This episode we focus on Liurnia again, mainly on the portions just south of the Royal Academy. The Fell God spell we obtain is needed for the platinum and the Rose Church questline is the earliest we can get a permanent invasion item.
Big Boi followed me down 🤣
I’ve been watching in sequence but i don’t remember meeting patches in merkwater guess i gotta go back n do it later
The invasion counts for platinum?
I'm surprised he hasn't went to the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel cave yet to get that ball bearing.
I had accidentally struck the NPC that’s at the rose church but I didn’t kill him. So he wasn’t at the location. Is there a way to fix that mistake?
Shoutout to cowboy for being one of the only people on RUclips who is able to differentiate between a walkthrough and a let's play
Yes, Radbrad needs to take notes. Every game he plays for the very first time he labels as a walkthrough.
Good video bra 👍
FINALLY radbrad haters found in the wild 😂 its pissed me off for years that he does that like he can't even understand the meaning of a word he's typed a thousand times
What's funny is radbrad used to be my go-to. Now it's Cohh, rhurikan and cowboy. If they haven't covered a game I want it's then Christopherodd

@Cowboy. Dude, you’re a god. You have made it possible for a 69 year old reflexively challenged gamer to actually thoroughly enjoy a souls game. You are the best by far. Thanks so much.

Hey man you probably won’t ever see this but… I’m in the military and have no life rn. far as heck from everyone I love for the past 2 yrs and I don’t enjoy many things now a days. I know you say we should play this game on our own before following the guides but honestly following these guides playing as a new souls player is the one of the only things that gives me any joy now a days, thank you!
No stress brother! Enjoy the game, everything’s gonna be alright!❤️🔥
Thank you for your service. Life does get shitty sometimes but the boomerang will come back around. Just walk tall cause you're a military man and you're (people in the military) some of the best among us.
I am glad you're loving the game as much as I am! If you ever see a can't reside summon that's me!
I’m literally on the same boat as you rn. Everything you mention im the same. And my first time playing a souls game and following the walkthrough guide 🤣
I didn't even know where to start until I started watching cowboys videos. I almost gave up on the game cause I just thought it was impossible for me. Now I have a pretty decent vagabond.

Thank you.
Fun fact about Margit's Shackle, it will activate the trap pillars in catacombs and also reveal hidden doorways in the area. If you're exploring a catacomb, tunnel, etc. then just occasionally use the shackle and every hidden passageway will open up.
Whaaaatt?
@@2dg3 100% true. Essentially works as a remote control for fire/frost pillars across all catacombs. There is also a Hero's Grave where you have to go through hoops to make a couple of those chariots collide. Can just do it with Margit's Shackle. Some of the most useful runes I have spent.
I can validate that this works. @@wisdomteeth504
I know Cowboy will get to it sooner or later, but I found, while following along with the walkthrough today that right by Patches spawns a Deathbird at night. It caught me by surprise as I wasn't expecting it but for anyone interested, it's there.
funny thing is, during the walkthrough prep he encountered that deathbird and had to quickly rest cause it was about to kill patches
Hella death birds
Yeah lol. Using this walkthrough on a NG+ and just doing it at night so I don't miss them. Just casually strolling through the lake....*Enter Deathbird!* It died but still, mild panic was present.
I cant find patches
For those playing elden ring offline, you need to go to writheblood ruins in the altus plateau, easier way: go to fort farouth, and climb all the way to the top to get half a medalion, (remaining half already covered in walkthrough). then to grand lift of dectus to-> forest spanning greatbridge-> take the teleporter and ride below the same spot and carry on and touch a bloodstain.
Thank you!! This helped.
thanks buddy
I hav been roaming around the same spot down below the teleporter for hours now but couldnt find the bloostain.. can you be more specific where I can find it?
I went to the castle you mentioned, where is the other half?
@@zymotoxic sry for the late reply had exams, but if go below the bridge along the road( travel for like 1 minute on horse) you'll find a structure with some insanely glitched dogs( not sure if it's fixed) and it's in that structure.
