@@loredell i dont know if you are familiar but there are things called "samples" same "chord progression" this is why a lot of songs especially in pop you can play with the same 4 chords :) but that doesn't necessarily mean they copied it or plagiarized it

On top of the language aspect, having the utmost to do with their rapping being unlike any other. I believe, at least in terms of the groups that have been able to stand out from the crowded and oversaturated market, aka the few with the discernable 'it' factor, I guess you could say... They tend to have one other key factor that truly sets them apart from the west. Other than the individual members, unique gifts and natural talents that they HOPEFULLY have in terms of rap talent... is the ability TO SING.
Just look at stray kids... Changbin, Han, BangChan, Hyungin, and Felix. (Heck, Seungmin is also a great rapper! But technically, he's the opposite of what I'm talking about. He's a singer who can rap. That, I would argue, is going to be much more numerous the world over than a rapper who can sing. Lol) SPECIALLY 3RACHA, though... They truly just sweat talent, I swear. 😂 Because i would honestly argue that they have they have some of the most impressive talents when otncomes to being REAL HONEST TO GOODNESS RAPPERS. Now, unfortunately, we just don't have as much content to stack against this claim for BangChanas we do Changbin and Han. (Because SOMEBODY screwed up his confidence at one point, and we are STILL working on undoing that damage. 😒) However Changbin and Han, we have all the evidence in imaginable to lay claim for the sheer level of talent they have in their rapping ability on top of their ability to stand against anyone with that claim, as they have NEVER uttered a rap that they themselves didn't personally create.
As a ghostwriter within the Korean AND Western music industries, I can attest personally to the fact that there are an uncomfortably high number of Western rappers who CANNOT say the same.) Point it, they utilize truth vocal SKILL in order to deliver what they do how they do. If fact, of I'm being honest, they utilize their vocal skill a heck of a lot more in any given song.... than the majority of pop artists do in any given songs of theirs. (Particularly because whoever wrote it, unless it was written by a ghostwriter/producer as we do not create music without knowing who will perform it. As we do not write bs, we actually write complex pieces that require detailed knowledge of vocal ability.) However music written my people who then sell it to the artists after the fact, they tend to write music that have very little required skill in order tocwiden the range of potential clientele.
After all, they are primarily focused on 3 things... Having lyrics that tell some sort or story that is new and fresh/or are catchy yet still complex enough to make for a decent anthem, pairing it well with a catchy yet equally complex melody/topline, and having both factors pass the HOPEFULLY thorough database wide plagiarism comparison test. Unfortunately, many of these people only do such a test within the industry in which they hope to make the sale. This is why K-pop, for example, keeps getting in trouble for plagiarism in other countries. They only bothered to check it against registered songs within Korea. (In fact, quite often, they don't run this test at all because they either know they won't pass it. Or, they straight up didn't pass it and wrote it off as having a similarly that is either inconceivable in its potential to be problematic, or at least deemed it as being "Within the degree of what's arguable in today's saturated music index with it's obvious and unchangeable note and key limitations." Which means that their main goal is to put out music that will make people lots of money without requiring lots of talent.) Point is, this is causing the industry to be hemorrhaging music is not in any way representative of the artist OR their abilities. This includes genres that tend to be vocal heavy, as well as the ones heavy in rap, such as the hip-hop community.
Meanwhile, when it comes to artists such as Stray Kids... their music quite obviously paints a very different picture. As even their language caters nicely to the use of agility and technique, PARTICULARLY, when being utilized within rap style vocals. This is why melodic rap is so beloved in K-pop, yet the majority of fans who are new to K-pop don't even know what to call it. Haha.

I love people with an actual vocabulary for music and ears that function so much. Not that my own music related vocabulary is well developed, but hearing someone put into words what I’ve been thinking about Binnie’s rap (but not been able to concisely spell out) is such a pleasure. Praying you’ve analysed Superbowl English ver. Binnie’s bellowing speakers mic pop filter that’s absolutely horrid to learn but the most fun ever once you’ve learned it.
I think what I enjoyed and respect you for the most is your appreciation and respect for Asian languages and K-Pop!

Hi Teddy! You should check out all the SKZ solo performances from their concert in Osaka (part of their Japanese Dome Tour). Especially Changbins! (Another personal fave is Chans performance) not going to spoil any of it but they’re unreleased songs (Lino and IN performed their songs from maxident), Changbin’s is INSANE you’ll absolutely be blown away - his voice, stage presence and dance is so powerful! You’ll also be so impressed how they flow from one song to the next so seamlessly and the transition from Changbin’s solo to the next group song was amazing!

I agreeeee I love listening to kpop rap (especially skz's and Epik High's!!) cause of the Korean sounds and vowels flow so nicely and has a tinge of aggressiveness. Japanese rap has this clean sharpness it's also not bad but I prefer Korean rap I realized.. tho love Japanese vocals and slow songs more (grew up with jrock)

I have a question. You were angry and dissapoined that Hyunjin got only 7s in Rush Remix. But in his own group's song he got only 3,83s. The 2nd last person had 18s. The disappointment is even bigger because this is how his own groupmates treated him, but I don't see anyone angry about it. What are you gonna say about it, Teddy? 😢
felix in total overall their songs has the fewest lines. im not mad because all his lines have such a deep impact and often gives the special kick to a song.

It's not some kind of competition of who has worse, but if you want to make it one I can tell you that out of ALL Korean OT8 songs Stray Kids has ever made (112 at the time I checked) Hyunjin didn't have the most lines even once in ANY of their songs, while Felix had the most lines 6 times, including one title track.
i think if hyunjin really had a problem with the line distribution, he’d bring it up with 3RACHA and their team. it’s incredibly hard to give each person an equal amount of time, especially with at least 4 rappers in a rap-heavy group, and even then, the vocalists have to be worked into the song as well. the same can be said for hyunjin getting more centres/dance breaks than a lot of other members; skz work to the strengths of each member and that’s what makes them such a successful group.
this discourse about ‘mistreatment’ is not worthwhile at all as Stays, and just creates division within the fandom. let’s try and not assume the worst of people that we look up to and admire :)
