foil for soul-links; again full of energy, your range of emotions complimented and fueled his own loudness which raised the hype, and it made for some amazing moments. The banter dynamic was top-tier which always had me laughing! I'm probably not helping here saying positives about the past, but I think you get what I mean. I see you as an honest real man who wants to have a good time. I saw Nappy as a hyperactive dude who also wants to have a good time. And despite what he has or hasn't done; I think that's why he has returned, he misses that. You do too. We all do; otherwise we all wouldn't be so devastated, hurt, angry and/or upset about the whole thing. I'm sorry your development plans where halted due to the "situation" the whole world is in right now; I just got a full-time job with no job to actually do! Screwed up my plans in my personal life (sharing it, extremely minor but relatable). Congrats on the 2nd child, saw the posts on Twitter! I do miss those LPs you did on ShadyGaming, like the Kingdom Hearts playthroughs and hoped for KH2, and I'm sorry Pokemon now hurts to play in general (and especially on this channel) due to the reception of Gen 8 and the "Nappy" situation. At least we know he is still there and creating videos again. But when you mentioned about "closing the book" as in "the end of this channel" that made me a bit sad. I can see why, but it's a hard thing for both content creator and viewer to experience. Unless you end it with a bang, like as you mentioned "reacting to your first video on the channel"; it comes full-circle, poetic. People will be mad, there's always a few; but keep the communication channels open. Let him reach to you, and talk things out; he's bound to see this if you didn't notify him prior. The person we knew is in there somewhere...I'd like to hope. (Dang, this was a long post. Wanted to make sure I said everything how I wanted to. Always second-guess myself. Context!)

My brother and I both watch Shady and because I never really had a good big brother figure like my little brother Shady is about the closest thing I can think of. i watches your road to ranked videos back in xy. you actually got me into competitive pokemon, i still hold respect for pokemon like mamoswine, rotom, aegislash, weezing, and crawdaunt because of you. i saw your soul silver egglocke, your soul link with nappy, dungeon defenders on nappys second channel, the free for alls you participated in, lumiose station, twitch plays pokemon streams. I was just catching up on this information, i just watched nexus video. as well as nappys re-uploaded stream. sucks that people i idolized and grew up with turned out to end up in such a way. i love that the memories are there, but the fact that we'll never have that again hurts. and accepting that hurts more.