Sacrificial Twigs can also be used to back out of a boss fight. If you stumbled onto a miniboss that you aren't ready for, the Twig can get your runes out of the fog wall
Just watched your whole walkthrough up to now and the more I watch, the more it’s dawning on me just how MASSIVE this game is. I’m trying to fathom the thought process and the design that went in to stitching this all together. The code alone must have taken years or at the very least a huge team, or both. Never played a FS game before but my respect for them as a studio has gone through the roof, they’re immense
U should try some of their other games. If u have a ps5, start with demons souls.
FOR ANYONE WHO CAN'T PLAY ONLINE OR DON'T LIKE INVASIONS: In Altus, there is a ruin called Writheblood Ruin. If you are playing in Offline mode, there will be a red summon sign here for an NPC named Magnus The Beast Claw. Killing Magnus will also progress White Mask Varré. I wouldn't recommend going there until CowBoy does because resting at a Site of Grace in Altus is actually a trigger for several npc quests so you could end up missing something.
Magus also drops a Fulcalling Finger Remedy, a Rune Arc, a Somber Smithing Stone 6, some runes, and a decent weapon called the Great Stars (you can get Get Stars in a different way, but killing Magis lets you get 2 of them without going to NG+.)
2024 boy here. This game has changed my life - such an amazing experience, especially when paired with your walkthroughs. Love what you do with the map markers…they’re shining beacons when we get lost in this huge world. Keep on rockin 🤘🏽
Margits shackle is more useful than first thought it dispels illusion walls and deactivates pillar traps before your in range of the fire or whatever the pillar is firing at you. Thanks for the walkthrough cowboy top notch as ever
I beat the game and am now going through the walkthrough. I can't believe how much stuff I missed in my first play through, it makes sense, it is just crazy. Thanks for this awesome series.
Your content was a large part of what convinced me to even give Elden Ring a look - and I currently have a main that goes through first run and the toon I have following along with your walkthrough - I know a lot of damn time and effort goes into these and I wanted to let you know it's appreciated. It's well organized, parsed out in easy to digest segments, and man you make it entertaining and engaging. Thanks, bud. You rock!
I'd like to point out that now since Varre is in the Rose Church, if you go back to The First Step grace, in the place he was standing you'll see he left a message, if you interact with it he tells you where he currently is and you get the "Bravo" emote.
Bro pls help! At @33:10 I accidentally hit him and now I cat talk with him anymore, he attacks me when he sees me. What can I do?
@@octaviangabriel2004 at the Church of Vows (the one with the big Turtle) you can "atone" by interacting with the statue in the middle so that npc's forgive you and become friendly again. You need a Celestial Dew for that though, i guess the earliest one you can find is the one on a corpse at the inner side of the Raya Lucaria gate; after you interact with the big magic door and get in, as you're facing the grace turn around and keep going past the wolves and the merchant (there is a bloodhound knight so be careful)
Thank you! I did it! Haha
Ok story I was following the guide right I finally do the invasion and I was friendly instead of fighting the guy gave me 1million runes and now I am level 90 and a boss so who ever that was thank you and have a good day people can be very nice
thank you Cowboy! You got me through DS 1 years ago. Following these Elden guides each day as they come out. Good work, Bro. You’re the best.
My most memorable moment during Varre's quest was when I invaded and apparently hit a fight club pool. Came in, looked around, host was on a rock, other guy is in the middle of an open field. I just said screw it and went into the ring. I'm not a pvp player, but I think the way the community does pvp is really cool. I also think pvp is something everyone should try at least once.
It was like that in DS3 as well outside of the Pontif area. Everyone gathering around watching 2 people fight to the death 😄
I killed Varre at the church. He was getting on my nerves and I don't care about his quest. Dude was too creepy.
its rare to experience such moments, most times they just all rush you.
Yeah I haven’t tried it up until this point. I died all 3 times but it was fun for sure
Just wanted to note that for off-line players, there is a way to complete Varre's quest line without the online requirement. There are RUclips videos addressing the process for how to do it. Also, thanks to Cowboy for another great video!
Thank you
I feel bad for the guy who got invaded fighting the boss.
