Can we go back to May 31, 2015? Great times! Have had this ice cream maker for 10 years? just took it out today to for the first time in .. well nearly 10 years. Time to start making ice cream every week instead of buying it. It's so much better homemade!
This video helped me to make my final decision on buying this product.. I am lactose intolerant and my choices are VERY limited. Now I am on the hunt for lactose free whipping cream. Thanks
+joanne c Hi Joanne, you're welcome - glad the video was helpful. As for lactose free whipping cream, I believe you can whip coconut cream and add powdered sugar to make a lactose free substitute. Hope that helps :)
I love this machine, excellent investment and so simple. The vanilla ice cream recipe in the book is perfect very delicious. Definitely worth the money. Very happy and feel empowered to make my own ice cream excellent during the price gouging during the pandemic.
My ice cream came out perfect. I love this ice cream maker and prefer making my own. I made vanilla bean and simply vanilla. This ice cream maker was way better than I thought and easy. Just follow the directions. Great review for this product.
I just bought a Cuisinart ice cream maker and I love it. I have a question why can't you store the ice cream back in the freezer bowl after you make it.
Nice job on the video - I love mine after my first batch today. Maybe my fridge is colder but after only 5 min or so, mine looked like yours at 10-12 min. My recipe had eggs yolks though and had to cook and chill overnight. I hate most store-bought - Once I identified that slimy/gummy mouth feel, I couldn't stand it anymore.
I just ordered this machine, $42 with prime. I have some specific things I want to try that don't seem to be mentioned: 1. This might be a great way to make "adult" ice cream - adding a bit of sherry or flavored liqueur. Can't buy it and pouring it on isn't the same. 2. We had a bumper crop of plums this year and my wife made dozens of jars of plum butter. Seems like an opportunity. 3. I wonder if placing the whole machine into the freezer to churn will make better ice cream since it won't get warm. Probably need a small gauge extension cord. 4. The mix is supposed to be cooled but might it be even better if it's placed in the freezer for 20-30 minutes? 5. Could stevia substitute for some of the sugar? Looking for lower glycemic index which is the point of buying this machine. I find most ice cream too sweet. I may edit this comment once I've had a chance to try some of these.
Wilhelm Taylor generally sugar is there to act as antifreeze for the ice cream so it doesn’t harden up too much! I hear agave nectar is low glycemic and it’s just a different form of sugar. Did you even get a chance to try stevia?
Wilhelm: Wife, Ice cream, bumper crop-plums, liquer, shot glasses. 1stly: start making plum liquer NOW. When ready, feed each other liquer in shot glasses. Prepare ice cream w/honey dribbled everywhere. Put sign on front door: Gone fishin. Turn every plug-in off & light candles. Music is ok. Let us all know in 9 mos. how you're doin. 💋

@@TimeBucks If the liquid is closer to freezing temp the bowl won't have to do as much work to bring it down to freezing temp. Trust i tried this without a cold liquid. It didn't com out creamy and I had to start again.
In the old days, the ice cream machine, with ice cubes and rock salt, ran until it get stuck. When the motor cannot run anymore, totally frozen, then the ice cream is ready. These new machines, though don't need ice and salt anymore, always ask you to stop when it's "soft serve" consistency. I wonder if you can keep it running till the paddle/motor freeze together and don't turn anymore. Maybe that will produce more solid ice cream, no?
Hi, it would not product more solid ice cream if you keep it running. The cooling liquid in the unit would not be frozen enough after the suggested running time. 😀
Thank you! I just ordered this machine and it'll be here in two days. I read some article today it'd actually be less desirable to churn the ice cream longer than "soft serve". They say when making high fat ice cream, the butter could actually get churned out (they call it "buttering") and forms lumps that you can detect when eating. Kinda make sense.
@@harrycallahan9733 I was about to comment on your suggestion, but I see you already found the answer to you question. Yes...you will end up with sweet butter in your cream. Now, if you're into that, go for it!😁

I made this recipe and let it go 20 min. After freezing it, it left a waxy film in my mouth due to churning too long. 15min is enough. It will harden in the freezer.
I have always bought my vanilla beans from one supplier on Ebay, and have used them for about seven years now. If you would like the name, just tell me. They sell every grade there is.

Two really important things must happen before you can make this work. The first thing is that the coolant in the bowl must be completely frozen. I'm talking frozen solid. When you remove the bowl from the freezer and shake it, there must be no sound. If you hear splashing, ie., liquid inside, it's not frozen and it will not work. Put it back in the freezer and make sure your freezer temperature is 0 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. Second thing is to make sure your ice cream base/mixture is as cold as possible. After making the base, refrigerate it for at least two hours. Overnight is best. When you have achieved those two things, your ice cream should reach a soft serve consistency in twenty minutes. There's a common denominator working here...frozen and cold!
+bestkitchenreviews Aww man, I would looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove to have one of these ice cream machines! It just starts to come up to the rim of the insert and begins to go into edge of rim of insert. That is the point I turn mine off. It is firm and not liquid. It will not run all over. At this point remove and scoop out ice cream into freezer container and you get firm ice cream faster than if you turn it off early. You have to clean the insert anyway. Just wipe the machine off if some drips down.

I just bought a Cuisinart ice cream maker and I love it. I have a question why can't you store the ice cream back in the freezer bowl after you make it.
There's a liquid gel inside the bowl that will expand and blow out the seal on the bowl if left too long in the freezer.

+70sShows Hi, it's aluminum :)
The turning "dasher" is made from thin, cheap plastic. Mine broke after using a couple of times. Very disappointed...expected better from Cuisanart.
Vanilla beans and vanilla extract, why???
Hi, because using both gives the ice cream an intense vanilla flavor :)
For an intense vanilla flavor, I use vanilla extract, vanilla paste, and a Madagascar vanilla bean.
I have the same machine. I wait until the ice cream starts to come over the sides of the bowl before I stop it. 👍
Is that supposed to be a good thing? It sounds like it’ll make a mess. I have a tiny kitchen.
The bowl turns and the paddle does not. The ice cream mixture still gets stirred.
Sorry but you just can’t beat an old fashioned ice cream maker
this red one cost less than white one.why?
pablo almendarez Hi Pablo, I'm not sure - maybe it depends on the inventory.
Ok thanks
+bestkitchenreviews it's the colour I know...
On the contrary, the unit is quire noisy.

They are loud!
Even though you TRY to be a pain in my side, I still got plenty accomplished.
Hate this icecream maker. Bad job cuisinart.
I hate this ice cream maker.... waste of money. I made watermelon sorbet (My recipe was 1.5 qt.) and I had to take some of it out because the ice cream maker was small.
It’s been like maybe probably 7 or 8 yrs that I have one and still in the box maybe is time to start using it 🙄I know is ridiculous that is been still in the box for that long but I forgot I had it 🫣🤦🏻♀️
