Loving this project more than Hope World 4 sure! I liked that album but felt like Jhope's mask was still too firmly on. The album was very solid but also safe if you catch what I mean. I learnt nothing new about him from that project. This project however is showing me new sides to Jhope. I appreciate the risk being taken cause you know there'll be those that will be pissed this album don't sound like Hope World 2.0
He is such a talented and multifaceted artist. We have seen his happy smiling side but he is human and like all of us has many sides. He is being vulnerable and letting us "in" to see his inner dialogue. This is an amazing song and I hope he burns even brighter.
i just wanted to quickly comment on the amazing lyricism in 'ARSON.' with j-hope credited as the main songwriter, these tones of authenticity, expression and passion shine through and create beautiful dimensionality and humanity in the lyrics. this message of exhaustion and uncertainty but this driving desire to tell more stories, having more to say, paints an image of j-hope struggling to decide where he wants to go. this message is relatable, but even more so authentic, as they come from his heart. i must admit, i was slightly disappointed by 'Yet to Come' and its lack of intensity, but this song (and the entirety of the Jack in the Box album) has this root in identity, and it turns this experience j-hope is having into music, which is really reminiscent of Bangtan's earlier music. i find myself impressed by this song in a similar way i was with RM's 'Persona' track, both being laced with looming questions and this idea of uncertainty. "do i put out the fire, or burn even brighter?" that lyric will have me in a chokehold for centuries