I watched the whole thing through and if im honest i wish it was longer, you have said in the past that some of your fans favorite videos are your update videos and i think i might be one of them. Just something about hearing thoughts coming from a smart and down to earth guy mixed with having so much compassion for others but wanting to follow your own passions says a lot. You also didnt follow the crowd when everyone abandoned nappy and that says a lot too. Im a young adult now but hopefully i can grow to be someone as passionate as you. I've always loved Pokemon. And back in 2014 I was 15 years old. Struggling with home life and stress of school. I went looking for something fun to enjoy where i can just watch someone play some of my favourite games. That was your channel. The first video I watched was your fire red shadylocke. I had a gba emulator and leaf green and I said to my partner "you don't have to like Pokemon, but you have to do this with me" and since discovering your channel not only does he like Pokemon we both find enjoyment playing our own shadylockes and rival Lockes. I'm so sorry what you've been through with this situation and the continuous RUclips situation. Your videos still appear on my suggestions and I'm so grateful for it. All I have to say after that is thank you. Thank you for your time and your commitment. Hey shady. I'm one of those people that hasn't seen a lot of you since FEH, but I wanted to comment you anyway. I've been watching your stuff since the leaf green shadylocke. I have so many fond memories of watching your stuff, the heartbreak and triumph that went with it. And then... UCL happened. You playing UCL, and also wifi battles was such a huge influence for me getting into competitive pokemon. UCL seemed so much fun, and I wished one day that maybe I'd be able to play draft. A few years later and yesterday I was in the finals in a league with some of the greatest and most friendly players I have ever played with, and am also good friends with people in the UU community. I've always appreciated how honest of a person you are. And you really showed that perfectly here. You said exactly what happened with Nappy, what you were comfortable with sharing, why you stuck around and why you left. I didn't even watch this video for the Nappy situation, but I'm glad I did. Nappy may not of been who you thought he was, but you are what I thought you were. You have been such an inspiration and role model in my life. Even though I can't pretend like I watch you a lot anymore, especially now that I don't have the time I once did, I will never forget you and this channel. So many memories of your playthroughs and battles will always stay with me. To be honest Shady I haven't really been watching your content regularly in about 5 years, but I still hop on every now and again to see how you're doing and to catch up. Over the years I've bought a couple shirts, and been a proud member of the Shadypeople whenever anyone asks me who my favourite youtuber is. The reason I don't watch is pretty much because i only watch videos relating to whatever I'm interested in at the time. If I'm taking a 3 month break from pokemon, I'm not gonna be watching let's plays. I know that sucks for you, so to be honest I probably will join Patreon solely to support your content. You chose to stay professional even when people were making accusations about you and the situation despite how little they actually knew. When in reality, the fact that you were one of the only people to not post and try and make money off of the situation as it was happening, should speak volumes. I just love how genuine you are as a person with your reactions, and how you just act as a person with your overall vibe, It was the reason I was drawn to your content. I know you might say that I don't have to, but I want to say that I'm sorry because around the time smash 3ds and oras came out I would just scroll passed your videos, contributing toward your dead sub count and it doesn't feel right that this is the video that made me remember what I initially liked about you and the fact that I just started moving passed your videos as seemingly easily as I did aside from the soul link series. They say things happen for a reason, about 5 years ago when I was introduced to shady from Nappy's channel, I didn't expect to be following to this day. I don't watch every episode of every shady LP (except FE3H) but Ive always appreciated what he's done. 5 years later I can say that I have the deepest respect for shady as a content creator, and as a person. Shady, I only recently stumbled onto your channel when I regained interest in the Fire Emblem series. I had started a playthrough when the game came out, but stopped fairly early on. Then I found your series and it absolutely got me through the game! It pushed me to want to complete each chapter so I could go and watch your video and see your reactions during that chapter! With that said, I of course was not aware of any of this and I can't imagine going through any of that and coming through the other side. When I was in 6th grade I found shadypenguinn. I was a casual Pokémon player and was instantly hooked on the competitive scene. I came for the information but stayed for the amazing family that is the shady people. I loved watching every play through ( my favorite being the soul silver egglocke) and hearing your thoughts through out every competitive battle. When I was dealing with outside bullies, family and friends dying, and just dealing with life I knew I could come to this channel and escape. Two quotes that really hit me about the whole Nappy situation "My friend that I knew doesnt exist" and ". . . Because. . .it hurts." Because to me the content creator that I thought I knew doesnt exist and it does hurt. Honestly the twitlonger you did was more than enough information for me but hearing all this more is nice to know all that. And people that have been searching for information from you may have been seeking what I sought when you did the twitlonger. Which is that with you being the closest to him but also with you being the most honest and trustworthy source in the community. As for the future I understand that you dont want to do Pokemon right now. Probabaly wont want to for a long while but I do hope that someday in the future you can go back to Pokemon. The Pokemon community will always be waiting for you. Everyone still talks about you and is inspired by all you've done. I took two months off from RUclips for a lot of reasons, which early on led to me learning that our channel is screwed in the RUclips algorithm. This is because of the variety of games I've played, our dead subs, and some other smaller reasons. This led to the break being longer than I originall wanted.
My position in the Pokemon community has changed. The Pokemon community was my friends, which aren't really all that close anymore, which makes uploading Pokemon way less appealing, which leads to worse content.
I talk for a very long time about the Nappy situation. I left a couple things out, but I told him a long time ago that if he came back, I'd have to address the situation. So between his return, and information I shared with someone getting spread around, this talk was inevitable.
I've been doing other things! DnD Presents, which is currently on hold with the state of the world, and as soon as I have an update, you'll see it on twitter! I'm sure this will get lost in the thousands of comments but Shady I've always viewed you as a role model from my years on RUclips and still do to this day. Meeting you at PAX was a pleasure and hopefully one day can cross paths again and be able to chat a little more. I relate to so much that you've spoken over the past several years. I know you aren't as connected to the Pokemon Community anymore, but from someone who is, so many people still look up to you whether or not you upload or feel disconnected. Obviously your family is your priority and I respect that so much. One day I'd love to be able to talk more and gain even knowledge from someone who I've looked up to and relate too. Even gain father advice as my wife and I haven't crossed that path yet but she seems more prepared than me 😂 Regardless of what the future holds, I wish you nothing but the best and just wanted to remind you on the positive impact you made on even the current Pokemon community!
Total side note, I live in country side of Georgia and there's a reason I always try to convince Vinny to move out of Long Island lol. It's beautiful down here, MUCH CHEAPER as I've visited up there a few times, and just a amazing place to grow a family. It's so funny hearing you talk about moving to somewhere like North Carolina because that's why I have told so many people to live around this area. Sad, because what I thought I was doing in that moment sharing that information about you in my video(s) regarding the situation was the right thing cause juss like you everybody involved in the group has been borderline harassed about the same things you have and I just wanted it to end. After seeing this video I understand that is WASN'T my place until you or anybody else wanted to speak on it and that's your right to speak your side of the story of a BIG narrative that people continue to spin. I see thru that tho, i hurt a longtime friend, a brother of mine and I apologize. THOUGH, it hurts to know that the reason why there wasn't a push towards your wedding was because everybody felt like we all grew apart when I really juss wanted to go, I think me and nexus dead ass were really trying to get everybody to go LMAO. The wisest piece of wisdom I have ever heard is that broken trust is like a shattered glass. You can gather all the pieces and glue it back together, it may even hold water again, but it'll never be the same glass. There was no right or wrong in your situation and we as the audience still don't know a lot, but if you left your line open to a friend in need, regardless of what happened, until you could move on and decide a verdict for yourself, you're already setting a great example for others. I remember you saying about 2 years when you started slowing down, “if you’re not growing, you’re dying” I remember finding you in 2014 and being a freshman, and watching your videos through hs excited for every new soul link, and always checking in during college. Now im a loan officer at a bank for auto loans, done with college, and this video reminded me of playing Pokemmo in hs and playing with my group of online friends that i spent thousands of hours and competitive pokemong got me into competitive csgo in college, and got super close to playing on a team in seattle for mt dew league, but I instead moved on and focused on school and i still have a few of those friends on fb and I am extremely close to them. Thank you for getting me into the competitive pokemon scene and honestly completely making a mark in my life, the impact you have on the future content creators and people of this world is alot bigger than you think :), because I was in a not so great place when i found this channel and competitive Pokémon and online pokemon