And got backstabbed
Shouldnt be playing co op lol
@@doubble80 why? I don’t co-op often but when I do I have a blast
@@Thor-cx4pk bc coop opens you up to invaders
yep, that dude has prob been trying to defeat that boss all day, invited his friends to help him, was only 2 hits away from victory and then gets cowboy running around behind him and proceeds to get butt f@cked ... lmao.
I just want to say that I got invaded when I was in the middle of a mini boss fight. I had been killed by that mounted knight guarding the gate about 10 times. The person never attacked me and didn't help. I don't know if that was motivation knowing that the person could step in at any time, but I killed the mini boss. That kind of ettiquite I appreciated. If it was just random enemies, sure, come at me, but I was so thankful that the person didn't try to attack during a mini boss. I wish I could have thanked that person. He's the real hero!
I am new to souls game. Elden ring is my forst souls game ever and I absolutely love it!! Thx to yours walkthrough videos i can actually know what to do and where to go! :) Thank you very much!!

@@ace052330 I am actually ahead of him. Almost killed last boss at the academy. This videos help me find what i have missed during my exploration ;)
Some people will say you shouldnt use a walkthrough when playing for the first time. It may be somewhat true but I am someone who understands why some people use it for their first playthrough. I remember watching cowboy play dark souls 3 and he had some items I didnt and i would think to myself where the hell did he get that? So i use the walkthrough for elden ring on my first play through bc i dont want to miss out on having the best items and making my character the best he could be. What I do recommend to preserve the first time experience is too go through the areas on your own in order. Avoid talking to or killing NPCs and using specific items. If you suspect it'll ruin a questline then do not do it. I am a few areas ahead of these walkthroughs; however, i still watch them and follow along just in case i missed anything
don't be ashamed of using walkthroughs. Everyone experiences games differently. I remember spending 70 hours on DS3 without being able to find the 3rd boss, and my equipment was a tragedy. I followed cowboy's WT and was finally able to complete the game I paid for. no shame because I dont do this for a living, but for fun. there is no fun in sucking on a really good game!
I’d highly recommend Bloodbourne, demon souls and the dark souls trilogy. Very great games with massive replay ability
Really appreciate these, I'm on my 1st playthrough so I'm doing my own thing then using these to pick up anything I missed. Cheers Cowboy!
Yo same
Same! I was keeping pace, but I'm a long way behind now. >.
@@Jailhouse_Chris haha good news Is that you don't have to wait for content you can go at your own pace rather it be 5 pf these a day or 1 now!
Thank you for making these! You are putting the time in and it shows. This vast world begins fairly aimlessly, but your guides improve the enjoyability/fun of the game play for those of us new to the fold.
When doing the invasions for Varre, just a little warning (for cosmetic reasons) for what happens when you do it. I don't know if it's on the first invasion or the last one or if it only happens when you defeat the host but you can get permanent red "evil" eyes. You can turn them off in the mirror at roundtable but those eyes overwrite every other eye event you can get. For example, you can no longer get glowing yellow dragon eyes from eating dragon hearts or using dragon attacks. Apparently doing that part of the questline locks you out out of all other eyes you can get forever on that character. So if you care about that, then don't do the invasions. You can get to the area he was talking about later, although it's near end game. Up to you.
Good I want to look evil anyway lol
Frenzied Flame eyes will overwrite Knight of Blood eyes, I’ve found, but you do lose the sick dragon eyes as you said.
I've been watching your walkthroughs for years, mostly for From Soft games as they are deliberately obtuse. Throughout them all there are common threads - attention to detail, high level play, and professionalism.
If anyone deserves to make RUclips a career it is you. The amount of time and effort you are putting into these Elden Ring walkthroughs is staggering. I would go mad trying to explain this game.
Anyway, great content as always. This project might be your Magnum Opus.
