I can't believe I didn't know about using the keyboard arrows to drag another image into a frame that already has an image in it! For front/back designs, I was making another mockup separately with design already on it and bringing that whole image into the frame to show the front. The keyboard arrows trick will help me save time - thank you Mandy!! 💕
@studiomdesignsco hi. Thanks for all you do😊. You share a lot with us in order for us to become successful Etsy sellers ❤. However, I have heard of scary stories of Etsy sellers that made a lot of money on Etsy, whose accounts got suspended and later shut down for no reason 😢. My question is: how often does that happen? Are you aware of that? What are the reasons for those sellers account on Etsy taking down ? Taken down with reasons is OK but for NO APPARENT REASONS IS SCARY that is why I have been skeptical on starting a shop on Etsy 😢.
This is one of THE BEST videos I've seen. Seriously. So helpful as I'm trying to break into the POD world. Thank you so much for being so clear & concise & showing everything step by step! Very generous to share your knowledge and experience!
Thank you so much for your clear walk-through step by step to take and the reasons why you do the things you do. It is like learning that subject matter and the organized thinking process. Genuinely appreciate your approach from beginning to end🌺
Thank you. ❤ . Your videos have helped me see a clear path for my current situation. I am an existing successful Etsy shop but have recently hit a bad burn out. I started brainstorming how to shift my business model to make my life easier as I am maxed out of grow in my current setup. I started putting pieces together for that new plan of action but your series has helped me so much with the missing pieces. I am currently transitioning my shop to the new business model thanks to you.
I cannot explain HOW fantastic this video is! Thank you!! I was also noticing this trend and already brainstorming niches to explore...but this video is SO detailed and extremely helpful!! And thank you for showing the personalization part too! I've always found that intimidating, but it does seem simple enough and missed opportunity NOT to offer it! thank you again!! Love all your videos! :)
I watched you for the first time and was very impressed about the tips in Canva!! Your teaching is awesome. Loved the Shift arrow keyboard trick. I get frustrated when the frames auto fill or I'm trying to line up something and it always jumps too much to the right or too much to the left.
Great video, as always! For the pocket mockup that you put in the frame, what I tried and it's a little less tricky is to make a front version mockup, upload it and drag it into the photo frame and then adjust like you did with the blank mockup, only you do it with the already made mockup.
Great tip! I’ve done it that way as well - in my normal batching I already have the blank mockups placed and ready so I’m just dropping in the images, so it goes a little faster 😅
Wanted to let you know I was just checking Tess 9/1/23 and the following have trademarks in the “in my era” niche Teacher, engaged, bride, auntie, mom, and black girl healing Thanks for all you do with this channel and your tips have put a fire under me again and I have a hefty goal of 500 more listings by the end of September 😮
Those are all brand new applications, not registered trademarks. The application process takes at least a year and they are not guaranteed for approval. If a trademark is not fully registered (such as these) they can still be used with no issues 😊 Cheering you on with your September goal!! 💜
Most amazing videos, I can feel you genuinely want the best for your audience. Really enjoy your videos.Going to your page to find your playlists. Thank you ✨
Actually the trademark just has an application. It is not registered yet and that can take about a year and is not guaranteed. That means the phrase can still legally be used until a trademark is actually fully approved and registered. Though in this case, I wouldn’t use the phrase simply because it’s super saturated 😊
Hello Mandy, thank you so much for the walkthrough. I designed one like yours 2 days ago and I was struggling with color palette but as you said it will get better in time with practice.🙌🏼
Wow, your ideas are awesome. Thank you. I will be watching more videos. I had Canva, but I do believe I will be switching to Kittl. It’s just so much better. I have Photoshop, but it’s so difficult to learn.
In canva, you can select multiple objects by holding shift and then selecting the ones you want then choose the color. It’ll color in all selected at once. Idk on kittl as I’m new on that platform.
Hi Mandy thank you for this video, I've been watching this type of design grow over the past year and have not ventured in yet, but I may have ago after watching your video. I found the tip about the tags towards the end of the video very helpful. I have never seen that before and I have spent so much time doing this manually. Perhaps you could do a video on tips you may not know. I bet there are heaps of things you have picked up over the years. Maybe you could ask your audience to tell you the best tips they have learnt recently. My new tip is to get a note book just for RUclips Etsy store and write the title of the video and the person doing it, and write notes during the video, so that when you need that idea, you can just go back to your note book and find it. Note the time when the tip is, so you can locate it quickly. It's also good to write down Apps that you might like to come back to in the future. There are two which I heard about, a long time ago, and didn't keep the names and now I might want to use them and don't know the details. One was a App for trademarks and copyright check you Etsy store and it checks your listings to make sure that none of them are now become trademarked or copyright. The other was a bulk editing tool for Etsy for changing prices and othering of one group at one time say t-shirts. Thanks