Shady, I've been watching you on RUclips for 7 years. Around the time that my wife and I got back into Pokemon and I started looking up Poketubers on RUclips. We ended up finding this guy that had a magnificent beard and awesome hair and pretty the best personality I've ever seen on this platform, next to Chuggaconroy. You inspired me to get back into game and into the competitive aspect of the game along with inspiring me to jump on the platform myself. So I can say this completely and wholeheartedly...you are my favorite RUclipsr. Your integrity has always been something that I can you haven't faltered on and I know that during that time with Nappy was like a knife being stabbed in your heart due to your friendship and seeing how it affect those within your circle. I've seen it happen in mine as well. Thank you for your authenticity on the matter when it comes to your chapter in the story, it does bring clarity in some aspects because of the betrayal that the community felt from Nappy doing what he did. I also understand keeping those lines of communication open because I have done the same, because I truly want to believe that people will seek and aim to better themselves and get help.

I relate to that pain on such a deep level. Friend ditched me for drugs who I knew for 10+ years, other friend just ghosted me and all my other friends.
Drugs destroy people and would say changes what a person use to be if they don't get help . I would say this is a little different because this is something nappy is and despite their friendship it a part of him he wasn't going share so you thought you knew him but you never really do know someone at end of day. I imagine but not to the same extent it like being a wife of rapist or something extreme , a side of them they never showed to their wife etc