Hey Cowboy just letting you know in case this has any sort of future implications, without Xbox Live Gold / PS+ you can't actually use any of the fingers - so in the event that it's tied into something later, just making sure that bases are covered for alternative routes. I'm doing these walkthroughs on my consoles for my second/third play-through and don't have a subscription on them (of course on PC nothing is required) but just as a heads up. Thanks for the guides thus far!
at 27:30 CB did just that- there are two different ways to get it- this way, and later in the volcano manor questline. but the reward is a permanent invasion item that you won't need anyway. the only other thing you get is a teleporter to mohgwyn palace, which you'll eventually get to anyway- but again, if you're not playing online then it's irrelevant since you won't be able to do that part.
When I used my finger it sent me to the world but then right back out because of a network problem or something idk…
@@kodydennison7353 Even if that happens, it’ll still progress the quest as 1 of 3 invasions required.
Heres the link to do this quest offline by invading an NPC’s world
ruclips.net/video/pzjZ3YqQ4Rc/видео.html
So how do we complete the questljne
Hey Cowboy, don't know if you'll see this, but if you roll in poison or rot and it keeps building up on you after you're out, you can use soap to wash it off and get rid of the buildup. It might be worth mentioning this in a future episode. Great walkthrough though!
So that’s what soap is for, I always wondered.
He already mentioned it in an earlier video
Luvin' the commentary brutha. I didn't think the game could get better until I did your walkthrough. Hands down the best. Thanks for the time commitment
I have to say I am so grateful for the time you have taken to do this walkthrough! Thanks FightinCowboy!
Episodes get better and better. You get better and better guiding us through. Thank you 🙏
You’re the best cowboy right on time as usual!
I just wanted to say that I just started playing this game again a month ago and couldn't get anywhere without dying and I gave up on it when I first tried it when it came out. Thanks to you im having a blast and this is like the best game ever! First dark souks game I've played. Thank you so much for the time you've put in to help idiots like me.
Gotta say I loved the pvp invasion. My first 2 I got destroyed but on my 3rd invasion I killed a hunter, the co op player, and the guy who's world we were in. It felt so good taking them out 1 by 1
Definitely. I'm experienced so it feels mean to do but you have to in order to get to mohg. I did my invasions and killed all of them lol. Like a straight up bully and gave a complementary tbag
These are endlessly helpful, thank you. Being new to the game, I like to watch the bits where you drop beacons, then go to those spots and see what I can do. I watch the rest of the vid afterwards to see if I missed anything. Again, awesome work, man
As always, thank you for doing these. By far the best walkthroughs out there. Amazing job
This is the 3rd game, i think, where I just played naturally, got stuck and end up tripping over these guides.
Always starts off with, 'I have needs' and turns into taking my post stormveil (or equivalent) character back to the beginning and finding all the crap I missed. By the time the walk through catches up to where I got stuck, I am a super powerd monster, and I LOVE IT
If you’re seeing this and don’t know at this point: you can use margits shakle later on to ixnay some chariots in the hero’s grave in Altus I believe. Very worth getting.
Cowboy is the GOAT. Got into all of FromSoftware’s games because of him and now they’re my favorite RPGs. Keep it up brother.
You are so godlike in PVP even under pressure of thousands watching you performed so well. Thank you for that and your awesome guides.
to reiterate the sacrificial twig item, you want to equip it when you die with a few levels worth of runes, and you have to run back to them.
your runes will be at the "last stable ground" which is usually the last place you were able to perform a jump or attack, so don't necessarily return to where you died if you fell of a cliff :)
This is my second time going through using your walkthrough. Props to your patience and dedication. And for all those people complaining about not keeping your map up for longer.....fuck you! Lol. Like you can't use the pause button for two seconds while FC is putting in HOURS of work to help you! Ungrateful bastards! Lol You killed it with this bro! Gonna watch every game you do.
I bought the prawn and I got some more dialogue and i received the spready out emote. Love this thanks so much for doing this!!
You have the best walkthrough of any game on youtube
I liked exploring on my own but to have the areas structured like this makes it a breeze
Even after hours on the game I’m still learning new things watching these videos
Kind of sucks that the NPC quest requires you to invade when you don't have PSPlus but oh well...
I've bought it for 1 month just for this, but I can't get into any invasion 🤦♀️
Another little tip, if you roll in poison or rot, your armor gets filled with it, thats why it keeps building up, if you use a soap, it cleans it and stops the build up.