Such a great video! I’ve wanted to do front/back designs and this is a perfect walk through start to finish! ❤ I imagine adding your tags after it’s published as long as you are adding them quickly doesn’t impact the listing in terms of the Etsy algorithm!? I always felt I had to publish the listing with the tags or it would impact it negatively? Thanks again! 🥰
Hi Mandy. Thanks for all of your content. You have so much knowledge and are an excellent teacher. I am working on a niche business with handmade and unique products and want to add print on demand products for extra income. Someone else I follow that is doing something similar, started on Etsy, but was upset when others copied her tee shirt designs, which were sold to this niche group and she decided to shift her business to Shopify, so that hopefully she wouldn’t have people following her analytics. If you were going to start your hand made business, and add POD products, would you start on Etsy, or Shopify? I watched your video on this subject and you said your handmade business is on another platform, not Etsy, but what was the reason for switching? Thanks for the advice. I truly think your content is some of the best out there.
Mandy!! Thank you for showing us how to double click the framed design to adjust it, I was spending way too much time opening a new canvas and trying to center, save, and upload my front pocket designs just to make it frame up correctly 🤦🏻♀️ I also had no idea about the keys you could use to move your design. Big brain stuff!! Anyone happen to know how to make Etsy links NOT open a new page in my browser every time I navigate? I always somehow have 100 tabs open and it stresses me out because I can’t even see the titles the tabs are so tiny 😂 so, wondering if that’s possible.
I have found if you click on a image the timer does not come up but if you click on a blank area where no image is the timer comes up!! Btw love the way you do your video. I have changed to your way which is quicker then how I was doing it TY
Thank you for explaining step by step, I'm new to your channel, been hearing a lot about Etsy but don't really hear about if someone wanted to start doing this, do you need a business license first? Just curious
Thank you so much for very detailed video, I do have a question about personalization. When a buyer buys does the order go to printify automatically, how do you control that.? Is there a way to hold the order in etsy and then you submit a manual order in printify?
Remove the SKUs in Etsy when you make a personalized listing, this will then force an order that comes in to still connect to Printify but instead of going to regular orders they will go to the Other Order tab in Printify and essentially be on hold until you create the custom product and import it on the Printify side 😊
Hey Mondy , really nice video! I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail which will help your video to reach to a wider audience .
Question; would I need to increase my credit card limit or get a new credit card for use if I start a POD shop on Etsy? What do you suggest, if that makes sense?
I have a question when you create these design in kittle can you save them and send to other company to print them in dtf transfer or screen print and how do u upload it to print on demand if u have it ?
I have a question: I watched your full course and got confused about the etsy fees when you calculated them in etsyhunt and uploaded all the prices of the product delivery and the shirt and on the right there was not only 0.20 cents for the casual fee there was also : (Listing fee 0.20 USD Transaction fee 1.63 USD Payment processing fee 1.00 USD Offsite Ads fee 0.00 USD Regulatory Operating Fee
0.00 USD Total Etsy fees 2.83 USD) and total of 2,83 usd , and I am confused do I need to pay this on every product, because If I want to upload more than hundred it will be a little expensive for people with low budget on the start ? Have a nice day and thanks for the free content and also thank's for the answer in advance :)
You only pay the 20 cents for the listing up front. The rest are transaction related, meaning they come from the sale of the item (you’re not paying it up front). Hope that helps!
Those are all brand new applications, not registered trademarks. The application process takes at least a year and they are not guaranteed for approval. If a trademark is not fully registered (such as these) they can still be used with no issues 😊
Are designs we create in Canva using elements from CF and Kittl protected from people stealing them? One of my designs that is a best seller has been stolen and copied and pasted on their t-shirts. My question is if I create an original design can others then steal it and use it?
If you aren’t making money on your products, it’s time to raise your prices or pick higher ticket products. For example, I prefer to sell apparel, but basic tshirts are lower profit, so I start with sweatshirts and use a profit calculator to ensure I’m making much higher profit 🤓