I watched you and so many of the other “poketubers” growing up and after years and years it’s nice to see some consistency. You have been who you are since I started watching you 5-6 years ago, and I see you and hear you today as the same respectable, kind, and inspiring man I did back then. I was never one to buy merch but I remember the one thing I did get was one of your shirts years ago. It’s easy to see now why I was so drawn to you! I can’t express my condolences for this whole situation in any good way and I know I’m just another person out of thousands who have watched you over the years, but keep your head up and stay strong man. I completely agree with that. I started watching Shady back in 2016 because my friend suggested him to me and I absolutely fell in love with him and the content that he made. I may not watch him as much now, but he introduced me to many other youtubers (specifically Joey) who I've been watching as of recently. I love how ambitious Shady is to try new things and all the honesty he has in these kinds of videos. All of the shadylockes, lets plays, fire emblem, duel links and other things. Also love seeing you wear the NF hat just at random times cause I love NF too. You're such a genuine person and try to be super honest not only with your friends but also with your viewers because you know that honesty with your community is the way to go. I always loved your vids because you wouldn't put out content that you didn't enjoy. You wanted to put out the content that you enjoyed because you knew that your viewers would enjoy the videos. Thank you so much for your content and after this I kinda wanna get back into watching your videos because I forgot how much I love this community.

Honestly, Nappy was the one who kept me interested in pokemon for the longest time, Shady, I have loved your content and Nappy got me into it with the soullinks. After I heard the first bit of news on day 1 of the "reveal" of Nappy, I waited for an explanation video from him and you. His was disappointing, and after seeing the person, the entertainer I thought I loved to watch, I realized the same thing you did, the person I admired so much was a figment of my imagination. He never really existed. People see what they want to see. Hear what they want to hear.
Now that you've finally released a full explanation, I gotta say that I am happy you decided to. It makes me happy to know I haven't made the wrong decision, deciding not to support Nappy, and justify his actions in one way or another. I am just a kid after all, it was more like a 50/50 chance that either side was lying.

Though the idea of you ending your channel even as a far off possibility is heartbreaking, the way you plan to do it is poetic and bittersweet. I dont know a better place to put this, so be warned, this is gonna super personal but I dont know a better way to tell Shady all this so.......here it goooooooes.
In December 2014, I had a major life change. I went from being a young wife, mother, and college student to a homeless combat vet over the span of a flight. I was blind sided with divorce papers after a very rough marriage, after being set on a solo trip to see my mom who was living with her boyfriend (who at this time was a stranger to me.)
I thought I was staying for 2 weeks, and fly home to my husband and 18 month old baby by Christmas. 10pm, I land in my town and my mom and best friend (BFF) meet me there. That's when they tell me I am not going home. I no could no longer see my son, and all of my belongings are gone. I literally had the clothes on my back, and whatever was in my suitcase. I was living on my mom's boyfriend's couch (who again is a literal stranger to me at this point) I went on a bender. A really really bad bender. The first 3 months of 2015 are still a mystery to me and I am very lucky to not have died from alcohol poisoning, self-harm, or back-alley beat down.
But the important bit is your soul link videos are the only thing I remember. BFF was my rock through all this and we would hang out once a week to just get me out and keep me sane, and introduced me your soul link videos. And I thought it was pretty cool, so when I learned you guys did a series of it, I binged. Every time you finished a soullink, I would go back to the very first red/blue episode and watch them all again. When you guys announced a new soul link was coming up, I would rewatch all the soul link videos again. If i ever had RUclips on there was a 95% chance i was playing one of your soul link videos.
For 4 years straight, you two were consistently playing most if not all the time I was on youtube. It was to the point where I would use soul link as a lullaby. There was only one other thing that I could play forever; sleep so soundly, and that thing got me through my time in Afghanistan.
Your voices became a huge part of my rehabilitation. I got job at the time working for a great company (I am now retired), moved into an apartment with my BFF (we now living in our own homes), reesrablished connection with my now 7 year old (we Skype regularly and I am visiting as often as I can), have had a stable healthy rationship with my current Significant Other.
You and what's his face got me through one of the darkest times in my life and when all that shit when down I was absolutely devastated. You both had become some intertwined in my daily routine that I just broke down and wept. I remember me and BFF being completely blindsided by the accusations, and then the evidence... we both just broke all contact for a while. So it's very difficult for me personally to watch your videos because of that association. But I support you on Patreon, lurk in your twitch streams, and follow your twitter, so I dont feel too bad for not watching.
Over all just.....thank you man. For being who you are. For being who I needed at the time, and for being just an incredible human being in general. I love seeing updates about your family, and want nothing more than to see you happy and succeeding. Thank you.

