The dumbest part is that he had no idea that it was safe or not.
He went with 0.02 seconds of exposure to his domain on pure instinct, and somehow he was fucking right and everybody exposed recovered, AND it stunned everyone in the train station for long enough for him to kill all the transfigured humans.
So y'all had a slight misconception that the anime didn't explain very well: the one-minute time frame wasn't how long the Disaster Curses had to keep Gojo fighting, it was the amount of time Gojo needed to be kept in range of the Prison Realm for it to capture him. It's not possible to keep him immobile for that long, but fake!Geto showing up caused all those memories to flood Gojo's mind, and the target's perception of time is enough for it to count and the Prison Realm to capture him.
TL;DR: In the span of a second, three years of memories passed in Gojo's brain and the Prison Realm's rules say that counts for the minute Gojo needs to be in its range.

They didn't explained it that well on the episode, but they way the seal activation works is that it either needs to pass an actual minute or a minute on the targets mind. By seeing geto, and remembering all their years together, way more than a minute passed in his mind and instantly activated the prison realm.

I assumed it meant more like Gojo’s reaction time, he says “a minute in Gojo’s mind” since normally the Six Eyes grants him superhuman perception, meaning he’d be able to immediate recognize what happened then step out of the range, but after being flooded back with the memories of Geto his reaction time was used up simply by the shock of what was happening
@@Natherma985 it’s explained in the manga that Gojo basically thought through too much time so the Prison Realm immediately captured him. It’s not reaction time, it’s just time passing. His brain works so much faster than everyone else’s (which also kind of explains his Domain Expansion’s effect) that he perceived years in a couple seconds which caused the realm to chain him.
The way Gojo went in the Flash mode was one of the sickest animation sequences of all time!

Interesting detail someone explained, Hanami was being crushed by Hanami via infinity. Like basically the part of Hanami that was in the infinity could only move so fast as the rest of him was being pushed into it. resulting in a pancake. Hanami was exerting pressure on itself, because it was acting like infinite distance. Hanami's body was catching up to itself faster than it could handle. The effect was, basically, a wall hitting him because of this.
to simplify it, he got crushed by infinity

This episode had me at the edge of my seat. I even found myself not breathing at certain moments 💀. The killing of the humans was so much more gruesome in the anime, and that says a lot, considering how bad enough it was already in the manga 😭. So many things had to go right just for them to seal Gojo, he truly is "the strongest".
The blood curdle screams of the civilians and seeing their limbs and body parts fly in motion definitely adds to how gruesome it is.
Honestly I was shocked by how gruesome it was in the manga but the anime made it mortifying.

Hope everyone is staying away from JJK manga spoilers because hoo boy. If you don't wanna be spoiled, you should probably stay away from Twitter. Be safe, not sorry. Moving on, Gojo obliterated Hanami. Even with a handicap of holding back due to the civilians around. It's a bit of a shame. Hanami got interrupted from doing her domain expansion by Gojo last time. So she died without us ever seeing what it was. Unfortunate.
I love Mahito hopping off the train after causing havoc and then being super happy. Even when facing Gojo, he seems to still be having fun. And considering how strong Gojo is, that just tells you how carefree Mahito is. Such a chaotic force.
Finally, the reveal of Geto. Gojo was so strong that he annihilated Hanami. So strong that he took down an insane amount of transfigured humans in only a few minutes. But when he saw the body of his best friend, his mind froze up. Everything that he had been gifted in life told him that the person standing in front of him was Geto. But the depths of his soul cried out and told him that wasn't true. We were given a mention of Yuta as well, and while Gojo thinks Yuta could one day rival him, the person standing in for Geto seems to disagree. We start off this battle with our strongest player removed from the board. How fun.

Gojo's domain floods the mind with infinite informations that renders the victim unable to function or even catatonic. His domain is basically everything to ever exist flooding your mind and causing it to lag.
here's a play by play of gojo's gamble:
-Gojo activated the domain for 0.2 seconds (since anymore than that will cause all the civilians to become vegetables).
-everyone got flooded with a vast amount of informations that rendered them frozen.
-after 0.2 seconds he deactivated it.
-he didn't attack the curses because there was a chance that the physical damage could wake them up.
-after deactivating it, he speedblitzed the transfigured humans and killed all 1000 of them in the span of 299 seconds.
-after a domain expansion, the cursed technique gets burned up and one could not use it for a period of time.
-gojo notices "Geto" and has a flashback to the first arc of the season (3 years pass in a flash in his mind.)
- the prison realm works only if the target stays in its radius for 1 minute of the target's mental time. Since gojo had memories flash in his mind, the 1 minute passed.
-Gojo gets sealed.
