Remember unless those speakers are completely shielded (which speakers never are) you are damaging that magnetic tape recording and you are magnetizing your tape heads by being next to those speakers! Always keep magnetic tape several feet away from magnetic energy. You will need to degauss (demagnetize) the tape heads now. That will make the high end come back to your recordings.
Tapes wont be magnetised unkess they get hit with 2x the correctivity of the tape, heqds are actually pretty tough to magnetise just randomly unless you use a magnetic screwdriver which is a nono in these machines...but otherwise, they hse solenoids for the mechanisation. Tapes can take a lot actually
Hi , I would tell they are really indestructible machines. Of course you have to find a good one at the start. If they are abused or abandoned somewhere in cold sheds for 20-30 years they are not in the best choice Even not the best ones after rebuild will be still serving you and next generation. Regards
Hello, I leave a question, maybe you can help me. Does the sound of a revox a77 depend 100% on its heads (head)? I'm seeing if I buy Revox a77 that apparently has changed heads and I have my doubts. Thank you!!
Hi Sound will probably depend on few more factors. Heads if they changed there was a reason, if they were worn machine was heavy used probably. It's not easy to kill those heads in my opinion and even if they have a marks of use visible they still can play good. Sound will depend also on electronics and of course on the tape quality and speed. Personally i made once a change to the heads and converted 2 track into 4 track, with a slight quality reduction but still great enough for domestic use. what could be worried in this case often people are changing heads into polished ones, so you cannot see that they are worned but they frequency response is cut off. Have a look at the rest of the machine and if it looks as not used to much or stored well you may take a risk. all depend on your abilities to repair those things.also you need to think about calibration. you can always lift frequencies on the oscilator or levels on the amps but this is for someone who know what he is doing. all depend what you need it for domestic or pro music production. Regards
Why did i waist my time watching, can’t see anything informative. There’s so much videos of this revox a77 on RUclips it’s totally not giving me something new.
Trabalhei com máquina Revox na década de 90 em Angola. Elas já não existem. Onde posso comprar juntamente com os amplificadores?

very good point. i hope this is just a quick demo setup

How reliable are those revox a77 machimes?

If A77 is aligned to Scotch 206, many other tape types can be used with unnoticeable difference between Input/ NAB. Never align to SM911.

Nice sound
Thanks
recorded sounds like it looses top end a little
Slightly yes. But it is to the acceptable level. You can always calibrate that and it also depend on the tape as well. Regards
@@tomaszm5656 Probably the bias is not calibrated properly for the bias or the eq is off...
Good work!
Thanks
@@tomaszm5656 I’ve made also a video of a A 77 repair ( sorry, in Dutch). ruclips.net/video/pG2B4DIS9ss/видео.html
@@Interhomekuurne It looks like you have done a brilliant work there, but I don't understand the thing. Did you consider subtitles in english?
The signal from Lena is worse than the incoming one!!!

So why did you waist more time by writing a negative review ?? I enjoyed the video Tomasz