I wrote a lot here without realizing, it was sort of a mind dump as well, so forgive me if I seem a little scatterbrained, but I feel that this is an appropriate place to voice myself, from a sub/previously close member to a couple people involved in this.
First, I'm glad to see you back. Instantly I got a chuckle and a smile at seeing the old hair again (which looks nice btw) and to answer the question about content, I think the last thing I saw was at least several months ago when you had started FE:3H. I wanted to catch up, but with myself being in college now, it was difficult to find time in between studies and volunteering to watch, though I loved it when I could. Hearing about your patreon, when this pandemic thing finally begins to diminish, I'm definitely going to be looking to try to make that investment. Everything positive at the start really boosted my mood and I was really happy to hear that.
But now for the negative part, which isn't directed at you at all, it's more of just me voicing myself.
I've been a part of this community for... I'd say at least 5 years, maybe more. And during this time, I had integrated myself into the community quite well I'd say. I made a lot of friends, was really active on discord servers and whatnot, getting to even meet some of the people whose content I had watched and loved, and everything was going great. It was about... I believe 2016 when I had first started picking up on stuff. Inflections in speech, the pathings away from certain topics, and being the positive and active member I was, I got curious. So I started asking around, and eventually, new information had came into my radar. And... well like the Penguinn above, I wanted to take the time to develop my own thoughts and understand it all for myself. Things began to click soon after, as my suspicions and the evidence suddenly began to line up as history began to slowly repeat itself. At that time... it was probably 2017 nearly 2018? I slowly and slowly distanced myself away from everything after realizing what had happened, but I was afraid to speak out. I wasn't sure how this would effect everything, and as a viewer, I didn't want a lot of content that I watched to go away, which was selfish on my part, but I was young (compared to now at least) and I didn't know any better. For the next several months, I stayed away from everything. Videos on the occasion, sure, but no discord, tore myself away from my friends (even if they were on my side as well), and just distanced myself altogether. I had completely forgotten about it until late night on March 31st, 2019. I was about to go to sleep, and then I was told to check twitter by some of my other friends. And that's when this all happened. The info finally came out, videos were being made, positions were being taken, and I breathed a sigh of relief after I didn't entirely feel the need to stand back anymore. I reached out to my old friends again, trying to make sure everyone was okay, but it seemed like they were all happy as well as they could breathe a sigh of relief. Of course, it didn't entirely sit well with me, I still was in awe about how everything was changing, and didn't even know what to say. It was like all of the feelings I had experienced had came back, and it was... well scary to say the least. But bringing it to a slightly more positive light, I got over it. I didn't let it effect me for too long, and I started supporting people in the community again, and everything was resolved, at least on my end, nicely.
So now, in the present day, I watched this video, and the amount of times I felt myself smile, and feel a breath of fresh air about the situation (Ironic considering I'm sorta locked indoors atm) it felt great. It feels great to see that the person whom I noticed early on in my visit to the pokemon community, the person who always had put a smile on my face with his content, was able to get through the dark times, and make the tough decisions that I also did something similar to, and both of us were still able to come out with a smile and not let it effect our bottom line. I know that the severity of it all wasn't as heavy on my end as it might have been for Shady, so I'm not trying to compare our situations at all, heavens no. But I'm just glad that the Top Tier Penguin is doing great, and I'm always happy to show my appreciation on a video.

shady a bit of advice for when you start playing zero:
- at the start you will be given 22 packs after the tutorial
- open these immediately
- if you dont get atleast 6 RRR cards then delete your user data and open the packs again
- this is called rerolling for cards
- once you have atleast 6 RRR, the game will be very enjoyable in all aspects