It’s crazy now to look at the current map vs the one Cowboy has here. Sooo many minor updates, like how the prawn shack is now on the map, and several of the islands shown here at 18:45 are different shapes from current map
Thank you Cowboy, I know you said to have a playthrough on your own 1st before doing this series, but it was just to overwhelming for me and I had no idea what to do or go and was very close to binning elden ring off because I just kept dying, gave these videos a go and have been absolutely hooked playing along 😀
Literally me but 9 months later lol
I went ahead to explore and to grind some levels ... did an absolute heap of stuff ... missed almost everything in this video.
Fromsoft have updated Elden Ring. You don't need to do player invasions to advance the Varre quest. Go to Writheblood Ruins, invade the npc world of Magnus the Beast Claw. Defeat him and that will advance the quest.
The ruins are on Altus Plateau
@@knight_flyer1199 bit later in the game than I would of liked wonder if there's a way to sprint over there
i figured out how to get the bearing hunter to spawn consistently at the church of vows- if you rest until night it will be "evening", then fast travel away from the church- then back, it will be "night" and he'll be waiting for you. also works on the bearing hunter at the warmaster shack, etc.
No just sit at the grace there and put it to night, exit and go rest back and exit. He will be right there and repeat for him to spawn again if you die
@@vinn8710 you can fast travel faster than quitting to the main menu and coming back, but you do you
@@ABentPaperclip I don't think you have to exit to menu. I think all you have to do is rest at a grace again without doing anything, exit out and you will see the Bell Bearer
ah, i'll give that a try, that would be great
The best way is to just pass time until nightfall at the church or warmaster shack and then rest at the same site of grace and it'll be there, no need tl fast travel or anything. Just pass time and sit at the site once more.
For what it's worth, margots shackle will also open fake walls + activate/deactivate fire breathing pillars in catacombs and from great distances.
How important is Varre’s questline in order to get the platinum? (as an offline player who can’t be asked to get PlayStation plus) and is multiplayer relied a lot through the rest of this walkthrough?
I think it’s pretty important but I’m confused. Why do
You think that Varres quest has something to do with PSP? The trophy tracker maybe? You have to Fell Mohg but never fear my lambkin, the is a way to complete Varres quest offline as well. You have to wait until you get to the Altus Plateau or the Consecrated Snow Fields. Google knows where it’s at though. There’s also Wiki.Fextralifes page as well, pretty much all the info FC gives and then some

Hi Cowboy, Early on in the walkthrough you mentioned that using a summon sign will open you up to invasions. I don't want to be invaded so I avoid summon signs. If I use these 3 fingers to progress the quest, does that open me up to invasions going forward or will I still be safe? Thanks
I mean cooperative signs. If you're playing with a friend you're open to invasions.
Related question, as for the blue and white Cipher rings. If I equip them and get sent to another world to help, will that open my world up to invasions?
@@neodekaful No, only playing co-op opens you up to non-NPC invaders.
Though this is my third playthrough of Elden ring and I have many under my belt throughout all of the souls games I just can’t get over how fun pvp is especially this close to launch.
it's why we play in offline mode
“Forever immortalised in the walkthrough series” - I lol’d
I invaded "big dad". We were respectful, bowed to one another then he frenzied my ass to oblivion. Good times! Aside from "gankers" the souls community is truly the best.
Major vibes here man thank you! What I’m doing is following your guide and realizing certain things for my build venturing off to handle some things and coming right back. First play through so this is awesome!
Considering this video is a year + old now, the invasion mechanic is currently broken in this game when tied to the Bloody Finger Quest Line.
So the when placing a bloody finger down, the game tries to "matchmake" with a character close to your level. There could be 30 players near you, but if you're a significant higher lvl, you won't be able to invade them.
I tried going along with the guide, but because I was a lvl 70, I didn't get any invasion for hrs. And I mean 6+ hrs. You're going to have better chances as a low level.
This quest will eventually be busted later on depending on how many players are are left in this game.
The comparison with invasions and breaking into someones house has me dying man so true🤣🤣
Question: For patches I didn’t kill him but he wasn’t at the location you marked on the map… is there another location he is at?

