It’s a beautiful box. The lenticular cover is a nice touch. The contents are top notch as well. The replica album cover that holds the CDs is really cool. A good quality hardback book with great essays and track by track details. Love the included posters particularly the Mr Kite replica. Excellent. Now…the remix. It sounds good but I consider the remix to be like a novelty, a different way of hearing Pepper. I appreciate all the work Giles and Sam did it’s a great listen but I will still keep my 09 mix. Even the 09 mix is not the same as the original stereo mix. For instance I miss the stereo panning of John’s voice on Day in the Life. I’ve always liked those original stereo effects and wish that an original stereo mix had been included in the box. But all in all it’s a great box. Not perfect but I’m glad I have it.
I still think that presentation wise it remains the best. As an album I may like some of the others more, and I do appreciate some of the attempts on the others, but let'a be honest: none of them even came close. The remix yes, I think I agree. But will have to compare more attentively. What I do think though is that this more recent separation tech should allow for more interesting and somewhat stronger mixes. In Stereo of course. But then again... all this is personal. For the mixers and for us.
This is a piece of music history right there. Thanks for sharing the unboxing with us, and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the remastered tracks.
in the copy I have, on the Blu-ray disc, by the end of the song "Getting Better", the sound stops for 7 seconds and then the music does not play. Do you also have this problem?
@emseasz Just checked it myself. Only checked on PCM and Dolby True HD, but no error. Plays through 10:24 and onward until the end of the track with no issues. Thus my assumption is that either there is something on the disc itself that physically causes this error, or there is a manufacturing defect. Sorry. It is shitty especially given the price tag this had. 🙁
@@BurgundySkieshi, thanks for having checked. Fortunately, we have the same content on the DVD, in exactly the same LPCM stereo hi res format. Not sure why the DVD seems to be a little compressed on my oppo 105 eu when compared to blu ray pure audio. Do you have the same ? One more thing: both on blu ray and DVD, I have an audio choice between 3 formats, while on the blu ray back cover it is stated there shall be 4 audio formats on the blu ray. Do you have the same ?
I love that ,when this video was uploaded, this channel hadn't uploaded a video for sixteen years.
That's just because of laziness. 😁