You are legitimately one of the nicest guys on RUclips. The fact that you were willing to give nappy a chance to redeem himself when others would have immediately ceased contact with him says volumes about your character. We need more people like you in the world.
I personally think he doesn't deserve a second chance as someone who's dealt with harassment from people in the gay community to the point where i had 1 guy I used to play counter strike with track me down and find me in person knowing im a straight guy and I cut contact and he still went to that extent is an incredibly TERRIFYING thing.
Shady; I'm sorry to hear that the "Nappy" situation affected you and everyone involved. Everyone's lives and plans getting messed up over a situation like that is heartbreaking to all. I'm glad to hear that you were there for Nappy. Yes, wishing for him to get help without saying it is selfish; but with what you are aware of, that's the best you can hope for. The only other thing you could hope for is that it's not true, but possibly hasn't got "the receipts"; like how ProJared had a similar situation months later after Nappy's situation, and made a hell of a comeback which re-iterated what you said here: "you don't have the whole story; it's not your business". I just wished Nappy could've made a comeback as well, but he's just...drifting back, and he seems the same as he was in his videos prior, albeit slightly subdued; either due to the effects of the situation lingering, or due to being rusty on not making content for a while. He actually mentioned the situation and his absence (very loosely) during his first Sword livestream which is uploaded to RUclips, but nothing of substance. At least the chat and most comments are positive? People don't seem so quick to judge people on situations like this after the "ProJared" situation which happened a couple months after Nappy's situation.
I will miss the soul-links as you said you would; but I'm glad that you have kept your half of those videos up, so we can remember the good times and relive those hype and best moments. I think you are the only one that hasn't affected both yours and Nappy's previous projects. I'm sad they won't return, but at least you have explained why. I recall Nappy also mentioned soul-links not returning in his livestream before starting Sword, so he is aware. I'm sorry you lost a friend, we've all lost a content creator & I hope he returns. I might check out his latest nuzlocke, see how I feel, as I've stuck around not only for hope, but to watch the content I've enjoyed in the past (like ProJared).
I don't know the whole story, none of us seem to. I don't make judgements of my favourite content creators' personal life; it's not my business. I just watch for the content, the personality, editing, video creation and humor. For an example: Tear of Grace seems quite raunchy due to his humor; but I laugh at the jokes, the editing and his personality. I don't know how he is in his personal life, it's not my business unless it becomes so.
I can mostly tell how people are, and when Nappy announces at the start of every project that he "is loud and boisterous" he seems to be that; loud and basey, full of energy and doesn't hold back with swearing; but was a tad much. But I didn't mind; it was hype, and you were the perfect foil for soul-links; again full of energy, your range of emotions complimented and fueled his own loudness which raised the hype, and it made for some amazing moments. The banter dynamic was top-tier which always had me laughing! I'm probably not helping here saying positives about the past, but I think you get what I mean. I see you as an honest real man who wants to have a good time. I saw Nappy as a hyperactive dude who also wants to have a good time. And despite what he has or hasn't done; I think that's why he has returned, he misses that. You do too. We all do; otherwise we all wouldn't be so devastated, hurt, angry and/or upset about the whole thing.
I'm sorry your development plans where halted due to the "situation" the whole world is in right now; I just got a full-time job with no job to actually do! Screwed up my plans in my personal life (sharing it, extremely minor but relatable). Congrats on the 2nd child, saw the posts on Twitter! I do miss those LPs you did on ShadyGaming, like the Kingdom Hearts playthroughs and hoped for KH2, and I'm sorry Pokemon now hurts to play in general (and especially on this channel) due to the reception of Gen 8 and the "Nappy" situation. At least we know he is still there and creating videos again. But when you mentioned about "closing the book" as in "the end of this channel" that made me a bit sad. I can see why, but it's a hard thing for both content creator and viewer to experience. Unless you end it with a bang, like as you mentioned "reacting to your first video on the channel"; it comes full-circle, poetic.
People will be mad, there's always a few; but keep the communication channels open. Let him reach to you, and talk things out; he's bound to see this if you didn't notify him prior. The person we knew is in there somewhere...I'd like to hope.

My brother and I both watch Shady and because I never really had a good big brother figure like my little brother Shady is about the closest thing I can think of. i watches your road to ranked videos back in xy. you actually got me into competitive pokemon, i still hold respect for pokemon like mamoswine, rotom, aegislash, weezing, and crawdaunt because of you. i saw your soul silver egglocke, your soul link with nappy, dungeon defenders on nappys second channel, the free for alls you participated in, lumiose station, twitch plays pokemon streams. I was just catching up on this information, i just watched nexus video. as well as nappys re-uploaded stream. sucks that people i idolized and grew up with turned out to end up in such a way. i love that the memories are there, but the fact that we'll never have that again hurts. and accepting that hurts more.