Why am I always seeing a 60yr old commenting on these 💀
You are awesome, sir. A friend recommend this game to me and I felt overwhelmed. Then I found your videos and have been having the time of my life playing along. Thank you!
For those that wish to do Varr’s invasion quest offline, heres the way to do it

Thank you!! been looking for bloodstain everywhere but couldnt find it! this solved the problem :)
@@zymotoxic glad it helped
Don't you have a patron account? With all the help that you gave me, and thousands of other gamers, in your videos on Bloodborne, and now Elden Ring, it's only fair we give back! Just saying! Keep up the great work!
LMAO when Cowboy said its like waiting to kick a kid off a swing lololol That duel was the highlight for me ngl lol
I use to be struggling so much earlier on, now I find myself destroying the big enemies and fast forwarding the video waiting from him to beat the enemy . :) - my family has wondered why in the middle of the night I screamed at the tv...the screaming has stopped.. now the sounds of cheers !
My son recently introduced me to this game I have the game pass on Xbox and I found your walk-throughs thorough. usually I just walk through the area on my own and discover but sometimes I miss things and backtrac. this is my first play through.
I watch your videos just to see what you've picked up and the order in which you're hitting the different biomes. anyway this is a great game and I love open world gaming I've always been a big Zelda /Final Fantasy fan and in my opinion this is just another great way to spend downtime. GG
Dude I took your words to heart and really believed that the monster won't follow me at 13:40. But it did, it did follow me in there and made me turned pale. 😂👍
Is there any debate that ER is the greatest game ever created? It's an absolute masterpiece. What game could possibly be considered better?
In terms of open world games like this, i can only think of the Witcher 3, otherwise nothing comes close.
I’m probably gonna get flamed for this but I still prefer the combat style in sekiro over Eldin Ring.
@@IvanRubin I loved Sekiro combat. No running, no backing up. Just in your face, up close, melee combat.
Margins shackle is good for getting off a rotten breath. Using it upon entering any dungeon or cave will also break any illusionary walls, and can be used to trigger the flame pillars
Till now i move with your exactly same steps .. every monster, cave, etc.. I'm just doing everything exactly like you .. it's my first souls game and you making it very much easy for me .. thank you my friend
“I might as well try to fight them” and then proceeded to f them up. So humble bro 😂 thanks for this walkthrough series my man 👍🏻
Love it, my approach? Explore the area ahead of you. Then watch to see what I missed.
love ur vids, i love how at like 12:20 u explained what u were going to be grabbing so it saves us the time to skip ahead to the more important items. keep up the great work!
When I did my 3 invasions I actually bowed to my second opponent, and they bowed back. And then I got my ass kicked
These walkthroughs are very helpful. Seems like there are plenty of things I have missed.
This has made the game so much more enjoyable for me... you have a loyal subscriber for life man, so much thanks for all of these. It is so awesome to play along like this 🙌
I appreciate that you clearly read the comments and take feedback into consideration. Specifically regarding the map and leaving it up just a bit longer for us smooth brained apes to get our marks in order before venturing out. Thanks again for all you do.
Damn, killing that team fighting the tree avatar was cruel
For those of you offline, you have to get the second half of the dectus lift we didn't grab, at fort faroth in caelid. Take the dectus elevator up, go to the first part of the broken bridge after you pick up a map piece. Take a teleport to NE of Writheblood ruins, ride to NE edge of Writheblood ruins and there should be a red invade summon for NPC Magnus. I didn't grab any graces because I don't know if doing this changes NPC storyline outcomes, reddit said it would 2 years ago, I don't think it would, it would be kind of dumb if it did for this much required effort in a new area... also don't know if he addresses this in a later episode.
You can quickly kill those big fast things with heal spell. Just heal 2 times next to them and they are dead
Absolutely awesome! And this "Don't be a piece of shit that's cheating" is just the piece de resistance.. Bravo my friend and THANK YOU!
im glad he talked about the way to use the sacrificial twigs because I didnt know they could be used this way. Its a really good tip
