Goecha La ( 27°36′28″N 88°11′13″E ) is one of the many high altitude pass of Indian Himalayas. It is located in the North Eastern state of Sikkim at an altitude of 16207 ft and at a stone throwing distance from Mt. Kanchendzonga . The trail takes you through the foothills of Mt. Tingchenkang, Mt. Pandim ( yet to be summitted ) and finally to the foothills of of mighty Kanchendzonga, the third highest mountain in the world.
This trek is full of action from steep ascent to gorgeous meadow to deep dense forest to the unparalleled view of Mt. Pandim, Mt. Tingchenkang and Mt. Kanchendzonga. Zillions of star illuminating the night sky, the moon lighting up the Kanchendzonga and Pandim. This is absolutely a paradise on earth where one can forget all the worldly affairs and can be one with mother nature.

Ohhh!! The memories melt me ! U got the wonderful weather!! It is very rare in that trail!! I had this trek with the bombblustic rain all through the time! That made this double tough!

Yes...We went there for the first time in October...I witnessed the worst rainfall ever while trekking and it continued for 2 days...

You have had a good weather. I endeavoured twice in the year 1994 and 2003 but failed, due to rough weather .Got back from somiti lake. Your Photography is excellent. Wishing you all grand success for future trekking.
Yes in 2012 I experienced the most horrible rain till Phedang....

I just want to know of you people had any problem or encountered any problem with leeches.
I have heard of it from some people.
@@shikhasiingh We had our luck with leeches in 2012, it was I who was caught in the act in morning at Bakhim when I went to answer natures call. From Yuksom till Tsokha it's dense himalayan rain forest and the leeches are in abundance in this forest particularly if it rains or just after monsoon. In 2012 I had experienced the horrible rain in my entire trekking experience till Tsokha and also leeches. But in 2016 as you can see in the video the weather was clear hence we did not encountered any leeches. It is always advisable to carry a small bag of common salt, to remove the leeches from your skin.....

When is the best time to do this trek??
This video is so beautiful and informative . I am going to Goechala in this May so can you give me any suggestion about the weather of that place.
You can't predict weather in Himalayas... particularly in Sikkim Himalayas...we did it in Oct 2012 and I experienced the most horrible rain till phedang...this time we got an absolute marvellous weather during early November
I also did this trek in Oct 2018, but the weather was not that good .. if I am not wrong, trek upto vp3 was leagal that time right? Is there any exact reason why trekking till vp3 got prohibited?
I summit on 04 Dec'19. It's difficult and weather was foggy & windy. But got good weather & view from summit day, although temperature was below 5 d.

@V R I would suggest not to do it if you are a first timer....it is not a easy trek...But it again depends on your physical and mental stamina and at what time you are going for it...Suggested to do it in the month of Oct - Nov...Though the chill factor will be high so is the possibility of a clear weather...
