This might seem difficult to believe, but Valentino may have been the greatest actor of all time!! Yes, he was among a handful of the best-looking screen stars in history. That wasn't what made him a screen icon for the ages. Look at his physical presence and charismatic expression. WITHOUT THE USE OF SOUND!! It is difficult to imagine any actor from his era or any other that would have equalled this charming performance. At least stripped of their vocal cords!! That Valentino achieved his astonishing popularity in a silent era speaks for itself. Even if he couldn't speak for himself!!
Of all the videos I have seen of him this is my favourite. I know he is acting but I just have a feeling that in real life he was equally as charming and kind as he is on screen. What a lovely man.
Definitely a "atypical" role for Rudy. his hair and indeed his acting so natural here miles away from Latin lover roles- yet same screen charisma. Neat sea man role which showed his range as an actor.
Oh, but to hear his voice....how lucky his leading lady is in this movie to hear him speak and be in his muscular arms....According to those who knew him, his voice was a deep baritone with the lilt of an Italian accent...the perfect boyfriend.... Keep your wonderful videos coming.
There is a RUclips interview out there of his nephew Jean Valentino (RUclips search Jean Valentino Interview 1977 part 1). Jean's voice is also baritone with Italian accent. I am thinking Rudy's may have been similar if he reached that age that Jean was in the interview.
Yes Jean really was close to Rudy..he told Rudy had little battleships. There at his house Wgen they came visit had Christmas ! Beautiful tree...ALL..he & RUDY floated the little ships in front fountain playing ..great "CHUMS" he said his Uncle Rudy......💚💚💔💔
@@bluebird5361 If you listen closely there is a small section where he goes into "singing-speaking" ....you get a sense of his speaking voice that way, too!! He sounds like my grandfather sounded, 70 years after he got here! The accent was still there...never goes away!
I loved his hair not being slicked down!!! And, I have to say....he was prettier than most of his leading ladies....This film was made in 1922, the year my mother was born....She passed in 2016.....This was a beautiful video! UPDATE: actually, it was released in Feb. 1922, but was made in the fall of 1921, after he made the Sheik which finished filming late August 1921. The Sheik was released in October 30,1921. Camille had been released Sept. 26. I have a blog post which gives the timeline that ends just before he starts Moran. If you go to my channel, you will see turtle videos (LOL) but I videoed that particular blog post and in the description you can find the link to the blog and get the full timeline...1920-21 was a big year from the time of finishing of The Four Horsemen to the fall of 1921.....
Condolences for your Mother.............yes love this video & movie too....Moran of Lady Letty".....it hurt to watch that ole sea Capitan make fun of Rudy & talk to him like he did...!ii kno it was jus t a script....but still......but Rudy got him in the end ..beat him up good ...up& down the ship...ha
My favorite Valentino film. He plays Ramon, a rich San Franciscan. Much was filmed in San Francisco. He is Shanghaitid and the captain and crew are very delighted to have him captive on board.
Thank you for this beautiful video. Valentino is timeless and enchanting. The one star that l would want to meet. I am reading his diary now and it is fascinating to see how he felt about things. He was very intelligent and articulate. May he Rest In Peace.
Rudy looked simply gorgeous and did a fine acting job in this film. He is in casual clothes with natural hair and it suits him well. A lovely natural performance from this astonishingly handsome young man. It is so sad that Rudy's life was so short and by most accounts his private life was not happy. He deserved a long and happy life with someone who loved and cared for him as much as he cared for them! Niether of his wives were on the same wave length. I think he was a little niave when came to picking women. Perhaps too soft and sensitive. Not too many men like him in those days or in these days!! Had he lived longer he would hopefully have had a chance to find personal happiness and become an even greater star. 🌹🌹🌹 fulfill a
Amazing 🤩 I know Anthony Dexter did Valentino's life story which was Cool!! He does resemble Rudy which I really thought WOW he is so Rudy's twin 🥰 Thank You for another Awesome Video 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
@Barbara Shernoff That's Cool!! When Anthony Dexter is doing the Tango scene that's the part I thought of Rudy as in certain angles Anthony did have that Rudy look 🤩 Yes we all know there is only 1 Rudy & Yes he is Very Beautiful 💖💖💖💖💖
I was watching another video going through stills of Rudy and they slipped in a pose with Anthony Dexter and I actually thought it was Rudy...I had to go back and look at it again!
What a beautiful video for such a beautiful man....oh those tight pants of his....I am such a naughty girl for what I am thinking! Moran of The Lady Letty is one of my favorite movies. His natural wavy hair was so gorgeous, even though he had pomaded hair in his later movies.
This is a truly beautiful video! Rudy looked so gorgeous in Moran Of The Lady Letty and REOs song fits it perfectly . The clips are all wonderful regardless of whether Rudy is fighting or loving. As usual your talent and creativity has given Rudys fans a video to love and enjoy! Thank you as always for for your taking the time and effort to create these great videos!
LOVE....love your videos......💜💜😘😄😄please..please find more RV movies.....are ANYMORE out there??...HOPE....He was so good in this....i almost missed it it. ..kept clicking past it...dumbo me.......just cant get over how versatile Rudy was.......i know actors ARE versatile thats why theyr actors......but still........so neat. He ends up being CAPTAIN & started out shanghaid!! Ha! Dam Captain kept call ing him Lillie if the Valley....sonafab"%!!-!...😠haha..he showed Him....kicked his rear OFF ship....beat tar outta him.....REO SPEEDWAGON" great song..
Smoking it is reported, contributes to peptic ulcer problems. Which is what killed him, sepsis after surgery for a perforated ulcer. Poor guy. Hard to fathom how he went through so much. I think I might start with this film first as I've never actually seen his films.

That guy is one beautiful Italiano! Such toned arms! His eyes, such expression! My Mom was madly in love with him. I totally understand!
Of all the videos I have seen of him this is my favourite. I know he is acting but I just have a feeling that in real life he was equally as charming and kind as he is on screen. What a lovely man.
Yes, I believe he was just as beautiful inside as he was out. ❤️
This is also my favourite video. Valentino was a good actor.

I love Rudy's hair when it is slicked back. It was one of the men's hairstyles of his day and he looked fabulous with his hair done that way.