I watched the whole thing through and if im honest i wish it was longer, you have said in the past that some of your fans favorite videos are your update videos and i think i might be one of them. Just something about hearing thoughts coming from a smart and down to earth guy mixed with having so much compassion for others but wanting to follow your own passions says a lot. You also didnt follow the crowd when everyone abandoned nappy and that says a lot too. Im a young adult now but hopefully i can grow to be someone as passionate as you. Ive been around since you lived at your parents with 2 videos coming my way, the shady lady on your bed and a full jug of water from your job with Claudia and IceIceBaby crushing it in the Road to Ranked series. I've always loved Pokemon. And back in 2014 I was 15 years old. Struggling with home life and stress of school. I went looking for something fun to enjoy where i can just watch someone play some of my favourite games.
That was your channel. The first video I watched was your fire red shadylocke. I had a gba emulator and leaf green and I said to my partner "you don't have to like Pokemon, but you have to do this with me" and since discovering your channel not only does he like Pokemon we both find enjoyment playing our own shadylockes and rival Lockes.
I'm so sorry what you've been through with this situation and the continuous RUclips situation. Your videos still appear on my suggestions and I'm so grateful for it.

Hey shady. I'm one of those people that hasn't seen a lot of you since FEH, but I wanted to comment you anyway.
I've been watching your stuff since the leaf green shadylocke. I have so many fond memories of watching your stuff, the heartbreak and triumph that went with it. And then... UCL happened.
You playing UCL, and also wifi battles was such a huge influence for me getting into competitive pokemon. UCL seemed so much fun, and I wished one day that maybe I'd be able to play draft. A few years later and yesterday I was in the finals in a league with some of the greatest and most friendly players I have ever played with, and am also good friends with people in the UU community.
I've always appreciated how honest of a person you are. And you really showed that perfectly here. You said exactly what happened with Nappy, what you were comfortable with sharing, why you stuck around and why you left. I didn't even watch this video for the Nappy situation, but I'm glad I did. Nappy may not of been who you thought he was, but you are what I thought you were.
You have been such an inspiration and role model in my life. Even though I can't pretend like I watch you a lot anymore, especially now that I don't have the time I once did, I will never forget you and this channel. So many memories of your playthroughs and battles will always stay with me. Hey Shady, yes - this came right to the front of my feed, don't remember seeing anything since sword and shield. Back in the day, a lot of us came originally for Pokemon and stayed for your personality. I'm honestly not into your other content, but hearing you in these update videos brings back a lot of nostalgia and positivity.
Something to consider: you have such a mature, positive view of life that I think so many in this world could benefit from. I would love to see you have a vlog of life advice, or philosophical topics, or relationship advice - like: what would shady do? You have something so few youtubers have - being both genuine and easy to listen to.

To be honest Shady I haven't really been watching your content regularly in about 5 years, but I still hop on every now and again to see how you're doing and to catch up. Over the years I've bought a couple shirts, and been a proud member of the Shadypeople whenever anyone asks me who my favourite youtuber is. The reason I don't watch is pretty much because i only watch videos relating to whatever I'm interested in at the time. If I'm taking a 3 month break from pokemon, I'm not gonna be watching let's plays. I know that sucks for you, so to be honest I probably will join Patreon solely to support your content. Though I may not watch everything I would be devastated if you stopped making content entirely. You are a huge inspiration to me and many others to make content so please don't stop doing that. First of all, Shady, thank you for sharing in an open and vulnerable way with us. I can imagine that took some courage knowing it would possibly alienate people away from you and your content. Obviously, I don’t know you nor do you know me but I have been watching your content for some years now. Thanks for always moving and acting with a certain amount of poise and tact that is rare not only online but in life in general.
I appreciate everything you had to say about the relationship with your friend. People will always jump to conclusions and pass judgment even when they don’t know the full story. You chose to stay professional even when people were making accusations about you and the situation despite how little they actually knew. When in reality, the fact that you were one of the only people to not post and try and make money off of the situation as it was happening, should speak volumes. I saw a lot of poke tubers who weren’t even directly associated rehash the same points without adding anything to the conversation as a means to just get clicks and views and it saddened me. Thank you for your professionalism in a community that is amazing but often feels filled and plagued by petty drama.