Ok I just have to ask. What is the benefit to the 100's of RUclipsrs like yourself who share their secrets and potentially create more competition for themselves? Is it RUclips that is the big $$ generator? I am not trying to pick on you specifically, but this is so perplexing to me and creates skepticism. "Here's what I learned and now YOU can become another one of my competitors!"
I can’t speak for everyone, but I share because I strongly believe there is room for everyone. I can teach people the process, but it’s still up to individual sellers to put in the work and create good designs and products. There are almost 100 million buyers going to Etsy every year, but only 9 million sellers (not all of which are active or even legitimate), so there’s still plenty of space to carve your own spot in the market. Some are in it for the views and the money (look for the clickbait and shock value), but plenty also do it to help too. The extra bit that I earn from YT is nice of course, but I’m not getting rich off it lol Personally, I spent my entire career in the nonprofit service sector and have a background in training/development, so I also tend to see things through a different perspective of sharing, teaching, and giving back. I truly enjoy getting to encourage others and seeing others succeed in building a business they love - it’s just part of who I am. 😊💜
@@studiomdesignsco Seems like a perfect spot in the thread :) to express gratitude for your super generous, candid sharing of deep professional ecommerce and Etsy experiences that have been so helpful - Thank you!
It is fine to use as long as you are not using anything related to her tour or her various trademarks - the phrase is not currently trademarked and “in my era” originated long before Taylor started referencing eras in her tour 🤓
You sure can! Upload the palette screenshot into Canva, drop it onto whatever you’re working on, and use it to select your design colors 😊 I have an example of using it there in the Design video in my time-blocking series too 🤓
@@studiomdesignsco omg thank you!! I was trying to find some specific colors last night and I just couldn’t do it!! Thanks so much! Also the tip for the tags is amazing!
Everyone thinks that, but it’s actually not, and existed long before she applied the concept to her tour (therefore there’s no copyright tied to her unless you specifically say “eras tour “ or use any of her trademarks…which you definitely should not do that 😅).
Does adding Lucy’s version not make it trademarked? The word era by itself is fine, but adding another Taylor swift thing immediately links the two. Everyone is going to think of Taylor’s version when it says Eras and _version
No - “Taylor’s Version” is trademarked, but not the concept of any other version, and definitely not “in my era”. “In my era” is not a Taylor thing - it’s referring to an entirely different trend. I called attention to the popularity of it because of her tour, but the “in my era” concept in and of itself is not actually hers, so it is not in any way infringing on her IP. Putting a different name as a version of it at the end does not change that 😊
The Eras Tour, yes, as stated in the video. This design style is not about that nor does it infringe on IP. With 2 seconds of research anyone can clearly see that “in my era” was long before TS came up with the tour 👍🏼
Why not add the version? The phrase Taylor’s version is copyrighted but most of the listings I see is (custom) version. In my era is not something she copyrighted but there seems to be some type of loophole where you can make a product associated with her fan base that isn’t exactly infringement.
I already have a list of ideas for the "In my era" t-shirts, specifically for my store that actually has a niche. Yay!
Oh this was 3 months ago. Is it too late for this?
They’re still doing really well, just make sure you’re using it for specific niches! 😊

Quick question- I don’t see that you watermark your listing pictures, can you explain why you don’t?
Oooooo I thought we couldn’t make each letter a different color in Kittl!?❤
You can colour each letter if you create each letter as a stand alone instead of typing out a phrase or word

How excellent tips!! 😮 I wonder if the color pallet trick to find the right colors, can also be done in canvas?

@@studiomdesignsco omg thank you!! I was trying to find some specific colors last night and I just couldn’t do it!! Thanks so much! Also the tip for the tags is amazing!
How does Printify now what font to use?
You upload an entire design and then they print whatever the design is 😊
If it is personalized, like your example for dog names, what font does printify use? The may not have the same Canva or Kittle fonts 8)
Isn't the in my era thing - a take off of the Taylor Swift Era's tour?

No - “Taylor’s Version” is trademarked, but not the concept of any other version, and definitely not “in my era”.
“In my era” is not a Taylor thing - it’s referring to an entirely different trend. I called attention to the popularity of it because of her tour, but the “in my era” concept in and of itself is not actually hers, so it is not in any way infringing on her IP. Putting a different name as a version of it at the end does not change that 😊

The “eras” absolutely only refers to TS 😆
I wouldn’t add the “version” part.
Excellent video. Thank you.
