    I recently did a review of the brand new Topaz AI Video 4 and was pretty amazed by the results. You can watch that video here: • Using AI to Resurrect ...
    But I wanted to do more tests.
    So I dug through my footage and uploaded over 30 clips from when I shot a documentary series in Albania in 2014. Then I put them through Topaz Video AI 4 and... WOW. I'm blown away. This has given old travel and documentary footage new life.
    Original footage:
    Canon 5D Mark II with Canon 24-105mm f4, 1920x1080 or 1280x720.
    Enhanced to 8k footage in Topaz AI.

    The technology advancement to get to this point in video restoration is astonishing with the inclusion of powerful AI like TOPAZ. Shows that you should never delete older footage due to as technology improves the ability to reconstruct and re-enhance is always a distant possibility and should never be overlooked.

      Totally agree. There is tons of footage I now want to go through and see what can be resurrected for usage today. It really is pretty amazing.

    Great video, thank you. I'm struggling to get good results. Did you use the same settings every time, if so, what do you find works best?

    i came to see how good ai will work, but your work showed me if your fundamentals are strong even old footage was looking really good

      Haha thanks! Yes, after nearly a decade past seeing a lot of this footage, I was pleasantly surprised how it looked.

    Hi, how good is Topaz on videos with low resolution? I have home videos from 2007 and earlier with a resolution of 320x240, 480x320, and 640x480 pixels. Can Topaz video enhance these to 720p or 1080p without adding artifacts? Thanks

    • @CurrenSheldon
      @CurrenSheldon  8 месяцев назад

      That's a good question. The lowest resolution I've worked with so far is 1280x720 and it has worked amazingly well. Just as well as it did on 1920x1080. I would guess 640 would be fine, but would be interesting see what lower resolutions would result in.

    do you render it in 8k and then upload on 4k on youtube? because i dont see a difference in my 4k footage+4k export enhancement in topaz (barely)

    • @CurrenSheldon
      @CurrenSheldon  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, on this test I rendered HD footage to 8k and then place both on a 4k timeline (so 50% for the 8k Topaz footage and 200% for the HD footage).

    Hi, what hardware are you using for Topaz Video AI? Trying to decide on RTX card vs Apple Silicon Mac. Tried upscaling a 30min 720p clip to 4k on M1 Pro and it estimated 12 hours…

    • @CurrenSheldon
      @CurrenSheldon  8 месяцев назад +2

      For everything I've done so far, I have used a 2017 iMac - nothing special at all. But it did take awhile. I might try it on my M1 Max Pro Macbook Pro soon, but it's easy to just let the iMac work overnight if I want to do 30-minutes worth of clips.

    Have you tried upscaling slo-mo 120 fps to 4K? ...or if you know that works well? That's the only reason I would purchase the software.
    Thanks!

    • @CurrenSheldon
      @CurrenSheldon  6 месяцев назад +2

      I haven't tried that yet, but would like to. I have done 720p 60fps and think that would pretty great at 60fps in 4k. But I would love to test out the extreme slow mo functions in Topaz as well.

    What's the point of upscaling to 8k and people watching in internet with only 720p or 1080p. 8k is not friendly for most requires RTX 4080 above for fast. There are other free open software that can upscale better than Topaz video ai 8k in at 2k or 4k in less than 3 minutes. Everyone wish 2k upscale with really good result output. btw good video comaparison