When I first started REALLY getting into competitive Pokemon, is when I found your channel back in 2013. I would literally spend my days off watching your videos. You have such a solid gift for content creation and ultimately what makes it anazing is your drive, passion, and personality! Your vulnerability by letting us into your personal life is so sick!
I think you handled the Nappy situation as well as you could have. You kept the lines of communication open and pretty much what I gathered from this video is the ball is in his court. Thank you for speaking out on this and letting us know what’s going through your head. This really did bring some closure to it. I hope that maybe in the future we’ll see something happen🤷🏻♂️ but I won’t hold my breath.

I Have been following you on and off since 2013/14 and man how you have grown and its not just the beard I am talking about XD.

collection, but form what I have seen over the years I can say that you have grown into a person that tries to find a balance
between work and family whilst having fun and without trying to intentionally harm anyone or anyhting physically or mentally.

I been around since the early days way back when you used to ask us if your FaceCam placement was okay haha. I just love how genuine you are as a person with your reactions, and how you just act as a person with your overall vibe, It was the reason I was drawn to your content.
I know you might say that I don't have to, but I want to say that I'm sorry because around the time smash 3ds and oras came out I would just scroll passed your videos, contributing toward your dead sub count and it doesn't feel right that this is the video that made me remember what I initially liked about you and the fact that I just started moving passed your videos as seemingly easily as I did aside from the soul link series. They say things happen for a reason, about 5 years ago when I was introduced to shady from Nappy's channel, I didn't expect to be following to this day. I don't watch every episode of every shady LP (except FE3H) but Ive always appreciated what he's done. 5 years later I can say that I have the deepest respect for shady as a content creator, and as a person. Shady, I only recently stumbled onto your channel when I regained interest in the Fire Emblem series. I had started a playthrough when the game came out, but stopped fairly early on. Then I found your series and it absolutely got me through the game! It pushed me to want to complete each chapter so I could go and watch your video and see your reactions during that chapter!

When I was in 6th grade I found shadypenguinn. I was a casual Pokémon player and was instantly hooked on the competitive scene. I came for the information but stayed for the amazing family that is the shady people. I loved watching every play through ( my favorite being the soul silver egglocke) and hearing your thoughts through out every competitive battle. When I was dealing with outside bullies, family and friends dying, and just dealing with life I knew I could come to this channel and escape. I will never be able to thank you enough for that Shady, and I know there are so many people who will support you no matter what you do. Much love 🖤

Although I admit I stopped watching Three houses back at episode 20 or so due to personal stuff, I'm certainly planning on finishing the whole thing since I was so hyped up to see your genuine reactions to game events. Because to me the content creator that I thought I knew doesnt exist and it does hurt. Honestly the twitlonger you did was more than enough information for me but hearing all this more is nice to know all that. And people that have been searching for information from you may have been seeking what I sought when you did the twitlonger. Which is that with you being the closest to him but also with you being the most honest and trustworthy source in the community.
As for the future I understand that you dont want to do Pokemon right now. Probabaly wont want to for a long while but I do hope that someday in the future you can go back to Pokemon. The Pokemon community will always be waiting for you. Everyone still talks about you and is inspired by all you've done.
Last thing I'll talk about but I do not look forward to the end of this channel. I hope that you dont put an end to the channel anytime soon. Even if the channel lays dormant without content I would prefer to have the hope you'll come back eventually. Knowing it's over would honestly be disheartening I'd rather have months of void with some content about something you love here and there. The dead subscriber part was sad. I would fade in and out. I would listen to your fire emblem videos on my way home from work. I didn't watch your sword and shield videos because I didn't want any spoilers on the game lol my favorite let's play for sure was Pokemon insurgence. I played that game only because of you. I even tried to nuzlocke it and rage quit lol. So thank you for expanding my horizon on games I never would've known about without you.
